You can be in the NAACP. Hell it was founded(in part) by Whitey.

Anime fan is a hobby/interest, religion or race is something more serious and a lot more personal. So comparing the two is pointless.

I wasn't. I was pointing out a flawed argument, and used an example to demonstrate the flaw in the logic.

Guildwars is a public game. Thus not letting someone join your guild because of their religion is discrimination. If you dont get hired for a private company because of your race/sex/religion you woulnt consider it disrimination cause it's a "private company"?

The Internet has a way of reverting some people to middle school. I wouldn't worry about whatever backlash you're getting. It's likely 10 times less offensive than the crap that gets said about Koreans before every stinking round in the Tombs. Some people just enjoy being abusive to everyone they meet who isn't entirely mainstream.

Christianity is a choice. Last I checked, nobody chose their race.

Alternatively, inviting people who share a common world view is markedly different from excluding someone based on the color of their skin.

More simply, your analogy is flawed and ignorant at best.

Then i do not understand. How is presenting an irrelevant example point our a flawed argument on a completely unrelated topic?

He never said you couldn't join if you were not christian. But, it was also implied that Christians would enjoy the guild more

I dont think religion has any place in a game, but neither does the abuse you recieve. People are verbally abused in this game because of their nationality, theres just lots of langers in this game.

Guildwars is not a public game. It is a product created by a privately held company for the purpose of creating revenue. Additionally, non-profit social organizations are considered private entities and are entitled to have requirements for membership (in fact, they MUST have requirements if they want to incorporate under the official designation, which I believe is 501(c)(3), feel free to correct me ).

Additionally, your lumping together of race and religion as having the same inviolate rights is fallacious. Race is an immutable fact of nature; religion is not.

The laws are the same for descriminating against a persons race as they are against their religion or sexual orientation for that matter.

I would have no problem with that any more than I would have a problem if someone formed a guild that specifically excluded fans of Star Trek.

THAT would be in violation of the rules of this game. And he's never stated that non Christians are not allowed. These are just some people that share and practice the same belief system in life and game.

Give it up, if he's in violation it will be dealt with if not /ignore.

Not true (but unless you have a background in civil rights law we won't go there). And regardless, the application of the law that you're trying to use to justify your argument does not apply to social organizations established within the bounds of a privately held property.

ANYWAY...The point i was trying to make originaly is keep your beliefs out of the game. It's not enough all the problems it causes in real world but people must drag it into fantasy worlds as well. And what kind of a christian organization are u running when it's based on killing things and taking their stuff?

I would prefer the term "Human leadership." Religion has jack to do with being a complete F***tard. Its just a means to an end for some, same for nationality, race, or what have you.

Edit:That of course doesn't make being White or German inherently evil/bad. Theres more to a way of life then the F***tards who are willing to kill in its name.

You could go as far to say that money and power is a religion. Both are worshiped, change peoples lives, and have followers.

Allow me to interrupt the love fest for a minute: are we all away from our gaming machines at the moment? I for one would be playing now rather than read these pointless little tiffs... So where is everyone at???

I agree and disagree. While religion is really separate from being a total asshat, sometimes people hide behind it or use it as an excuse; and then it gets dragged into the equation

Your opinions, when not presented as fact or shored up by insupportable arguments regarding alleged discrimination, are yours and you are free to express them in a respectful manner.

So is the OP.

Be my guest. The point I was challenging was the previous claim in this thread that religion was responsible, in whole or in part, for every act war.
