Petition To Demand A Response From Anet On RMT Botters and Exploiters
cormac ap dunn
Best reason yet to close yet another QQ thread, from both sides. I'd love to see one of these threads not degenerate into a name calling tussle about who is right or wrong, we all know the facts. Those that were banned get nothing from this site in the way of unbanning or helping their situation, those that dislike those that were banned get nothing by abusing them publicly except shame at RAWR behavior later on.
-Swifft-
All of these posts in all of these topics, whether pro-ban or anti-ban, have gotten way too complicated. Needlessly.
Y'all are forgetting one simple thing: Guild Wars belongs to ANet. If they don't want you playing their game, you don't play their game.
When you bought Guild Wars, you said, "Hey, I'll give you $50 to play your game".
ANet said, "Alright then. You can play my game."
You mindlessly installed it, and then clicked on the I Agree button at the bottom of the EULA.
Then, you played for a while and decided to load up a bot, or a script, or whatever else, for X amount of time. Afterwards, you got banned sometime in the near or distant future.
Now, you're complaining that you weren't warned first, or that you only did it for a little while, or that you were just curious... or because of the other limitless excuses you can come up with.
Guess what? The EULA doesn't say they have to warn you about anything. It doesn't say they have "lesser" punishments for "lesser" offences. It doesn't say you get a slap on the wrist for being curious.
It says that at any point in time whatsoever, for any reason, or for no reason at all, they can terminate your account. Period. You have no entitlements. You deserve nothing in or from this game. It's their property.
If you think that's unfair, you shouldn't be whining about it now. You should have put the game back on the shelf and walked away before you bought it.

As a botter who was banned, anyone who botted and was banned and is now complaining is someone I'd rather not associate with. We knew the risks and consequences, and it was fun while it lasted.
Now it's time to move on, restock our account stockpiles with the ectos on the accounts that ANet somehow missed, and relax. That said, in the days since the banscythe, ANet hasn't shown any increased ability to detect non-injected bots, namely interface-based bots. |

As evidenced, the people who botted didn't do it for entertainment, they did it because they wanted to take the easy way and STILL want to take the easy way. They didn't learn a damn thing. Anet should just ban any new accounts bought with a credit card connected to a bot-banned account. Keep these people out of the game because they're never gonna go straight.

I sorta thought Danny made a legit point in the post that was deleted. I mean it's your forum you can delete anything you want or whatever.
But it would seem salient for people to consider what they know about the company based on the company's past performance when assessing the current situation. As a litmus test, the success or failure of people working in different departments of a company may not give a perfect representation of the company's competencies. However, it may tell you something about the quality of product and service they can provide based on the quality of personnel they attract.
Just my two cents.

I think it is entirely to early for this petition, there was alot of assumptions made by OP on the capability, processes, and reasoning of detection when there is no official information on these.
I'm all for eliminating real world transactions...they did take a step in the right direction not but a few days ago...so lets at least give them more than a few days before we get up in arms with our "petitions"? if that is what this can be called.

As much as people say that the OP did bot... As much as that may or may not be true:
An unbiased opinion would show that alot of his points do have merit.
You won't get an official response because obviously ANet has refused to give any important information pertaining to the issue of detection.
But if the mentioned older programs are still running at large, I would find his post to be very accurate in their detection methods and the unfortunate misbans that occured.

I think most can fairly assume the OP is trying to make a point rather then be serious with this "petition". All it really seems to be about is his way to rant about the company that rightfully banned his accounts. The same people doing QQ on what seems like every other thread about what happened Wednesday are regurgitating how they feel Anet and NCsoft are in the wrong for banning them. I feel pretty safe in assuming that he, along with any others that went down for botting won't be getting those accounts back, so to ask a petition to burn the others who didn't get it in this volley seems juvenile to say the least. As for the "petition" portion of all this , Not seeing a whole lot of /Sign so we can also assume the community is inclined to say this is a bad idea, not sure how many pages of /notsign is needed before this is a fail thread, but methinks its coming close.

People who set up bot accounts within a week or so of the mass ban were not banned, as were people who only botted prior to mid Fburary/early March. From this, piecing together the puzzle was a simple task, and one I did with multiple people who were familiar with botting.

