That's why I love my Legendary Vanquisher Title

And a tip for anyone vanquishing North Kryta Province in Tyria, don't forget this particular spot:

I've only vanquished Bukdek Byway and that's all I ever want to vanquish.

because it still takes an inordinate amount of time to accomplish still. using ursan doesn't change that fact.

seriously
Ursan just made it faster, there wasn't any skill involved to begin with, you just needed a lot of time.

That doesn't really answer the question. Why do people want to waste an inordinate amount of time? I know the answer (HoM), but I don't understand it. At one point Leg. Vanquisher might have been a flashy title, but not today with GWAMMs numbering in the thousands.

A guildie and I vanquished Mirror of Lyss last night; took us about 20 minutes to find the last group (rain beetles). They were on a small land beside the river and by looking on the map, it looked like an "unreachable" zone.

I already answered that. Tangible rewards. Be it a zaishen key or three or a new computer courtesy of whoever is sponsoring the latest tournament.

Vanquishing has none of that.

That's the easiest place to vanquish. Just go with someone with Chasing Zenmai active and all you have to do is kill 4 guys.

I absolutely hate Arborstone. It seems impossible to H+H it. Once I managed to survive the AoE damage from Splinter Weapon my guys have all died once or twice and this is only at the entrance. Plus I had a hard time killing the Monk boss. I guess it was my fault for not bringing any Enchant removal.

guardian, protector, cartographer, etc. also don't give any in-game benefits. and yet people still do it. you talk about tangible rewards. what are the odds that you will actually be good enough to win the real-life prizes? it'd be much simpler to just get a job and buy it instead. so, again, why do anything at all in this game?

Nope - Tahnnakai Temple with the quest "A Meeting With the Emperor" active - then only 2 foes have to be killed - if you do it right

And if you got a Fachtion Char - then ZEN Daijun area are the most easy area to Vanq at all - when u have finished the quest "An Unwelcome Guest" - then enter the zone from Seitung Harbor - and u only have to kill one pet - Tiger or Crane...

You people are so retarded. This is a game. You play it for enjoyment. If you don't enjoy vanquishing, then don't do it...find a different element of the game, and play that instead. There isn't a "point" to any of this...it is for entertainment. I'm sick of seeing all these QQers whining about vanquishing and saying that the titles are a waste of time and too common.

This isn't real life. There isn't a "point" to any of it. Just to have fun.

I H/Hed this area a few weeks ago and the same group eluded me for quite a while. I dont mind trying to find the final group, if you are comprehensive then its not usually a problem.

If you hate vanquishing, then don't vanquish. Job done.

+2. Vanquishing was a challenge for me. Thats why I enjoyed it--even when it was frustrating--and continue to help others when they ask for help on a vanq.

For the OP and others who are H/Hing the title:

You're right. If not the biggest problem with vanquishing, the search for those last few enemies was a regular source of frustration from GWP through EoTN. Often, it was a patrol that I was missing. Here's a few tips that helped alleviate some of the problem:

1. Don't just hold control down. Sometimes, you'll still miss the mob if its off in a corner and hard to see. the TAB key, on the other hand, will autolock onto any monster that is within its range (CTRL's range). Tapping TAB every couple seconds can really help find a mob thats in a corner somewhere, hiding from view.

2. If, after mapping the area you've vanqed you still cannot find the group or monster, flag your heroes and henchmen as you sweep the second time. If a patrol is crossing paths with you at odd times, the chance of your team hitting them will increase as you spread out. Players who vanq 8v8 often break into separate groups-or single players--to find the last mob. This is the same principle. It gives you four points--at the least--that you won't have to continue going over in your search. Unless its a boss mob (and how could you miss one of those with all those nice wiki pages on them )the little DP you may gain is more than worth the time you will save by doing this.

3. The nice thing about H/Hing is that you aren't on someone else's schedule. If you're getting frustrated, walk away. Go to the kitchen and get a drink. Whatever you do that helps you cool off, take the time to do it. many people here say vanquishers have too much free time on their hands. That may be true, but most of my vanquishes took...well over an hour. They didn't take so long because I suck (at least, I like to think thats not he reason). They took so long because I was doing my laundry, watching a movie or something, cooking dinner or any of a myriad other things than just playing GW. Seriously; your heroes won't get upset with you if you step away from a few minutes to add fabric softener or make a sammich

Hope this helps those still seeking the title.

My point is not that you set your sights on these rewards, which are in the end paltry and don't justify the time spent to earn them. My point is that at least a reward exists and is theoretically attainable. Vanquishing, cartography, guardian, and the rest of the grind titles have no reward whatsoever. The title is no longer enough of a reward, as it just means you'll be one of the thousands who also have it.

Put that way, that really is an interesting question, isn't it?
