It's like two people getting into an automotive race and the guy who is driving an eighty five civic getting pissed off because homeboy showed up to face him driving a lambo.
So the Honda boy goes home and pops out his drunkard bot.

Seriously just stop, now.. it's embarrassing.

but the dude in the lamborghini was supposed to be in a civic too. it was in the rules of the race. You see the problem now? if not, I suggest you leave.

agreed. if all it does is prevent you from waisting your time on something and doesnt effect anyone else then it should be ok. if it effected others thatd be a different story.

One question that I still have is about the /report command. This command has an option for reporting botters, but the statement that James Phinney gave only mentioned to go to Support for reporting botters. Can we still count on using the /report command for botters to have some kind of purpose or effect?
If you aren't at a computer with access to Guild Wars, try the NCsoft account. I think the NCsoft account reports back to you on the page with your GW accounts if any are playable or unplayable, maybe this can help you out some bit?

You are completely missing the point. Guild Wars should be played the way it is meant to be played. Titles and achievements, however trivial, should not be further devalued with the ability to simply automate them and walk away from your PC.

'It doesn't hurt anyone' is not a valid point. It hurts the game.

I've been working on drunkard, off and on when I have the ale... for over 2 years. Swear to god, and I'm only ~7600 miniutes in. Granted, I play alts, so I can't drink all the time and I haven't played much in the last 6 months, but still.

People with bots can get the same title in under 2 weeks by afking.

The only reason ale-hound is prestigious at all is because of the massive time sink involved in drinking all that ale. Drunk bot removes that time sink. If you don't see the difference, I don't know what the hell is wrong with you.

It astounds me the amount of mental gymnastics you are doing to somehow see it as being harmful/malicious. A different tune would surely be whistled if you too were using something for drunkard, it's all perspective. Let's step outside of this whole perspective based argument, and go back to what I'm trying to say.

Find me a way in which this can be construed as malicious. And should something that is not proven to be malicious be acted upon.

Money sink titles the prestige has never been about the time to activate the gold sink, it's always been about having the initial gold to complete them.

banning "cheaters" in a dead game, this is classic ban-drafting, i don't trust u at all, i think that u are not capable to process 3.7k accounts now at this stage of the game, you just want to save sever resources, and your slowly shutting down GW cuz the GW2 beta will come in q4 this year.In the beginning the bots were ruining the economy of GW but now after 5 years the bots are the only thing that keeps this games economy rolling by pumping in the resources, consumable price will go sky high now and I didn't max those title yet so u made my task more difficult....

the drunkard title was intended to be gained through manual clicking. you are bypassing this through a bot, which would be considered cheating. to better word your illustrated example (although it fails anyways because drunkard bots are used for pve purposes and race driving would be considered pvp), it would be like a driver with his class c car is pissed off because another driver entered the class c race with a class a car.

anyways, the point is that this game, much like any other, has rules; break them, and expect to be punished.

You're basically saying that honest players not using an autoclicker are idiots.

Wonder why there was no built in drunkard bot. Better yet, we should all be getting the Drunkard title by just clicking once.

Sure.

Disagree. Drunkard is more about the time AND the money. That's why it's more prestigious then sweet tooth, and more prestigious then party points (even though party points were initially rarer and more expensive).

@s73ve_o: having worked on the drunkard title legitimately, you do not just drink ale while afking/watching tv. You drink ale all the time. When I'm playing PvE, I'm drinking. When I'm raptor farming (a farm that conveniently takes about 3 miniutes), drinking. When I'm selling stuff in chat, drinking. When I'm playing RA (not even kidding), drinking. Pretty easy to do when you turn off post processing effects.

oh and in that last line, you say it made your task more difficult which basically means you admit to using a bot (or plan on using one but this has put you off it). That makes me lol a bit more tbh.

im not an idiot im not going to do something that gets me banned. and im not a troll (One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument). i have a point i am trying to make and thats the bottom line. i bought the game and i should be able to play how i want so long as it doesnt impact anyone else. Why would you be mad about other people doing autoclickers for ale hound other than jealosy that you waisted your time on bullshit that shouldnt be in the game in the first place when "my friend" skilled right by it.

Excellent Regina, excellent! Best thing that happened to Guild Wars in recent memory.

Is there a list of all the banned accounts somewhere? I want to know if any my friends got banned (i.e. no point keeping them on friend's list anymore).

EDIT: Some people have said it's better to temporary ban with a warning of permanent ban if it goes on. I'm a firm believer of second chances, so yes I do think this is a better thing to do. However, I'll also say that harsh action is still better than no action at all. I can't say how excited this round of bannings got me, I'm just a bit sad I wasn't online when Dhuum reared his head over GW

Do you dispute that the drunkbot program is a bot? That's why it was banned, because it was a bot. People could create a bot that lets them open and close their storage all day long and it would also be against the rules because it is a bot.

It doesn't matter how much it actually "harms" anyone in the game, bots are against the EULA, use them and you have no defense if you get banned.

---------------------

Regarding the G15 keyboards...soon after they did the contest, they said that as long as they weren't used to automate game play, they were fine.

Assigning /resign to a key, or ; spacebar, that was fine, programming it to do the raptor run, not so much.

I think someone earlier was talking about hitting one key to activate hero skill 6...that's fine (heck, the game itself lets you do that) but hitting one key to activate skill 6 on all heroes, you're probably getting pretty close to asking for trouble in my opinion.

Our bickering is useless either way, truth is either of us can just as easily be wrong, it's time for anet to quit dicking it up and just answer the simple question, drunkbot, bannable or not, answer that question and the shenanigans over it will end.
