woah.. storage space!!
I wonder if there is a limit on how many storage tabs you can have?

Where is the mission book "pack" for keeping all that books in my character at the same time, without losing all that storage spaces?

sounds good and bad.....will appreciate the extra bag for each of my toons though I hope that the mules wont need to do some quest to get it.
the zoo sounds good, hope its account wide.
the 5th tab---hope its a quest.
$10/inventory slot, hmmmm....since I have maxed out characters it might be good, though with an extra bag for each character (and 20 characters ) may not need it afterall.
daily quests and monsterboss killings, hubby has been after that for sometime, he will be impressed.
early bday gifts, rats---was still overseas when gw came out so my account isnt that old yet---summertime. oh well, will get to see what new minis are out long before my 4th bday.
so we'll see just how all of this is handled and if there is any other hom update other than the zoo.

Nice update. Unfortunately, my interest is currently bottomed out and I doubt I'll be paying real money for fake storage. I can't even justify a character slot much less 10 bucks for 25 storage slots.

I honestly don't see how people can find a problem with this, it's not like they're forceing you to buy more storage, it's there if you want it. If you're happy with mules go right ahead they're not going to make you delete them and if I'm understanding correctly aren't they saying that we're getting more storage to begin with and if we want more we will have to pay? Honestly, if TEN dollors is going to make or break you, you really need to disconnect your net stop playing GW save the money and find a better source of income or just get a friggen job to begin with. You get what you pay for and this is a company you know, they need to show a profit and if that profit goes into making the game and in the long GW2 better I'm more than willing to miss out on a couple of trips to Taco Bell during class break. Sometimes I think some of you like to complain just for the sake of complaining because some of your rants make no sense whatsoever.
Carry on Anet, I for one support what you've done.

So lemme get this straight.
First, we only get one additional storage slot, and have to pay a stupidly high price for more? Especially when that price is the same as a chr slot? Wow, anet failed on that one. I understand they have to make money somehow. But blatantly overpricing something isn't the way to do it.
Secondly, The zaishen quests for missions and such will basically be re-re-re-recycling the same stuff we've already done over and over? They don't give us ANY new content at all with them or any other part of this update? if so, then that is EPIC fail right there. I've personally had enough of the "lets rehash old content instead of adding ANYTHING new" way of thinking they have.
This update is sounding pretty bad over all, tbh. I really hope this isn't ALL they have to offer us. If it is, then i don't see this reviving the interest of alot of veteran players.

Keep in mind that adding more storage space means paying for more servers and more resources need to be added, while the extra storage slots are a 1 time fee for us, they still continue to pay servers; overall i like this update.

Tell you what, guys. If you don't like the new, additional crap they give us, then stop fracking asking for more stuff in the first place.
Now, I'm glad they are giving us a pet place, more quests, more storage, and expanding their market. I'd be more gald if a skill balance was in there somewhere, but it's become obvious that first, the unsatisfiable must be satisfied.

Feel free to support them all you want. I ask you to think a little harder and realize that most people's complaints are stemming from the fact that this isn't anywhere near as 'gracious' a storage update as people like you are praising them for. Note that I think the pet menagerie and the Zaishen bounties seem pretty cool, as will the global HoM. I am just not sold on this storage update part of it, although I will take the tiny free morsels that will be placed our way for free. Surely it can't be concern for GW server strain that is limiting our free allotment of storage. If so, why even support the XTH point mechanism which promotes mass-buying of extra accounts that add strain onto the servers in the first place?
At the very least, why even WASTE developer time to implement a special equipment bag for just weapons and armor? Why not just allow the use of another backpack-like bag which holds the same amount as one of these new max-sized equipment packs but allows ANYTHING to be put in there. Why just weapons and armor? What about our extra materials, keys, dyes, tomes, minipets, consumables, books, and what have you?

they need money for GW2. buy the storage and support them.

If you can assume things (like "all of these are weaps/equipment") then you can fit more inventory slots into less data. It's really obvious in the case of crafter storage, where you know byte 0 is wood, byte 1 is iron, byte 2 is etc. and so on, you don't even need to waste bytes on identifiers, just stick in the quantity and that's it. Weapons/equip with all of their modifiers would seem to be one of the more complex types of items though (as opposed to collector items), so I'm curious how they managed to streamline those.

There's two really good updates coming out.
The first is the Zaishen Menagerie, which is basically a "pet stable" that's been requested since forever. You can effectively swap your pet with any other that you've submitted to the Menagerie.
The Equipment Pack is going to be a new type of bag that holds only weapons and armor. It will vary in price depending on how many slots you want to hold, but the maximum is 20 slots. If it's what it sounds like, then this will free up tons of wasted storage space for alternate armors and various weapon sets. I know for my primary character, I'd easily use more than 15 slots for my extra armors and weapon sets.
I'm glad that they are adding in a feature for increased Xunlai Storage. However, it seems to be a letdown that after all the high expectations, it's basically a micropayment charge for the feature. If the cost was $5 per storage tab, then I would have bought four tabs for $20 without any hesitation. Right now I have to think about it, because the price seems to be making players choose between a convenient tab feature, a new character slot (mule), or buying another full game.
Until I see the Zaishen Challenge Quests in action, then I will reserve judgment. If the rewards are really poor, then people just go back to what they were doing.
Personally, I'm thinking about making a new pre-searing character just to collect Gifts of the Hunter. I need all the Sweet Tooth and Party Animal points that I can get.

This is indeed a very good update, and awesome news. People complain about price of storage, however the game is free too play once you buy it, and by far the best.
If they need to charge for extra storage then fine by me. To help keep up the servers, and make GW better I think its worth it. Remember GW is 4 years old and we the community need to support it.

