Solo Shadowform Sin - Chaos Plains NM Farm
Psyko
for those who are having energy problems, you can always replace viper's defense/run skill with glowing gaze and your energy is nearly always full...
i use the MoR build with glowing gaze, rarely have problems with behemoths, make it to the plains in time, and have no problems otherwise
i know it will probly not work in HM, but NM is just fine for making cash... :P

HUZZAH i just broke 100k for the first time in about 3 months thanks a heap for this. i made the 21 ectos in about a week or so of casual farming in between studying for exams ect, now im sitting on 125 plat or so in the bank, and can proceed to buy elite luxon armor and a dread mask for my necro (Cursed Golden Rin Relics....)

Also just a side note, killing them all at once DOES NOT REDUCE YOUR CHANCE OF AN ECTO, if it does then i must be very very lucky to get 4 from 1 mob of 27 (well i guess that luck anyway) /endofdisscussion

you dont need to bodyblock or anything. just keep your HP under 100 and they will attack you all the time.

the behemoth block is just by a bad chance. Occassionally I get like 4 that completely block the entrance and exit gates.

so... after my power went out for 2 days, i just did a run and got 10 ecto
yay loot scale?
yay loot scale?

If you can stick with the boring repetition, this is a great farm. In 10 days (about 2 to 3 hours at a time) I have maxed my storage gold (added 800k) and now have about 30 ecto saved towards getting obby armor. But man is it boring. Gonna quit for awhile and play the game again.

and people that are having energy issues. DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT use the glyph of swiftness and Deadly Paradox UNTIL SF is recharge.
i never run out of energy with a constant SF up all the time. if you do find yourself low. just DONT cast any other spells. wait for SF to recharge then Glyph, DP, and SF. also make sure to have a fire off hand that doesnt take away a energy recharge. people who are using one need to stop and think
ps. i have a totem axe some fire offhand i found for the +12 energy and all energy armor(radiant, attunement) also the sup shadow of course

I use zealous daggers and have a caster sword/+12+15 focus to cast shadowform if needed. You can litteraly spam teh damage skills as much as you want then switch to cast. Also this may be random but I had alot of 1-2 ecto runs mobbing grps of 3 did all of them alone today and had a 50 min run, but got 13 ectos. Was very pleased with it. Yes I am not lying, but no screen didnt really think of it.

I've used both the sliver armor and the fire nuke builds and here are the differences:
Ecto - No difference (no matter if its fast or slow killing)
Other drops - at least twice as much with sliver than nuke
Time - Nuke twice as fast as sliver
Conclusion - if you are after ecto then use the nuke build - its faster. If you want other drops to salvage, etc then use the sliver build.
When I use the nuke build my backpacks are only half full when i'm done. If I use the sliver build, I take a salvage kit and have to use it on all the white drops half way through the run just to have enough space to pick everything up.
But bottom line is that both ways produce the same amount of ecto per run (but you can do twice as many nuke runs in the same time as a single sliver run - so you do the math)!!

That's funny because I've exclusively used the MoR+Font build and I always find myself salvaging whites to make more room for drops.
How many ectos I've seen drop varies just as often as ppl QQ on these forums if that's any indication but the norm seems to be at least 3 a run, most from a single run was 8 I think.
To those having issues getting to the plains, watch the videos posted here in the farming forum and note the path. Make sure you're using cupcakes and [dash] or [flame Djinn's haste].
To those having energy issues, don't be afraid to wand if you must.
Anyways, anyone who doesn't already have a sin or isn't making one is really missing out on some great farming runs. Now if I can just find a good supplier of cupcakes. Speaking of which, whats the going rate atm? I think it was 100g per cupcake but that was before this became popular, lol.

Eh...cupcakes aren't really needed, tbh you're the first I've heard of wasting cupcakes on this run. The cupcake price hasn't changed at all, no joke.
Mac Sidewinder
I've heard of some people using cupcakes (and other consumables) instead of running skills to free up a slot for something else. I really haven't seen any need to do this but to each his/her own.
Kyuuzo
Indeed, no cupcakes needed here either. I don't need [Flame Djinns Haste] (I use [dash]), as 25-30 min runs are fast enough for me (first 2 groups of dryders included)

Hi there,
Some ppl doesn't seem to understand (still) how to get to Chaos, well I've made (again) a video, and shows also how to farm, where and what.
~NOTE: I do NOT take credit for the build, however I do take credit for the Video
GL, for every 1 that needs it, for this farm run....

I just had that happen 4 times in a row, suffice to say i had to quit gw and go do something else i was a tad pissed off.

