Mort, I've been playing GW since Prophecies went live. Not continuously, lots of other games along the way. Never botted or cheated in any online game because, seriously, if you want to cheat then offline games are a lot more fun to "mod."

Just a suggestion, but if you are looking for a new online game this would be a good time to look at EVE Online if you have never played it. The latest Tyrannis expansion is just released yesterday or today and you can get a free 14 day trial to check it out.

Fairly flawed analysis there. Bots exist because Guild Wars is dying? Sooo what about World of Warcraft? Bots are rampant there as well, and their subscriber numbers aren't going anywhere.

Bots exist because 1) People are lazy, or 2) "Pro" farmers looking to make quick money.

If you don't want to play because you don't want to risk running a bot, well don't let the door hit you on the way out mmkay?

GW is declining slowly in population, however ive seen more active players over the last six months than in recent memory. Anet is simply trying to hold on to whatever base they can until GW2 rolls out.

I never said GW is dead. In fact if you read my post i said it is more active now than it has been in quite some time. But anyone that claims it is anywhere near what it was in 05 is simple nutzzzz.

GW as a title has been around a long time. It doesnt have the luxury other games have like COD or the MoH series. the latter can simply pump out title after title with the same characters and new maps and keep it reletively fresh. GW is a much larger undertaking.

Having said that, i do not think GW is a "dead" game as soooo many claim. Its just a game that is a little long in the tooth and theyre trying to milk it for what they can. In light of the fact there will be no more new expansions, what else can they do??? they add a little content here and there and hope it keeps people playing and happy.

I for one feel that anet in making this apparent in one swoop makes it worthwhile
