Ain't a gun just a thin barrel filled with gun powder and chunk of metal?
Hmm....

Not really sure but maybe everyone imagines Firearms as Shotguns, 9mm.
Cause those weapons wouldn't fit but the Colonial Rifles seems just fine to me^^.
Again "This is Tyria, not Earth"^^!

If it was balanced, sure, I've always been a fan of fantasy style guns.

They can ballance it in GW2 right^^?
Add a little more technology^^.
And Dwarves are already Gunpowder lovers in the start of the game don't they?
I just realized if they love Gunpowder why do they just make bombs why not guns?, and It is named after guns right?, but if there's no guns before gunpowder how could it possibly named after that^^?
*My head hurts XD!*

And a trigger/firing mechanism. The small mechanical parts are what make guns just a little too hi-tech for GW. 200 years in the future? I don't see why not. The Asura would be the most likely to invent them, though. They can craft eye glasses, as well as the small gears and what-not in the warp gates. They have the mechanical know-how. They just need that little kick of necessity and/or inspiration.

EDIT: Actually, with the Canthans being Asian-themed, the Chinese had many different types of gun-like weaponry dating as far back as 3rd-2nd century B.C. They had a "hand-cannon" of sorts - basically a miniature cannon made of bronze, that could be held and fired in the hands of a single person. Being that the Luxons already have the large Jade-firing cannons, it isn't much of a stretch to see that technology shrunk and improved on over 200 years.

Why use guns when you have your Elementalists for artillery?

Say no to guns!

Well I'm just going to laugh at the NPCs trying desperately to build a gun over the next 200 years when we can all use far more powerful magic. I see little reason to build a mechanical weapon in a world with a lot of easy to use magic.

As I said before, why would you create a match if you could all conjure fire out of nothing?

Why have Swords and Bows if we already have Maigc = P?
Get my point?
And if you check my post in Sardalec bout my Weapon Idea, I am thinking of just adding skins, a Bow and Gun can have same outcome in battle.
Ranged-Attackers^^.

Exactly. I mean if guns > swords, and magic > guns, why the hell are there still swords in the game? Hell, as fast as the Gons chuck spears, and the Rangers fly arrows, the guns could just be another ranged physical with a similar fire rate and damage range. So then, if it was comparable and balanced, why wouldn't they work?

Thank you atleast somebody understands.

I think Guns are Viable for GW cause:
  • It can just be another skin for Bows, for Gun lovers.
  • Rangers can use them too, (Off-Topic, Also Sins should be able to use Claws and Gauntlets too., also some Sickle, but not weapon just for Deadly Arts^^)
  • GW has enough Technology to make a Gun, or even more.
  • GW isn't the Real World, why base it on our Timeline?
  • Even so if you still like to base it on the Timeline, 200 years after?
  • It is already being used in GW, Check The Dwarves, Asuras, Luxons? What else?

I think theres room for some kind of firearm in GW2 due to it being 250 years after. However in GW1 the closest group to have developed a kind of firearm is the Luxons and even that isnt perfected (Needs jade,a turtle and is very slow at fireing). Somewere down the line i can see the Asura (the last possible source for Tyria) creating them.

Firearms > bows. Would be unfair on rangers, tbh.

Firearms in a fantasy setting are typically a very bad idea, and it would greatly detract from the quality of the game.

Further, Golems are not mechanical/electrical constructions (aka robots), but magically animated constructs.

Black powder & the cannons are the only thing I can think of, and simply knowing how to make saltpetre is not nearly the equivalent of knowing how to construct a firearm. Cannons are far less advanced versions of hand-held firearms. Care to name a few more that are not magically based?

Balancing is not an issue - flavor is. & as for guns being superior to swords - anyone who brings a handgun to a knife fight is a retard. Once you get into melee, any weapon designed for melee has a significant advantage over a firearm. And trust me, it's pretty easy to get into melee before someone can fire.

Average handguns have an accurate range of aprox. 30 feet - anything further and you have to be a skilled user to hit, especially if it's moving. The average adult human can close 30 feet before a trained user can draw their firearm, which is why police are often paranoid about people with large knives (a blade can also easily penetrate Kevlar).

30 seconds activation for reload? ouch... the gunner must have arthritis , since it take around 10-15 seconds to reload (take me around that time to reload my uncle's flintstone rifle)

Don't compare Firearms and Bows, We could just think they have same Spead and Damage^^.
Uhm, kay but I remember they use Magical Crystals which gives off Eletricity to operate GOLEMs and Warps.
And btw, without Mechanical Energy GOLEMS can't move.
Heres the procces:
Magical Energy(Magic Crystals) > Eletrical Energy(Energy given of MCs) > Mechanical Energy(It's whole Action!)

The Ironforge Man
The Garrison
Traps in Dungeons
Mostly everypart in the Shiverpeaks
Does boats count?, Luxon Boats, Ice Boats, Corsair Boats(with Cannons)
???, and I bet theres more.
