After chasing them and failing for about 10 mins we parked 5 members in one spot and I went and chased thier asses clean around the circle. Twas painful, but not as bad as repeating things would have been.

I hate vanquishing

Minotaur patrols are the worst in Northern shiverpeaks, they have the increased speed + sprint to outrun you and they patrol across then ENTIRE freakin map.
I even lagged out in Diessa Lowlands with about 200 kills and probably 100 more to go that really made me mad.

^ Tyrian maps are always a pain to vanquish: big map, too many paths. I always spend 2 -3 hours on a map. On the upside, vanquishing helps alot with your cartographer titles.

No title has ever had any prestige. This is a video game. At the end of the day, the reward for completing a title is enjoyment. It may be hard to grasp, but satisfaction and enjoyment are motivators for many players.
Anyone looking for prestige or a tangible reward from a video game is delusional.

No one likes to vanquish. But we are doing it for title. You can spend hours and hours killing monsters to vanquish an area. Sometime, when it comes to the LAST MOB, you can spend more time looking for it than doing the full vanq. Today, I was vanquishing Turai's Procession with 3x necro/hench. I spent 45 minutes and my bar was 99% completed. I tried to look for the last mob for more than 1 hour and I still didn't find it. Then, I ragequit.
I don't know if this thing only happens to me or it is pretty common for everyone.

did only few vanquished so far, at least 1 month break between every run >< yes, that's because i hate spending my time searching for that last mob and then not find it/disconnect while fightin it(yes, happened to me twice that i disconnected after searched full map taking 5mins~ to find last mob and then d/c and return to outpost - no idea why i didn't re log back into area...). So yes, happens to me too often to bother with vanquishing

I enjoyed it. I like killing things ^_^

vanquishing is fun but one of the most suspenseful parts is killing what u think is the last foe.
i usually use an essence of celerity for the sake of speed and, if need be, to help me search the map faster.
also when i vanquish i keep track of spots where i've likely missed a mob or i thought i spotted a patrol moving away.

/Sigh.
I know it exists and you want it to feel the essence of progression, but you don't necesarily require this to be honest.

My problem with vanquishing is henchmen. When I go with a friend/guildy + 6 heroes it's always a breeze (especially with double sabway).
However, when henchmen are the only ones available they're often pretty rubbish. In parts of Tyria (e.g. around Sanctum Cay) there are mobs of skales each with Chilblains and Fire Imps with Rodgort's Invocation. Alesia then comes to the rescue with Healing Touch and Healing Breeze.
/partywipe.
Screw it. I'm a legendary poacher now anyway. Time to work on legendary wall-hugger.

Anyways, I love vanquishing ^^ so those who say no one does, dead, o so dead, wrong . Although, the last groups can be a pain, darn ninja monsters.

Obviously some of us just do not share Anet's ideas of fun sometimes. When HM got first introduced I went to Vanquish that very same area.. well suffice it to say I have never attempted to vanquish anything since.
Nessar
Went to vanquish Talus Chute, I ran around for almost 2 hours trying to find the last monster to kill..never found it ._.

Worst experience for me: Grawls in Ascalon
The Ulodytes heal and run, heal and run. They never stop. then the grawls team up and take out my heroes

I really like vanquishing, regardless of where it is...even when I got to Rotscale...and those monk bosses...

1. There's a tundra giant patrol all the way in the wast of the area that has a rather large patrol and is easy to miss. I vanquished this area 3 times now, and all 3 times did we miss that patrol.
2. There's an avicara mob that patrols somewhere around the center of the area. It has a pretty large patrol route but if you just circle around the center a bit you will eventually run into them.
Oh, and vanquishing is fun
Kahlindra
I love it, it's one of my favourite things to do in GW. I did Majesty's Rest the other night and it was the bf's first time going up against Rotscale... it makes good times. We'd never have been motivated to go look in that area if we weren't working on vanquish.
For the original idea though, sometimes I wish there were a consumable to find the last monsters. Essence of Tracking or something. But then I think it's all part of the fun ;-)

yea, I was in sulfurous wastes and there is an area you cant get to unless you have a skill which requires full adrenaline, I went to that area last thinking that I could get around somehow but ended up being 6 mobs from vanquishing, it sucks

Vanquishing = the ultimate grind.
So I'm with you, I hate vanquishing too.

I was once Vanquishing an area in NF, connection went out when I finally found the last group. Needless to say, I was angry.
If I ever decide to Vanquish again, I've only done 8 total areas, I plan on dropping a Nuclear Bomb on the area, since Nuclear Weapons solve all of our problems.

Meh Vanquishing is fun when your boored and when you just need little more cash Well if thats true i've been boored 50times O.o

1) "Anyone looking for prestige or tangible rewards from video games is delusional." QFT
2) Those damn minos just sprint around the mountain all day, freaking annoying
3) Wish I had done most of my vanquishing after they introduced the (still paltry) cash rewards.
4) It may have cost me dozens of plat in donations to the avatar of balthazar but I got you Rotscale, so suck on it with your sucky bone dragon friends.

ooooh man i had 1 or 2 more groups to find today in a vanq. I dc'd, and then i couldn't see where i have been after i reconnected. That really sucks.
I did complete it though

It's definitely more fun and more efficient when vanquishing with people & heros. A friend and I started out from Yak's Bend one day and about two hours later we had the Eastern Frontier vanquished.
I'm done with the title and I still have fun going out with people (even total strangers!) clearing zones. The only regret I have is that the last mob I faced to finish the LV title was a bit anti-climactic. We were in Joko's domain and we ended it by squashing 4 or 5 bugs with our Worms. yawn.

^ you should done Majesty's Rest last. It is orgasmic when you vanquished it.

I watched my husband vanquish anvil rock....he had cleared it preetttty good (only had a small minotaur patrol to find)....however, that last patrol he had seen but could never catch! so he would lose them along the way....retrace his route and not find them....took about an hour to find those last few---and even wiki says:
I usually just dont vanquish... I will kill stuff in hard mode but since I dont really care about those titles I dont really worry if I miss stuff....
"To receive credit for the Vanquisher title track in this area you must defeat 137-253 monsters in Hard Mode. This is a hard area to earn vanquisher because of the large number of fast minotaur groups with very large patrol patterns. Finding the last few groups can be challenging, as they may have moved into areas you have previously cleared."

Since vanquishing brings in next to nothing.
I used to be very anti-vanquishing - but I've tried it a bit more ... and these days I like the fact that I get to uncover parts of the game I've never seen before.
The whole "kill everything that moves" still is as boring as it always was though.
A bit more on-topic:
Was vanquishing Ice Cliff Chasms yesterday - and I get to the Wurms in the south (I started from Gunnars) - and I had some 3 Wurms spawn on me - I kill one - and finish the area. Although 2 of them were still alive, in my aggro range and being attacked by Oli's minions.
(The fun part really happened when I talk to the guy at the last rez shrine and get my Norn hunter rank 4 - with no more foes to kill. )
Emissary of Xunlai
Vanquishing is loads of fuuuun.
BenjZee
It can be annoying sometimes but also i think its pretty fun and as soon as you've killed the last enemy you feel pretty good. The only problem i have with vanquishing is if you get a disconnect; the 'U' map is wiped so you don't know where you've previously been.
Gun Pierson
I wish I had a horn I could blow on, so all enemies in one map would come to me to fight an epic battle.