Video: http://files.filefront.com/Chaos+Run.../fileinfo.html First of all, good video. It definately shows to anyone the basics of the run. I have some point which could've been better. These are not meant to negatively criticize you, but as general info for everyone.
I prefer to use dash for the following reason. With dash you can easily and without much risk of body blocks, take on the whole chamber with 3 groups of squids. You can afterwards trap them against a wall (I usually don't because it barely matters in time spent). It's probably always a bad idea to kill the Aaxte, because you'd be better of using that time doing more runs and killing more Mindblades.
Also, it's not even useful to kill any squids after you've finished the quest. Just ignore them and run past the Behemoths when the Blacknessess have passed.
Your run was excellent. You timed it just right, and it's a great help for anyone who doesn't know how to do the run.
What you didn't do tough, was keep your health under 100, which is quite crucial. It speeds the run up quite a lot. You can efficiently get your health at less than 100 by making sure you recast Shadow Form in the run just after you walked up the last steep part, to the road where the Blacknessess pass if you're too slow. Then you can run to the Planes, wait for 3 seconds and reapply Shadow Form after is has ended. Then, aggro.
The Banished Dream Riders can be divided into roughly 3 groups. There's the first group you see when you enter, which consists of 4 Dream Riders. It's best to try and kill them and their spawns together. Sometimes it's possible to pull those 4 Dream Riders together, but it usually isnt.
The second group is at the altar thingy. It consists of 3 Dream Riders, with some extra additional spawns. You can always pull these 3 together. Be sure to use a longbow for pulling.
The thirth group is close to the Terrorwebs. There are just 2 Dream Rides. It's easiest to kill the Terrorwebs together with the last spawns.
I hope this info is helpful to anyone trying to speed up their runs.

Hmm, welll I think it was brought up in one of the other UW farming threads for assasssins but I'll have to try it out without using one later.
A Leprechaun
I did a run back along where I compared 2 techniques for killing mindblades:
1) Normal MoR + Lava Font, keep spamming Lava Font until all the enemies die.
2) MoR + Lava font until your foes are at low HP (usually 2 casts) then keep MoR on them and sword them to death (Fiery sword).
I got 2 to 3 times more drops (including cash) when I killed them slower (1 at a time). It took bloody ages but then again since I have gotten 1-2 ectos a run for my past 4 runs it might be worth it :S.

ok when you are casting sf
which order does it go in?
is it deathly paradox ---> gliph--->Shadow Farm
or gliph--->deathly paradox--->Shadow form?
b/c im not too sure and died because of charged blacknesses right by chaos plains
also wat weps do you guys use because i keep on runing out of energy with totem axe and filame artifact giving me 49 energy

Just make sure to cast them as soon as it recharges. The charged blaknesses as the door mean you went too slow and you need to make your trip up the mountains faster. SHock is also a skill so it goes through SF.

None of these work because mindblades are not fleshy.

Awesome build and awesome guide.
I have done 5 runs so far and got 15 ecto, I guess my luck isnt as good as others. Has anyone done this on HM? I tried it, but the mindblades scatter and then only 3 will attack you at a time. Anyone know why that is? I was also at 50 HP when fighting them. lilesnoopy
yea thx guys got the build down and got 2 ectos on my first successfull run :P nd this worx in hm but do you use dash or fdh in hm?
kvndoom
I don't find doing it in Hard Mode worth the trouble. If I want cash or rares, I have plenty of places to farm for those. I do UW solely for ecto. Kills will take longer in HM, and Hard Mode does not increase your chance of getting ecto.
@ Leprechaun: yeah, killing slower does net better drops of non-ecto stuff, but that's not what 'm down there for. Sometimes I muck around and use Conjure Flame + MoR and wandspike, just for the sake of doing it. Yes, I get more stuff, but not sure if it's worth it. So... for max ectos for time spent: Normal Mode, fast kills (aoe) for max drops with time not a factor: Hard Mode, don't kill too many enemies at once Darkstar The Legend
First 10 runs i tried, totaly blocked by the behemoths. Was really really pissed and gave up on it for a while.
came back to it and finally got a clear route. a 6 ecto run and a q9 storm bow too, was a very nice welcome to the chaos planes. masta_yoda
i usually kil all the aaxte if i get blocked
Sora267
How fast are runs with an Assassin? I do this as E/A, and my runs are generally 30-35 mins long, with Golden Eggs and sometimes Essences. I made a Sin today since Essences were costly with five failed runs in a row (Behemoths blocked the path), and I'm wondering if its worth to keep working on the Assassin.

I hate ecto drops, not even one ecto till the last group...
Then I got 4 of them, lol Coeus

I think making an assasin is worth it. For my ele when I did it I did it around 45 min not using essences and eggs. Now with my assasin I can do it in 24 min. So doing it in half the time is worth it in my opinion.
