The Definitive Storage Thread
Hailey Anne
We just need more storage in general. If I want to delete a char I have to move everything in storage over to another char so I can fit all the heroes runes/weapons in storage even then I have to move some of the heroes stuff over to a new char temporarily until I create the new char and get the heroes to put the runes on.

And I really, really, really could do with armor storage, too. My monk has five armour sets, my ele three, and they all take up space in my storage/inven like whoa. I mean, if you need five sets of elite armour to fill up the HoM, you also need the space to store it.
Tyla
I agree with runes being stackable and armour storage. Armour takes up alot of my storage and bag room, and runes being stackable is just logical.

I would say this has been a topic that has been around for far too long
I do agree that we should have storage for armor and an added tab for dye should be available, the rest is not really that important, although i do agree the need for more tabs in our storage is needed.
Also, with there soon to be 26 heroes, plus with 10 primary professions to choose from, some of us do have 10 characters (one of each) keeping weapons and equipment for all your heroes on your characters is getting ridiculous so i think that needs to be addressed too.
I'll try to sum up where my vote goes in no particular order...
#1 Dye Storage
#2 Armor Storage
#3 Minipet Storage
#4 Weapon Storage (For Heroes) Even if it is just a bag, belt or backpack
#5 Have the ability to purchase more storage is a good idea with (In game money)

Most of the ideas are good, maybe a hero backpack? You could customize a weapon for the hero then it may be kept in his/her back pack (like 10-15 spaces). You couldn't use this storage for yourself but it would free up space that your heroes are taking up in your own storage.
But anyway armour storage/buyable storage would suit me best.

I agree with armor storage.
Possibly rune storage.
I think there should be a hotkey assigned to storage, much like there is for the inventory. It can be designed so that it's not accessible except in outposts.
I also think you should be allowed to have more than 1,000p. It needs to be acknowledged that people have a lot more wealth than this, and instead of being forced to invest in the volatile market, people should be able to collect their money as they please.

i'd like another tab of material storage or change it so you can have 500 of each material in the tab instead of 250, as you can easily exceed the maximum amounts and then you have to start stacking them in spaces that could be used for holding dyes etc.

I agree with Runes, Minipets, Dyes, Keys, Armor Storage, and the ability to purchase more storage.
Armor Storage being the most important right next to the ability to purchase more general storage or just having more storage.
EOTN, unlike all other chapters, added no storage and no mule (I mean extra) character slots which made it really unfair in comparison. EOTN *requires* you to have books with you and naturally introduced many more items.
Even Gaile said _once_, can't quote her but maybe someone watching closer all the storage threads can, that we were getting a tab for EOTN which turned out to be false.

I went with rune being able to stack them I would also like to see the same for insignias and if possible mods of the same kind.

i just want more storage.. its quite annoying with storage chars..

Allow Bags and Pouches to be stored with items in them and if it's not too much a Rollover window that displays whats in it, probably It will motivate me to play my other characters instead of holding items or having to transfer from character to character to play it.
I can understand if they do this their income would decrease their sales on character slots which would be like dropping the stone on their own foot.

QFT the Yawgmoth post from Ophelya Bright & Midboss Afterlife (the last is not a GW player anymore but still interested in game mechanics... he finds the idea of the Auctions House GREAT! since he now plays LoTR OnLine where AH is a major features there... maybe he will return back to GW... who knows...).
I voted for all the reasonable implements of the Xunlai Chest... I have not signed the green one just because they're too many & the collector stuff... usually u store not a great variety of them, so nps... u cna put them on a mule I agree on the use of the lockpix only (well at least i do that, so no need for keys for me). BUT! I have to say that ANET will never do this changes, coz selling slots at €9.00 each... is way more convenient for them to make us happy. Anyway... let's hope! |
I'd gladly pay $9.99 for more storage. It would make it easier to find those extra Armor/Weapon sets/pets/dyes/consumables than trying to remember which char the items are in.
I was going with an armor char, weapon char etc which evolved to a point where the char couldn't carry enough to store all of a catagory.
Anyone who has been playing for a while has several sets of armor etc. Its toooo much for a mule(s) to carry

