As you are mostly all aware now (If not, where the heck have you been?) there has been a trend called Red resign day that occurs when Hero Battles is on the Zaishen Combat.
Get quest, goto HB, play rated match and zone out on landing on red team, repeat match until 2 wins, get reward, repeat quest. The results of this are MASSIVE amounts of gold, ZCoins and Zkeys coming into the game (Some reports of people getting 2 stacks of Zkeys over 24 hours)

It appears this has been confirmed cheating like any other form of match manipulation, and we all know what happened to Rawr as a warning shot for this behaviour during the AT.
Thing is, RR day is SO widespread now that serious banning could effectively wipe a massive chunk of the player base. My question is, what will the live team do about it?

As she says, it is "officially" cheating. Just like going 5 over the speed limit is "officially" speeding. Doesn't mean anything will happen. And with HB being removed soon, I doubt anything will.

The quest should just be removed, if they're not yet ready to take the actual HB from the game. End of RR.

like everyone else is saying... HB (along with TA) is being removed... but has been delayed due to live issues with SD... so whenever SD is ready... HB is gone, and RR is gone with it.

Oh wow this is brilliant. PvE'rs sitting in base waiting for me to resign while I cap the entire map. Eventually they realize I am not going to resign and just leave.

Anet realized that without this reward system, they would lose a lot of players. To maintain a greater player base, Zaishen Rewards were implemented. And of course, as it is human nature, people will try to maximize the amount of rewards in as little time as possible.
Create content that people are willing to play without the need of such a bloated reward system and people will not have a need to cheat. This example is not exactly apples to apples, but look at older FPS games, such as Unreal Tournament or Battlefield. There was no stat tracking initially, but tons of people played again and again. You achieve that content Anet and you don't need a reward system.

yeah, since HB is going away, I doubt they'll dedicate any resources to it. Heck, they don't have any resources at all, as evidenced to their list of Q3/Q4 accomplishments.

With roll 100 which seems like a similar case they simply removed the ability to use it outside outposts/halls/etc. If they want to do something about it just make it so that your don't update the quest if you win was through a resignation. Better yet, just remove HB like they were planning to.

How to beat the system: don't resign and the other noob will just leave because it's quicker for him to find someone else who resigns.

Because of the extremely limited time we have left with HB, anet will most definately let this slide. I think getting in there and having a go even if you're doing nothing for it is better than anet nerfing the zquest before removing HB altogether.

Lol, what can they possibly do? Ask players to report others who are throwing the games? Players that throw the games and those that don't naturally separate from each other, so that would probably dissolve fast. And it's not like they can stop the throwing of matches unless they add Dishonor, which seems to me like a silly thing to do.
It's not like any of this will matter once the arena gets closed, but ANet really should have some good ideas on how to enforce their judgment before they start writing and interpreting their own rulebook.

Judging on how they handled their own rules in the past (design a npc contest) I would say they either do nothing, or give out free ecto to everybody that /resigns.

HB will be removed, that is what's being done about it. doing anything about it between now and that time is nothing more than a waste of the live team's time for such a temporary solution.

I guess it isn't surprising when only 2-3 ppl are supervising the whole mess. Or perhaps this is covered by the "lets not do anything until mainstream" policy as well? Either way, GW does feel neglected.

You would have as much luck getting people to stop spam- selling in Kamadan...
HB will be gone soon, along with this brokenness, until then...
gotta tough it out - either play RR or do what chocobo does -
EDIT : chocobo, noone resigns for you because you dont for them.
so while you win100% of your matches, they are all winning 10x as many by saving 10 minutes per game.
