Ranking is cheap, especially after the battle. Anet specifically encouraged unsportsmanship behavior by releasing that video and including that functionality in the emote.

Its more then just an emote, its a 13-15 year old detector. If Anet still have any decency they would remove the emote crap.

To be clear, I have nothing against new ingame emote, but the way of ANet's introduction of new emote is very rude to me. It degrades my current thoughts/vision about ANet as company.
For me it is really bad PR.

I remember about 2 years ago people were always joking about how if you rank someone's corpse you lose 100 fame.
I don't know if anet ever had an official stance on ranking corpses, but they certainly don't seem very serious about it now. I mean, come on, charr in EotN rank your corpses! I found that hilarious. Anet obviously picked up on the "in-game culture" and made a joke about it. And from there it's not far to actually embracing the trend and using it to promote the new emotes.
IMO people are way too touchy about this.

It seems like Anet is screwing up more and more lately. They become popular by making a model that was different from other games. Then they just keep putting in annoying crap like this that bring them back down to the general level of refuse found everywhere else.

Maybe aneters read the garbage posted on this site about them and took offense? Maybe they are determinded to teach us to shut our mouths and stop complaining, or they will only make it worse. I think it's great now I no longer will need to use dancing (emote) over yer head or sitting on yer head after I kill someone in pvp. heheeeee We needed some new ways to put it in yer face type taunting in pvp. Afterall taunting is really a part of person vs person Muhamid Ali did it all the time in the ring to throw is opponents off focus and it works. I have more people coming after me trying to kill me than the focus of the pvp goals like capping or killing Gunther.

I think it's a good way to bring out the dupers and gold sellers myself. Nobody has 60 million plat, but, they might have enough armbracers and ectoes to sell and buy it, but, then Anet can take a real good look at those and then ban them.