Just more storage will get filled eventually too.
Each character slot, including Hero armor and weapon slots, has... let me see...
27*7=189+20+10+10=229 slots.
Imagine we add to the Character creation options a third option:
- Roleplaying character
- PvP character
- Xunlai Chest/Xunlai Warehouse Worker.
If the new slot was the Xunlai Chest, it could be accesed from any Xunlai Chest or Xunlai Agent, in an additional Tab.
Each chest would have a name (a fixed name added upon creation) and deleting the chest in the Character List would delete all items inside it.
If that were not possible, then it could be a Xunlai Warehouse Worker.
A character that would appear in a different unique outpost (The Xunlai Headquarters seen from kaineng) were only other Warehouse Workers would appear, those characters could go only to that outpost and the Guild Hall.
Since that place would have also a normal Xunlai Chest to move stuff from their inventory to the chest.
That kind of character would have only to body models (female and male) and use already existing Canthan faces and hairstyles.
When you hit I, instead the normal inventory, you'll see a tabbed inventory with all the slots.
Since 229 is a prime number (what a coincidence) the tabs could be 4 of 40 slots and 1 of 29 slots that would increase if more heroes were added, 5 slots per hero.
Anywys, that would just be a 'quick'(!) patch to the storage problem.
The real and only way to remove storage problems is by removing the need of storage, with better trade systems and item unlocking.

That's a really good argument there... So sorry we bothered with this thread then. I guess we should close it now. Good argument. Really. :S
I have suggested this many times before:
I'd really like an option to manage ALL my characters inventories plus my storage all at once.
Imagine a window or a full screen display if you will with all of your characters' inventories next to eachother, say up to 10 inventories in one screen (2 rows of 5 inventories)
and all your Xunlai tabs on the bottom (tabs 1 through 4 and the materials tab next to eachother.)
So you'd have 3 rows of 5 tabs in total.
In this window you can easily drag and drop all of your stuff to whatever spot you like.
If you have more than 10 characters, you can simply scroll through tabs with a "left" and "right" arrow button on the left and right side of the window/screen (kind of like the character selection screen, only you inventories just swap 1 place instead of "sliding" along like your characters).
I'd make a photoshop image of this if I weren't at work atm. Perhaps I'll do it later. R.Shayne made a screenie that sort of shows what I'm thinking of.
Reason: this would shave off SO much time managing your items, logging in with character A, placing stuff in your already brimming xunlai storage, logging out, selecting character B, wait for another loading screen of wherever you left that character, map to the GH, wait again, etc. etc. etc.
that would be my idea for the /storage command.
Also, signed for options to store
-tomes,
-minipets,
-dye,
-1000 materials instead of 250,
-armor for each individual character.
(not signed for runes, inscriptions, insignia's because of hoarding, greens and coll. items. you know how many there are!?!? Not likely to happen in all cases, so useless to sign)

How about once you dedicate armour at the hall of monuments, it makes an exact copy - runes included, so you could trash your current armour, go back and get a copy remade for a fee. on this copy you could be able to reassign runes / insignia that you have dedicated, but you will not be able to salvage the copied armour in anyway.

It is to take the book item (ANet's term), such as the incubator, and have it be able to store armor. This idea was passed to Linsey (so don't say I said she said it). According to Linsey, using the current system is possible, but it would remove runes, insignias and the dye color. A "book" can hold 18 pages/items, but she said that isn't the limit. Of course the idea of having the armor take up 15 places (5 for armor, 5 for rune, 5 for insignia). But that still leaves the issue of dyes.
Anyways, Here is the link:

I think everyone in Guild Wars will agree with me on one thing that guild wars is missing and that is SPACE.
With the recent addition of new campaign books, I believe it is required for more space. How do we hold 11 books, while juggling a full storage, full material storage, holding weapons, and trying to salvage every single last bit of common items just for that last bit of space? We can't. I believe that either, we should have a extra bag added for specifically just books, a "book" bag of sorts. We could have this in our inventory as a individual bag, or a item to hold that holds our books for us. If not, we should at least have an extra place in our storage for dyes, a wardrobe type storage for clothes, and even a tome storage. Customization shouldn't end at just a characters armor color, but at what the character can hold and store.
With the rising amount of items being released, where do we have room to put it on? No where but extra characters, which fill up eventually anyway. Please, I literally beg of you to give me more space for my items.

Yeah, add like a "Library" tab to Xunlai storage.

Similar to my suggestion of merging the books into one. Or if you prefer, look at it as a compliation holding all your books into a single slot.
But I agree with you, certain things need more storage space, either in the form of Incubator Kit where you collect material for your Black Moa Chick, or in the form of Material Storage.
As an incentive, give this to thoose who own all three campaigns.
Material Storage - check, thank you Anet!
Armor Storage - please add.
Dye Storage - please add.
Book Storage - please add.

/signed for certain, the books are the worst part now, they need their own tab in storage possibly per character, like they see their own books tab in inventory when they go to chest.

