/not signed X10 purely base on the fact that a company has to make money to stay in business. Would you like to do a bunch of work and give your employer the Option to pay you for it. No you would want to get payed for no doubt. So quit with the QQ about something not being free.

Why does it matter if you have to pay? Its storage, its not needed to play the game i dont even have enough items to even come close to filling up the storage as of now. The only stirage update i want is adding a new chest to pre(you wont be able to take stuff from post but you can put your pre stuff in it.)

Be glad you'll have the possibility to purchase extra storage slots if the need should arise.

It's not a must-have, it's something extra.
Besides, this update will give you some free expansion aswell, so what are you complaining about?

I find it rather funny that someone asks for "no whining" in a thread specifically made to whine about something.

We already have that in the form of character slots, which provide more storage for the same price.

You pay for the convenience, see my previous post.

This isn't a P2P game, micro transactions like this and for game upgrades are a small fee that helps Anet keep the servers afloat and they honestly have every right to charge for extra storage space, just like you should expect it. You should try looking at it from the other side, you can't have everything for free. What could be worked out is the price tag, not the fact of charging money for it. 10$/€ is useless when you can buy a copy of GW with loads of extra storage space.

Yeah i just read what linsey said posted buy fril, and i gotta admit, its not that much of a convenience. Takes about an extra minute? W00t.

If it were something along the lines of $5 id consider it. But as it stands, 20 slots, for $9.99 isnt worth it. I'd rather continue to use my second account, as im doing now.

With 8.99€ you can get another character slot. That is:
* 45 item slots, 37 weapon slots, 37 offhand slots, 37 insignia slots and 37 rune slots, thanks to heroes.
But is VERY annoying to switch items between characters.

With 8.99€ you can get a Xunlai Tab, which has less slots:
* Just plain 20 slots (unless they change tab size, we don't know about that yet).
But it's much more useful, since you don't have to switch back and forward, neither have to programs running at the same time.

So, it is your choice. Each one has advantages and disvantages.
I would prefer if tab size were increased to 30 or 40 slots, though. But if not, I'll get tabs if I need them anyways, as long as they don't cost more than those 8.99€.

I've refrained from commenting so far on the whole Extra Storage debate but I'm now going to because, quite frankly, this thread just about sums up the QQing going on atm.

Ok, when we all bought the game(s), we all knew it was Free-To-Play. Quite different from most of the main stream MMOs, it was a nice change that a company was willing to release a game with a license structure like this. They could have so easily charged monthly but didn't.

And what we have been given over the 4 years of Guild Wars is, in all fairness, a staggeringly good valued product. Most of this content FREE too. Yes ok, Factions, Nightfall and GW:EN weren't, as well as the poorly released Bonus Missions Pack but overall, most was not requiring us to delve further into our pockets. We also have the monthly and quarterly updates which again are free. How many other online games do this? Very very few.

A lot of people will be (and are based upon the crying going on currently) still under the impression that, because they bought a game that requires no monthly fee, anything given to us extra content wise should be given (i.e. free) and not paid for. Well, I'm sorry but how many companies would do this in real life? Spend months of valued employee time and effort for nothing? As well as costing in new hardware (hard drives maybe cheap as chips nowadays on a $ per GB ratio but it STILL cost to the company). Most will think "oh it's just throwing in some more disks!!". Well it isn't. Adding disks into (or completely rebuilding) an array, dependant on how they approach this, takes time and resource. Not to mention doing exactly the same to their backup servers (most won't realise this).

I will say, ArenaNet may have done themselves a bad thing by pricing the tabs at $9.99 each. I agree this maybe a touch overpriced. But still, they can charge whatever they wish to. After all, they have done the work.

But we ARE getting free content - one extra tab plus the containers for weapons and armour. What more do you want?? Admittedly, ANet were never going to please everyone. But I think they have seriously made a good effort with this. And we still don't know that this is everything we are going to get.

Ask yourselves this - lets say you did work for 4 months or so. In your spare time too. Would you do all of this for free, even if you loved the job you were in? Of course not. Just because this is a FTP game, doesn't mean that everything should be handed to us for nothing. ArenaNet is a company. They exist for two reasons - to provide a service and to make money to continue to provide this service. Part of this going to, I would assume, Guild Wars 2 development.