I feel this outrageous price of $10 for just item 20 slots is a test - they test us how many players will overpay so much ignoring other so much better options.
I know while $5 per tab would be a fair price, they would make less money as some people would settle with just 1 extra tab. But if they didn't want to bother with such small deals as $5, why not to make an offer just as fair - sell 2 tabs together for $10! That would be a viable alternative to buying a mule slot, and should cost much less server resources than a whole character slot with ton of character data, bigger inventory, ability to add new equipment bag, and heroes, and even more strain on the servers for all those relogs needed to move stuff around.
... and while I promised myself to not buy more mule slots than I already did, I would buy that - 2 xunlai tabs pack for $10.
So I'm saying the price is a test. If the community buys them for such a sick price, it may mean even more even worse prices in the future - just imagine it becoming the new standard for GW2 - get clear game with very few slots and very small storage - but then you can buy them in online store for $20 per char slot (price updated!) and storage $10 per small tab, that an active player will need to buy like 8 of. With more 'optional' things like this and the game design based on them it may be costing active fans as much as a monthly fee game, but with keeping support and updates of a free game...
Don't let the curse of microtransactions get us in GW2.
How about: boycott ridiculous prices?
Show that we aren't a brainless mass that will buy whatever they add for whatever sick the price is.
Want storage? Want to still support Anet? Buy a mule instead.

Provide me with content I want - and you have my money. Hell, they can even overcharge it by making a limited edition and I'll gladly pay!
The "content" in question here is a new game with new skills, new armours and new areas to explore of course.
This isn't a charity. That's why they are charging for stuff.
It also isn't a charity where I'd willingly give money and expect nothing in return.
Just business.

I wounder when they will start to sell costumes now? I'd buy that, I'm not paying for bank space, when for all that I could get a second account and just have to pass it, but reap higher benefits.
Aussie Boy
As I said in an above post works out at $18AU (at todays Aussie exchange rate) if your stuck on the Euro payment.
Thats $72AU for 4 tabs plus whatever bank fees you have to pay.
O.o Cheaper really to go to JB HiFi and get The Trilogy for around $80 last time i looked in there.
I would suggest they drop the price to the same as a char slot price

All and all... with the "FREE STORAGE" offer and the Equipment section to each toon... that will eliminate about 80% of my storage issues... depending on the number of slots the equipment holds... I think 75% of my toons have atleast 2 sets of armor for various builds and about 5-12 different weapons/offhands (Especially my Warrior, Ranger and Monk)... so with the equipment storage AND the free 20 slot offer... I dont think the extra $10 a pop for storage will be needed... especially for those of us who already have 3-4 PvP mules...

There's a reason why other games(such as wow) are more successful, grow faster, and last longer. Cause they actually get NEW content from time to time. Where as we haven't seen anything but recycling left and right for almost 2 whole years.
And btw, just cause someone doesn't like the update doesn't mean they're strictly a pve only player.

It's been 4 years, and ANet can't even come up with a good marketing plan for increased storage pricing. This is all I know, this is all I care about. I want new armors and like more bonus mission pack stuff.

Um... new content? What is this new content you speak of? I don't recall seeing anything in terms of new areas, zones, missions, gear, and so on from the 'preview'(aside from the pet place, which isn't exactly "play content"). Unless there's other, hidden content, All I see is what sounds like yet another way to make us play through the same OLD content yet again. You can't expect anyone, pve'r or otherwise, to be "satisfied" with constant rehashing of the same exact things we've already done, over and over.

My comment: 10$ per tab of storage is kinda ... high ... it is cheaper to buy account and get two tabs and well as 4 character slots worth of storage.
But were getting bags for free. So, kudos, anet!

Ten bucks won't buy a month of WOW, Vanguard, EQ/EQ2, SWG, AoC and so on. I really like the 5th bag slot.
The new "equipment pack" reminds me of WoW's special bags for ores, herbs and so on: http://www.wowhead.com/?items=1.6
I am looking forward to the pet trainer. I also wonder about the size of the new bags/packs and if they will work with runes of holding.
But I have to agree to esprit regarding the price for extra storage tabs:
The storage tab is a bit on the expensive side indeed, especially if you take in account what he said.
EDIT: You can now get 1,2 chapters, a new account, for the same price ( roughly 10 $/ less EUR). They should re-consider their pricing.
Negative thoughts: I fear that the ITEM MALL will become much more common in GW2. Actually, I understand they need to make money. Still, it makes me feel uncomfortable.
It is a bit like Navy Field (fee free item mall game), you can play this game for free, but you will hardly make any progress (in fact you could almost lose credits through repairs) if you do not pay the 1-month-subscription fee for more xp, more credits and all that.
This said, I am feeling like playing some more GW soon.
The Zaishen Challenge Quests remind me of daily questing in Sunwell and Northrend. But they seem to be more random than the fixed and static WoW dailies, more like the random heroic dungeon quests.

LOL $9,99 for ONE tab with 20 slots??? who on earth will buy THAT if all chapters cost the same in the shops? One chapter = more Z-keys each month + 4 characters holding 45 slots each + another xunlai chest (2 tabs+mats) = 220 slots, not counting the extra new storage... Anet needs to lern math!
And I see no mention of book storage yet, but this is a "sneak peek" after all, fingers crossed.
got to say though, hats of to Anet for making this possible and listening to the community. and TBH: selling storage is a good move. It's just the price that's off when a second account costs perhaps slightly more in a shop and holds much more storage space...
question: are the pet unlocks for pvp only? or can I switch unlocked pets with my pve chars too?