I dont know how many times this has been suggested, and I have so many armor sets for PvP, different builds and what not. I need more space for my stuff...
And books, yes...I feel like I shouldnt get any extra books until I finish a specific one first...
Add more space or tell us why you wont add it Anet! lol

.....if i see another qq thread i swear to god
you dont HAVE to have every single book on you, its like 100g per page at the storyteller folks
or even better idea! if youre going to do proph, get a proph book and have 1 space taken up in your inventory of 35, even if you for some reason have all 11 you still have 24 slots open
its like nobody else has heard of mule chars

If they are going to encourage us to buy more armors, weapons, and carry books around for our HoM, not to mention hoarding party items and the like for titles, we really need some place to put it all.

i cant really see this as being added. I think they would much rather us spend 10 dollars on another character slot. But i will sign it as I DO agree.
Alos how many books are there. when you count todays update. the HM/NM for GWEN, the bonus mission packs. and others too.

So I'm not the only one that has problems with the limited space we get.
Also, I definitely would not mind a bigger material storage.

Great job on the update Anet but my back is beginning to hurt from all the books in the game.
Anyway we can get a book satchel or something?
I'd hate to have to sue you for breaking my virtual back
Seriously them books take up quite a bit of inv now, and I for one like to mix it up and work on a few at a time.
I know - how about Anet contracts the Kindle fom Amazon, makes lots of dosh from product placement and all our books go stackable virtually!!!!!

I completely agree. Add the books to our [H] Hero page. Open a tab for it after receiving the 'book.' Access the book from there. It's just an idea.

yep, we definetly need some better storage options for all the stuff anet keeps giving us to carry about.
particularly weapon or armor storage being that we're encouraged to gather several sets of armor/weapons in the HoM.
but now I'm getting a bit off track.
book storage = awsome idea like most other storage ideas (crafting mat storage was AWSOME Anet don't stop with just that!)

Armor Storage - Allow extra armors displayed in your HoM to be stored there.
Weapon Storage - Allow weapons displayed in your HoM to be stored there.
Dye Storage - Allow the storage of up to 250 of each dye.

Simply more storage... I don't even have many things I like to keep but with my armors, some weapons and some random stuff I usually save for the future, along with all these books the problems I had with tight space before just got worse. Seriously, I got 2 full tabs with armors and books, I'm left with another 2 for everything else... And that's not counting the materials tab of course.
Windf0rce
LOL, schoolbag was fun. My friend said the same yesterday, haha.

I would like to get actually one book with several "chapters". Which could be expanded. Since books are customized the idea of having a special place for them in Xunlai chest does not make much sense to me. Dye and armor storage would me much more welcome!

Bristlebane
All we need is a bag much like the Incubator Kit, call it a "Compilation" or something. That would probably be the easiest solution.
Or better yet, scrap the books completely and let the storytellers who hand out the books to automatically track your progress. Then you could talk with them to see your current progress and exchange for a reward at any time.
As for dyes, another Material storage tab in your Xunlai storage would be the best.
And armor.. here's an idea. You can buy an "armor kit" and stick armor parts in it but not more than one of each. So if you have 5 armor sets you would need 5 armor kits. Would still be a whole lot better than having 5 slots taken than 25.

generally any improve storage ideas get BIG /SIGNED from me
The absurdly small storage space in GW was always a big pain. Since GW:EN didn't add anything in that matter, no char slots for mules and not even a single extra Xunlai tab, it's only getting worse and worse. And just look at the MASSIVE amount of entirely new items added in GW:EN and later, for over 14 months since then... including this yesterday's update.
The GW:EN ones took too much space, but The new books are just sick, so many of them. You may not need them all right now but just think about doing a mission or two, get a book before doing and then wanting to do a mission elsewhere for some reason. They will add up faster than you will fill them up completely, unless you dedicate your playstyle strictly to the books, which you probably don't want.
As they CAN store the information of missions done outside the books - there's a filling missing pages feature (sadly VERY unreliable), they shouldn't take our inventory space for storing that data again... just use the books interface for accomplishments representation.
A nice big improvement would be to make the new books not Customized to 1 character but usable Account-wide - by any of your character, just Not tradable and not droppable (Fragile). This should be very easy to do.
The amount and quality of storage we get should be a high priority for a next update. And it would be best if it was combined with a large gold sink, as the game desperately needs that too.

Need more storage slots!!! I'm dying with all these books in my inventory! add a tab, add them to H tab, I dont care just make it easier to carry all these!
