Check out Post #10.

Also, he's trying to be more like Kormir minus the blind and "more an annoyance than help" part.

In his defense, would you really want to go on a honeymoon with Gwen?

More gross speculation but I predict he will get a bow attack Hero skill that encourages him to be a P/R. Who knows.

People already forgot the Paragon skills he teached himself during the HotN questchain? Come on, it was obvious.

No, I wouldn't want to do anything to legitimize the relationship. Why buy the cow if you are already milking it?

Ironically, as a Ranger I might have used him. As a Paragon, I'll stick with Morgahn, the one with actual story reasons for being what he is. (Don't get me started on Hayda...)
Were you paying attention to the mini-quests as him at all? Or were you paying attention to the unlocked hero text?

The whole point of the quests was to have Thackeray learn how to be a leader. He leads the residents of Beetletun to resist the White Mantle. He gets those Paragon skills to reflect this.

The hero unlocked text specifically says that he was a former ranger who turned from a solitary hunter to a commanding leader.

just tried adding him to HoM, can't be added, also checked to see if you can upgrade his armor at the Hero Armorers in EotN, was a no deal.

This makes me wonder if paragons are a profession in GW2. After all, Thackeray is a legend.

I know that that is their flimsy excuse, and it's frankly ridiculous. A highly trained and experienced scout/archer is not going to give up doing that to become a cheerleader with javelins.

There won't be. Logan's class however, may have some "spiritual" similarities, which is what I believe motivated the change.

ANET employee 2: "I've got! We'll give them an upgradeable version of the Rotwing Recurvebow!"

So then why did you ask if there was any in-game basis for it, if you already knew the answer?

Soldiers turn into leaders all the time. Ever heard of Winston Churchill? He used to take part in cavalry charges. Then he decided to give up being a member of the elite cavalry to be a leader! It's a perfectly fine reason, with an explanation in the game.

Seems like a case where you decided that something is stupid before you really thought about it.

jk. If I still used my paragon, it might have been nice. With Soul Twisting rits, who needs imba's?

My para was my GWAMM, but with ST rits, I don't even use him anymore, what will I do with a hero?

Interesting note about his green bow: It comes pre-customized to your char, but is not only inscriptable, but will accept other bow mods as well.

But yeah, meh. I'll just add this to the other 2 paragon heroes I never use. Maybe we'll get some additional quests that require him at least.

It's called a rhetorical question, and your analogy with Mr. Churchill doesn't really work, as Mr. Churchhill's leadership did not involve him going toe-to-toe with religious fanatics, inhuman sorcerers, and giant magical constructs, to say nothing of the regular Tyrian "wildlife"...

i would so love to hear from a derv about this new quest/hero time frame. i got chars that cant do it yet. so does this mean they miss out on a hero? and if he is supposed to be a para why not a green spear we can mod instead of a bow? not that its a bad thing just wondering. and where is the jingle pet. D: i wanted a new one this year!

"I don't understand why someone would forsake the fine art of being a Ranger to run around yelling at people..." Aidan

"Once when I was still learning the Necromatic arts I used bone minions to act out a wedding. The real thing is so much nicer, though. Especially without the groom's arms falling off." Nola

Seriously the wedding chitchat is really good. Whoever comes up with these should get a raise.

Already tried. Did the Destroyer mission and tried to give Thackery the armor - his name isn't included in the hero listing.

You see it yourself while playing. They guy gets a new calling.
Rangers are loners.
Aidan may befriend and even flirt with with Zho, but it doesn't go beyond that.
To be with someone, you must be the kind of guy that prefers to be around more people, not just with your pet, and nothing says "You'll never fight alone" better than a paragon.

But that's just how I explain it. It could be any other reason, including the one you give. XD

As for changes in profession, players can't do that. But it look like NPCs can.
For example, Alari Double Blade was a ranger, and now is an Asassin.

Am I the only person confused why he starts off with a bow and happens to be a Paragon?

Is ANet trying to tell me "Hey, ignore Spear Mastery when making up a build for Keiran. He wont need it."?

Well, a new hero is always good. Though its pretty easy to predict since as a ranger he ended up learning two para skills by the end. Anyway, don't mind the extra para. Being able to run 4 paras + sogolon will be interesting. Probably add a mm, and orders and maybe a n/rt just to redbar stuff when 7 heroes gets here.

Now only a few more heroes to go till we got 3 of every class

Yeah this is...eh...very odd, I mean another para hero is nice and all, but wth? We're supposed to just forget he was obviously a ranger before hand? Even more perplexing is the fact that he starts with a spear mastery skill on his bar...