Each player is entitled to do whatever they wish to do. Just because you don't agree with the pricing structure and how they are implementing this doesn't mean the next person will share your viewpoint.

I for one won't be buying extra storage, since I don't need it. If I did however, I would buy it as it would be a mini thanks to ANet for giving me continued enjoyment of a game I have, in all reality, had to spend very little money on.

Therefore...

Although the idea of having to pay for something which we were initially led to believe is free, I can see where Anet is coming from. Besides, not like you HAVE TO PAY NAO OR ELSE WE WILL DELETE UR CHARZ...feel free to continue to manage as you have so far.

Furthermore, having done the math, its actually a lot more economical to just buy an extra char slot...you get like 2 and a half panes worth of storage I think...

Alot of angry posts being said about this update. Well, here's my take on the situation. I was expecting more storage for my characters and I got it, but you have to pay greenbacks for the other slots. To be honest, I only expected for them to give us one extra storage space but they gave the option of adding more slots to your character so...not really any complaints here seeing as I will be getting a free one. As for having to pay for the other spaces -shrugs- Either you pay for it, or you don't. No use complaining about it. At least they gave you a free space instead of saying "Haha, we tricks'd joo! Pay for storage or suffer!" Sure, it WOULD have been nice to get more than one space, but hey, let's be realistic. A game that has NO monthly charge has to make money somehow. If A-net see's that not many people are buying the spaces, like other people said, they'll possibly lower the price to appease the masses. Just be glad they gave you more space.

My take on the addition: Good. Great.

Optional stuff is always good.
Those who want it will pay for it.

It is not that I'm joining any boycott thing, but I am NOT going to buy any tab.
If they were 5$ each, I would buy 4 of them... but 4 for 40$ is more than I paid for a full campaign.

Simply I don't think that a tab is worth 10$.

I think that the marketing decision is to find some more money since it has been a long time without a new campaign/expansion release, but in my opinion the price is too high.

I'd rather buy some more character slots.

ALSO: I have the feeling this "UNIQUE OFFER" to get a free tab will end up like the BMP.

It is optional. People have been asking for more storage and that they would pay for it.

Is it overpriced? Yes.

Would I have bought a bunch for my various accounts at $5? Yes.

Will I buy any at $10? Not a chance.

ANet's marketing seems to think they can get $10 for them, so I guess they know something we don't. Funny thing is just the other day one of the City of Heroes people (another NCSoft game) mentioned how cheap server storage space is and how it isn't even a factor in stuff they do. Granted, that is a subscription game, to be fair, but still. Even figuring all the active servers and backup servers that would need to possibly have extra hard drive space (and that they likely use more expensive server rated drives), storage space is incredibly cheap. Not to mention the 200,000 units of GW they still sell each quarter, which should actually cover such costs and dev work on GW2. But whatever.

Also, the "FREE" tab is some type of promotion. That may involve buying something, we don't really know. Or worse, if they make it so new accounts aren't able to get it, by having to do something in-game that newer players can't even get to. That would truly suck (as it is for a limited time) and pretty much be the one thing that would make me so mad I'd never buy anything from NCSoft again, including GW2. I hope that is not the case.

Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the new free stuff they will add this month!

But I won't be spending money on extra storage.

VERY glad for the free extra equipment slot though, it means I can switch the 15 weapons i carry with me to somewhere else.

where exactly in the announcement says the equipment packs are free? read it again, you get a fifth slot to hold the equipment pack, free slot not free equipment packs. so no one gets free storage lol lolololololololol. nice Arena Net very nice.

finally, Arena Net has become a micro-transaction game not free to play anymore. Well it wasn't free to play to begin with, but, you know what, Arena Net, you could have made this an expansion pack and no one would make a noise, at least not me. because you are after all an expansion pack business model, not micro transaction. now you become like every other MMORPG out there. tsk tsk tsk.

the game i currently play gives 5x25slots bags :P and a 25 slots bank free just need to download. and i could make as many account as i wish, and send the rest of the stuff to this other account to keep. free too.

Minako, i think the free tab will come with the purchase of the equipment pack, the most expansive one i would suspect.