Uh.... no, you're just plain wrong. The reason for this is because those players were CHEATING. I don't even see how you can possibly come to this inane conclusion. This is akin to me saying the purpose of imprisoning a murderer is to give the prison systems money... WHAT? They cheated, they got banned. Lemming is a smart man btw, and he knows why his main got banned. Don't bring him into this.

I know the answer, high-end players MUST learn to play against bots therefore some of them should try it cause its the best way of making a tactic against them. |
When I saw too many bots around I simply went away from the game. I came back for the 5th anniversary, just for curiosity, and I still did not engage in any PvP due to bots running around.
If they were so great, they would have kept their accounts at a safe distance from bots. There are no excuses for using a bot. "... wanted to try it... didn't want to grind unnecessary stuff (but still wanted the rewards)... they needed the cash (for what?), and all sorts of lameness.
BOTTERS AREN'T VICTIMS. They decide to run a bot, they install it, they use it. It is their responsibility.
It is a videogame: they cheat ---> they are caught ---> they are kicked out.
It is not Anet's fault. It is not other people's fault.
And... NO. High end players that got banned were not "learning to use the tools to fight against them". It is just another lame excuse. If you go to one of the botters forums you will read about people that got tens of accounts banned and many of them had farmed the HA title, or had farmed thousand of ectos. Again, on multiple accounts.
I want to see RMT botters and other exploiters banned ASAP. They are equal to the ones banned with the 3700. And I hope Anet will clear the game.

I didn't participate, no matter how many of the GW population were doing it or how widespread it was. It was still against the rules.

Wow so many people QQ and rage about bots. Bots have been around since the 55 days of of prophecies kids... get over it... Bots will be around just like you and your rabid thirst for speed clears.... this game is driven to gimmicky nonsense...
Who cares?
PvP:
Kids who cry about rupty... are bad players anyway... rupty was meta for over a month.... no one ran straight melee.... and those rare teams that did (kitkat, exile) actually beat us... it's using your brain retards.. QQ more and go play Aion... You can pvp your little heart away against monsters and people with wings!!! But seriously... go do something else....
Everyone's acting like we locked up criminals.... I botted because I already had gwamm, I already had high rank, I already had money... who cares... what's the difference? It doesn't matter... It actually got to a point that running rupty and watching little kids RAGE their little lives away was more fun that actually playing GW.... GW is dead... there's nothing to do anymore... If A-net really wants to take care of the bot problem.... give the players something to do... then it'll just go back to the small companies in india trying to sell GW gold for RL money...
/signed X 500 if I had to...

Cheating is cheating is cheating is cheating is cheating is cheating is cheating is cheating. See? Doesn't change no matter how many times you say it.
Your logic is flawed and actually, just plain stupid. There isn't anything to do, so cheat? How about.... "I'm out of things to do, I'll go play another game or go find a new avenue of enjoyment in my life" instead of "There's nothing to do, so I'll harass those that still enjoy the game for 'fun' because I'm an asshole."
You weren't a high end player, you were a loser. The truly good players don't grief others and act like this. They are respectful, helpful, and humble in their skill. Yeh... bye bye to you.

You were not only a botter, you were a griefer too.
Is this the kind of "high end/good/best players" that we lost in the ban? And how is this a bad thing?
To use the words with which you addressed other people here, guess who is the "retard", who didn't "use the brain" and who is "raging his little life away".
As I said in your QQ/Rage thread, after 5000+ hours/5 years, which game is still fresh? Can you name one please?
I even told you that if you are bored of a game and don't enjoy it anymore, the natural evolution is that you move to something else, instead of trying to disrupt the game for those who still enjoy it.
(maybe you didn't see those parts because your eyes were blinded by rage? QQ)
GW may be dead for you. I logged in this morning and still had some fun.
Enjoy your ban.
StormX
Exactly, you already had GWAMM and achieved all ingame goals, so you had no excuse to bot, unlike those who have been claiming that they did it to reduced grind. Yet you decided to be immature and grief other players. I'm sure those who were on the receiving end of your interrupts will count it no great loss. Now you get to rage at them while they laugh at you

We all know this, this is why gold sellers should get harser punishment than someone who botter 2 hours at all out of his 7k+ hours gameplay while the RMT-s with their hacked account has 100% of botting time. But in reality goldsellers are indeed smarter than "the new ultimate group" of anet that they have hired.

