if you would like to participate in early access and receive your preorder item, you need the key from the preorder box.

So, should I go back to EBgames right now to get the preorder box and everything? *sigh* This is becoming a bother. I went to EB's Sunday and it was closed, and I already went today. I have to walk there and it takes me like 20 minutes.

Well, I recieved my box today. Yes, the retail box. I have the CD in my hand, as well as all the goodies with the preorder.
I'm having this same issue. I registered a new account and put in the activation code on my CD first, not seeing the preorder code in the small envelope that came seprate from the box (damn you Gamestop). According to the Guild Wars' website support page, there's an account page where you can add preorder/CE codes to your account, yet I have been unable to find the page. Where is this page?

I'm sorry, I can't help you with that.
Anyways. I was just wondering (because future shop is closed at this time) that if I got the pre-order box at one store location, that I can go to another future shop location, show the receipt/pre-order box to buy the full game. I'm asking because on their site it says they have it starting at 9am today, but it specifically excludes the location near my house by saying on that location doesn't have it yet. I'm aware that they'll probably have it on the 28th, but I'd rather just get it tomorrow at another location so I don't have to do it later on in the week.

Call them first. If they have a pre-order box left, then try to get it.
If not, you will have to wait till (28th)Thursday in order to pick up the game and get the key to play.

As far as store pre-order goes: Depends on the stores policy. Most will tell you to go to the store you origianly ordered from.
About one store having it available earlier than the 28th, be careful. Stores are required to sell product at the release date set by the distributer. If sold early the store can get themselves in trouble and fined.
If they are selling it earlier and it is the real game not the pre-order box, then by all means get it if it is more convenient that way for you.
Pantheras
In order to get early access you will need the pre-order box and need to use the key provided in the box in it to get access 48 hours before people that didn't pre-order. Most retail versions of the game should arrive in stores on the 26th some a little earlier some later. On the 29th if you didn't get your retail version with your new key then you will be unable to play without the retail key.

Ok, I pre-ordered the game on the 24th or 25th (dont know exactly because it was around 12 oclock). Today (25th) I received the eb games email saying my item was sent. So my question is this: Do I receive my special preorder key with my game?
I do need the pre-order key to beable to play on the 27th right? Or will the retail key work for the 27th, and the only purpose the pre-order key serves is to negate the time shipping takes for the loyal pre-orderers?

you will need pre-order key in order to play on 27th.
after 27th, you will need a retail key in order to continue.
hope it helps

I was under the impression that preorder keys would last for 48 hours rather than just 24.
However, I've been wrong in the past...

Yak - Go to Target and get a pre-order box for a buck and see if that works. If it dosent, you are out the price of a taco.
βlitzkrieg
By "preorder key" you mean the beta key that is sent when you preorder right?
Mss Drizzt
simple answer yes.
EB games is selling the pre-order box for $.01

Nope, that's cool, I've still got mine

Thanks for the reply.
I'd rather just wait then and by it when it comes to my location, to see if I can save the $10.

Some people have mentioned that thier beta key was emailed to them, but this does not happen for all stores.
Best bet, either be patient and wait for the game to come in or go to a store that has a pre-order box left and buy it.
Previous posters have found the pre-order box being sold for as little as $.01 to $1.00.

I just preordered the game a few days ago after BWE so I didn't get to play that. If I wanna play on 4/27 (Wed), all I need is the stuff that installed from my CD? It's only like 10 mb so I'm not sure if that's all I need to run this game. Do I have to download the client from somewhere? Thank you in advance.

When you pick up the full game on the 28th, I am understanding that it is recommended that you install the info off the CD to save on download time later on in the game.

Is it possible for someone using a previously unused buddy key to access the early access period that starts on the 27th?

Good question.
From reading, the friend key is only good for the BWE events. So it would be safe to say that the freinds key would not work.

So does anyone have anymore information on how CompUSA is doing things? I walked into the store, picked up the pre-order box, paid $10 for it and walked out... does that mean they have one reserved for me? Will they deduct my $10? And does anyone know when they'll let me pick it up? I called them got transfered twice and listened to a ring tone for 5 mins before hanging up. I'll try again when I get home.
Dred Skullord
CompUSA told me that the game will be sold at 10:00 am on the 28th. However, my local store could not verify whether they had the game in stock to be sold on the 28th.

I pre-ordered my game through one of the retailers way back over the summer. Then we moved and i lost the receipt fo rmy pre-order. It didn't really matter to me then, because i already had a beta log-in and password. So i just ate my ten dollars and re-preordered thru ebgames. To make a long story short..got my full version today from ebgames and it had an additional beta pre-order kit. I don't need it because, as mentioned, i already have beta access. So if someone wants to private message me, i can help out!

The Ad I got with the Sunday paper says available Wednesday, April 27th. I just hope they don't sell out of CE's, because a lot of people want them. 0_o

Quick question, Can you make a new character with your preorder version or only use the name you had? Also if you can make a new one, can you delete your character and reuse the name again or do you have to wait for release?
Thank you
Thank you

From my experience from the beta, your name is put on hold for you for a period of time. So if you build a charcter then want to delete and start over, you can keep your name from that previous character as long as you create the new character soon thereafter.

Im sure this has been asked (and answered) a million times over:
I bought my preorder box from best buy for $10 a few weeks ago and participated in the last beta weekend event. What should I do to get into the game on the 27th? Do I need to go to best buy on the 27th (tommorow) and buy the full client (hopefully with my $10 discounted though best buy does not have the greatest customer service) or do I need to sign up somewhere or can I just log on using my existing account tommorow. After that do I need to do anything else (eg. at what point do I actually go out and buy the game).

Your beta key will allow you to get early accsess and that is it. After the 28th, you must have purchased the full retail version and enter in the retail key in order to keep playing.

So I strolled into my neighborhood CompUSA fully expecting to walk out with the collector's edition of Guild Wars in hand. How wrong was I. Apparently, even though the store annouced that prebook copies would be available for purchase on the 26th (today), they've been informed they'll be sued if they do so. So, instead of 24 hours of "preorder only" Guild Wars, it'll be 24 hours minus however long it takes people to go get the box early Wednesday morning.
I suppose this brings up the question, "sued by whom?".

The publisher of the game. All retail stores are held to a contract not to release games/movies/cd's before the release date. "Breaking" the release date can get that store or company fined or they can lose the ability to sell that product in the store.

Unrelated question - how many characters can I have per account? Will I be able to create more than one account using one key?

I guess if you wanted to "share" your account with your friend/sibling/parent/pet you can create 4 different characters, but only one can play at a time. If someone wants thier own account, they have to buy thier own copy of the game. This I recommend for if you join a guild, all 4 charcters are apart of that guild.
