5 Runs, Ranger Rit. Best run 4 drops. Kept dying. Disenchantment seemed to work best. Overall easy, 3 groups right outside, other groups to the right up the hill. Those groups seemed harder.
Anyway, what is this thing they suddenly have for Mandragor Roots? Nice target, easy with a bit of challenge.
Almost forget, usual doodah but also a Traveler's Bo Staff; which Nick says is his second favorite walking stick. First nice thing in probably 5 months.

I got 10 roots in single run, so as always, your results in the farm may vary. I found it best to watch their path, and then lay spirits in their path so that way you can stay out of the way and let the spirits do their job. Usual junk for me, sigh

I can confirm that the location is right as i am at nick right now. i have no WIK Quests as i beat it and he does show up for me.

Need to kill Joh the Hostile for the bounty, might coincide pretty well with getting some drops. His spawn seems to affect Nick appearing though, so be warned of this.

I believe the fins were collected because he wanted herrings. Been awhile so not 100% sure.

Yes, it was in the first few weeks he collected herrings, which you traded for 3 Bog fins. This is an easy farm.

Exit from LA, run through swamp, kill all bog skales, zone at portal to Scoundrel's and back into NKP and double back to LA. That's what I did. Drop rate was reasonable.

Xanthian, I just ran Scoundrel's Rise with my SoS Ranger. Best run was the last with fins practically raining from the sky. 7 on one run. They may have turned up the drop rate. 5 came from the big group up the hill in the middle.

Really surprising how good this is for light to medium farming, if you have a Ranger. Last skill was set to Destruction, just for fun; but not needed. Somewhere there is a video on youtube of some guy running an SoS ranger for ectos in the UW. Bit extreme, but it shows the potential. For me potential, looks too much like work.

Nic wouldn't spawn. I thought it was because I had the Wanted: Joh the Hostile quest active so I killed him, turned it in and returned, still no Nic though 
And to clarify; I have finished WiK, that is; The Battle for Lion's Arch. But not started the Kieran/wedding stuff.
I've been standing in Gates of Kryta outpost for 10 minutes now and I've already seen 3 others with the same problem.
How hard would it be to have someone at Arenanet to run out to Nic once a week to see if it's working properly? I'm thinking of this time but also when he's spawned in impossible places, took some day/s to fix him then..

I'm having the same problem. No Nicky for me. When i go into Scoundrel's Rise, Jon the Hostile and his group are there but I don't have a wanted quest for him.
I do have a different wanted quest active in a different explorable. I'll finish that up and hope it changes things. I don't have any characters that haven't started WiK so if that's the criteria, i'm outta luck this week.

Another possible route in Tears of the Fallen (skipping the 2-3 Skales in the SW corner of the map). 9-11 mins.
Easier farming route in North Kryta Province. 4-6 mins. Actually used an old Hulking Stone Elemental warrior farming build the first time Nick wanted (indirectly) Bog Skale Fins.

I give up. I have absolutely no WiK quests in my log now and still no Nicky. I've even tried going out there partnered with an account that has not even started WiK and still nothing.

I don't really have any other characters with access to this part of prophecies, so my Warrior is the only one who can farm the skale fins for me. I'm using a Warrior's Endurance Axe build too, with a slight modification for the area.
So after getting a feel for what skills I was up against from dying a few times, I finally took on a henchmen (Gwen) to help me out while doing the "Tears of The Fallen" pathway davehall has already shown.
I had a much easier time after that, and while I probably am not getting the fins to drop as quick as others, it still works/ed for me. Might benefit others in the same boat as me?
Gwen's bar: Hex Eater Vortex, Shatter Hex, Hex Breaker, Cry of Frustration, Signet of Disruption, Leech Signet, Power Drain, Ether Feast.
Modify things as you wish... I just did whatever to help me get through it is all. I'm satisfied

In regards to the Tears of the Fallen route,
If u use Rt SoS spirit spam, take a good interupt mesmer with u.
I must have ran into a group with alot Bog Skale Icetooths.
They use Deathly Swarm, and 6 to 8 of them together using that, well my spirits got destroyed in no time.

You can even try Technobubble if you have access to that PvE skill. Usually they stay very close to each other, so it's not that difficult to land a succesful TB and daze all of them.

My Ranger has WiK, completed BLA. Went out and killed Joh. Then switched to SoS. Joh's area was full of Bog Scale, no Joh. I am not sure why some are having problems with no Nick spawn. All of my qualified characters did complete the Joh quest, no pending.

They are all level 11 and have terrible skills. 10x easier than trying to kill the level 15s and 18s in the other areas.

I use those skills yes.
I am a secondary Rt though, so no advantage from Spawning power.
And I really need an interrupt mesmer.
Solo, my spirits loose against larger groups :-\
Besides that, with me and Gwen droprate is disappointing, 3 per run (Tears of the Fallen)