Anet's policy ever was that all botters, all cheaters, all Real money traders are to be banned ASAP. They've been banning all of them they catch ever since I've started playing GW.
The fact that they can't catch them all or that it takes time to catch up to them (new bots being released etc.) does not mean Anet don't care or that they don't want to ban them.

Please, can you elaborate/explain the meaning of the last quoted part?
From what I understand by reading it, you are implying that since the players can't do nothing about botting, they should start using bots. Is that right?
Are you implying that your solution to a problem in a game you care about, is a contribute to worsen the problem?
Are you saying that the solution to botting is to take a bot and do the same?
Could you clarify, please?

If you bot, you get banned. That's how it is. It doesn't matter wether you bot 3 hours a month or 24 hours a day. Don't go breaking obvious rules and then come back whining after you got banned.
There is no need for different punishments for different 'levels of botting', rules are rules.
And just because A-Net 'doesn't do anything about it' for a long while (Which is a lie, A-Net has banned tons of bots in the past), it doesn't justify botting in the slightest bit.

I'm going to say this to the OP:
Yes, you thought you were a legitimate player because you earned many of your in-game achievements without the aid of a bot. You still think it was ok to bot PVE "grind titles", because you didn't want to grind and considered yourself above earning them.
You still deserve to be gone from the game. Say goodbye to your gold trim, rare minis, stacks of ecto, and everything else you may have gathered over the years of "honest" play.
As to the topic, I'd rather Anet not ban RMT and gold farm accounts. Why? Because I'd rather have them around and known to Anet. I'd much rather have Anet ban the accounts of the players that purchase from these people.

I'd like to point out what this petition could be compared to, just to show you how absolutely insane this request is.
This is akin to the general public asking SWAT when and where they plan to raid meth labs.
You do realize how idiotic that idea is? This is no different. ANET doesn't need to tell us how they are dealing with bots, when they plan to strike, and who they plan to target next. That is none of our business, and the element of surprise is on their side.

Sorry to seem to be picking on you, but this type of statement has been scattered throughout the other threads as well.
Why should they care how the botters feel? The botters chose to ignore the EULA without caring about ANet's or the rest of the community's "feelings".
The "I don't care, I am going to use it anyway," attitude, shows they cared about who?

I love the people who say botting once is like murdering once and botting a thousand times is like murdering a thousand times... in reality botting once is like j-walking because you're late, you know you shouldn't be doing it but if you get caught you get fined like 30 bucks, botting a thousand times to me is more like DUI, you have the ability to do some major damage and if you are caught you do deserve jail time.
Anywho, I think people should be able to pay the fine of their first offence (maybe like $0.25/ecto [$5 per rare mini or whatever] and like $0.10 for every 1k you have) and then a second offence is a permaban. Or you pay like $10 and get your account back with all your characters deleted and storage wiped. I really don't think its fair for the people who botted liked 1s just to see what the big deal is to get a permaban, especially if they have played for thousands of hours.
Finally, I have emailed Anet and not even a "we're busy" response yet...

This is a petition that isn't going to be answered, and it is laced with excuses for cheating and language that suggests those that were banned permanently shouldn't have been, etc.
The thread topic and OP is contaminated with more QQ than I can shake a stick at. Riverside is being poisoned with all this bull about why people don't deserve this and that ban, because they were only doing this and that, and not that other thing, etc. Bot = Cheat = Ban. Simple.
Firebaall
The OP is 100% disingenuous with this topic.
As it may be, his method of cheating was easier to detect with a larger degree of certainty. Anybody that watched the bots in Aion knew those that dll injected or otherwise modified packets were very easy for them to identify. It was absolutely hilarious to watch the botting forums for Aion after the first big dll injection bot ban. Especially since a large portion of those were paid for bots.
I suspect GW got some help from the GSU at PlayNC, and set these injection bots for the hit.
The OP not only cheated, but he used a cheat that painted a huge red target on his back. Do I want the other bots banned? Absoulutely. Will it happen anytime soon? I don't know.
What I do know, is that I'm glad he's gone. I'll take the cull of cheaters whenever I can.
