To me it's really mind boggling that they are taking measures to balance PvE a year later. Arenanet must have some real idiots that make up these skills if they're incapable of realizing how unbalanced it will be in the design stage. Now the damage has already been done because the game was allowed to continue like this for such a long period of time. If I had known how boring and pointless endgame pve was and how shitty they are at balancing the game, I definitely would have spent my money on a more worthwhile game.
As I've said before they really don't have any incentive to make major after market changes to the game since they aren't planning on releasing any more content for GW1 (hence no profit until GW2). I would be interested in just how many active players there are in GW at present time (my guess is maybe 1 million worldwide). Information on GW2 has been scarce; it is probably a long ways off. IMO they are losing GW2 customers by letting issues like this fester and by not releasing any new GW1 content for such a long period of time. =\

The trader price at the time of that nerf went from a sell-to-player price of 3,300g (and falling) to the current trading range of 4,100 to 4,300. In the secondary market (player-to-player), the result has been a shift from ectos being 30+/100k to 26-27 for 100k. This is a permanent price increase. Granted, ectos only recovered about half of their loss from the 20-22/100k days. This result obtained because the instantaneous rate of ecto generation (measure it as ecto/second or minute, on average) remained higher than before, leading to a lower price at which it becomes more profitable to trader ecto and spend the time savings farming more ecto than to chase an extra 300-400g on each ecto by selling. . |
this has been covered repeatedly every time there's a fluctuation in prices. Prices will rise and fall any time there's a change in availability or demand on anything. There will never be a set "permanent" price.
Abnaxus
Simply, ectos will not raise because players are now very suspicious about the unpredictable fluctuations and don't consider it a reliable currency.
So, they will not invest again in ectos.
The new currency are Z-keys.

I realized the only reason I'm excited is because of the massive cries that will happen this Thursday.
Not because the game will genuinely improve/devolve.

has anyone actually assured us that the update will be this thursday or is this all speculation ... like 90% of the threads around here. I asked izzy ingame and he said he wasnt sure it would be ready for this thursday

The key is:

Trying to get everything ready for the next build, which barring complications, should be out next week. |
Now, as we all know, ArenaNet operates in Valve Time.
Next week in Valve Time = 3 weeks later.

Don't even insinuate that!
Let's be optimistic. With an Alliance Battle weekend, there must be something done with Faction!

Mesmers, Rits, Sins, Necros, Wars, Rangers, Monks, Paras, Dervs, and Eles... sure you might not all be able to fit into the same party, but everyone would still be wanted for a group. And it would be in a place like... let's say, there's a teleporter in every major city in every campaign that would portal you over.

I'm going to laugh no matter what happens. I've been eager to see what they do with SF as it still is a mass farming in UW, but crap for any one thats not a sin or Mez (look at varriants of the perma SF if you disagree with me on the mez), and people have been QQ'ing about Ursan since it was first used in UW.
It will be nice to see what they do with some of the "useless" elites that could use some buffing.

I'll bite. I use Ursan almost exclusively on my dervish. Call it what your like but overall its the most effective skill for a derv you can have. I am sick of playing it, i want to play with my bar again and have fun doing it.. i hope they turn Ursan into a pile of stinking worthless crap, completely unusable, so i can enjoy playing my character again and have fun with changing skills around and finding good combinations.
At first it was nice being able to plow through things I normaly wouldn't be able to.. it was nice to 'be more badass' for a while. Now its just boring. That skill alone can ruin the game for you. Once you get used to not using your brain and creating and testing your own bars, its pretty much over.
Honestly even people who use nothing but ursan must be bored with it by now. It may be effective, and allow you to do things you couldn't easily do otherwise, but at what cost? What happened to creating and using your own builds, using your creativity... I think I'd rather enjoy playing my character and have a little variety. I'm done with ursan whether they nerf it or not, but i seriously hope they destroy it so others can see the light too.
This whole game is about creating and using your own bar from the many, many skills at your disposal.. so get out there and do it !!

Before ursan became so popular, I could at least go to ToA and get in a pug. There was a time earlier this year when I joined a FoW pug almost every night of the week. Usually just a group of people looking to do something more challenging and maybe get some nice loot out of it. There was no concern with "beating" the area to get a chest to spawn. With ursanway, everything else is sacrificed for the sake of getting to the reward chest as fast as possible. In its current state, the FoW is just a glorified chest run and anyone not interested in that run isn't welcome there.

You know theres something wrong with the game when the entire user input is 2 key presses per minute.
I did all my vanquishing by targetting onto the closest mob and charging in then tabbing out and going back to Mass Effect or watching a movie leaving the hench to do the work, after doing some vanquish runs with friends and actually having to play through and use skills im shocked that people can actually do it without losing interest in the game completely or falling asleep.

Confirmed that it's coming this week:

So it's no longer a should, but a will.

Yes! I know!
I think this time we're in for five times the bug fixes, five times the hero skill usage changes, and maybe twice the random buffs/nerfs! I can't wait!
See, that's what I bet will happen tho I want to be wrong...

I understand a number of people have heard what a few of the (rumored) changes will be (through various channels like talking directly to Izzy, devs on IRC, etc).
I've heard about a couple, like drastic changes to VoD (NPCs not walking) and other random elite changes (Hundred Blades being unblockable). Has anyone else here heard of other possible changes?

Thus since the farming population changed from hardcore to casual you will have a DECREASE in the amount of quality items you are looking for to be in the marketplace because those casual farmers are KEEPING those items for themselves or their heroes now. You have to remember hardcore play these types of games 24/7 whereas a casual farmer might play the game 2-4 hours/week, thus a big loss in game equipment showing up in the markets until they deck themselves out and their heroes.
