I am a newb, and i didn't fancy reading all the replies, yes I know, lazy but i am at work and if me boss catches me it would be bad news. So sneaking this post in fast.

I am in the UK.

Do I have to buy the North American version of the game to play with my North American friends?

I heard that there might be just one server, seamless, 10,000 people playing on it, just i think GW going to be popular so wondering if there will be more then one server and/or regional servers.

If you look on the guild wars web-site, I read that there will be many servers located around the world. You can choose which geographic region you wish to play in, if you have friends in the U.S. then pick a server there. It will not be just one big server.

Ya i bought the pre-order bos from best buy today, and when i went to enter the access code it told me i already have access to these rights from this code, or soemthing to that affect i dont remeber it all and then it had ER=105 under it. I wrote the support people, but no answer back yet, so anyone got an swer fer me or am i boned?

I pre-ordered my guildwars game from gamestop.com and it did not mention even the slightest detail of getting a preorder package or being able to participate in the early access on the 27th.

What I was wondering is, will I be able to start when Guild Wars starts up for early access and if so how am I going to get the key required to join in on this.

No, you are not "boned".

I believe this is the way it is set up and the code should work on the 27th. I played the previous BWE so I know the code is valid.

Totally confused, with info all over the place.

If I go to ebgames.com Today -April, 24th- and purchase the Guild Wars with Bonus! box (the link from the GW Preorder FAQ), will I be able to play on April 27th? I believe I can dl the client from guildwars.com, but need a key.

EBGames says the preorder boxes will ship on April 26th. Obviously it's not going to arrive in 1 day (I'm not paying for overnight shipping). I want to order this correctly so that I can be sure I'm able to play on April 27th, with the bonus items, etc.

Here's the question in a nutshell.
Do I have to wait until the 29th to actually play (Free 3day shipping at ebgames), or does EBGames email me a key (preorder, or a real live key) that I can use with the client DL from guildwars.com on April 27th?

from my understanding..

NO they will not emial you a key. You will get it in your box.

If you get the pre-order box first, you can only play from the 27th till Midnight on the 28th PST (I am assuming PST since that is the time frame they used during the BWE). If EB ships you the regular game and you get that on the 29th, you are all set to play.

I like the idea of being able to play early with my pre-order key. However I would like to reccomend that those keys be extended for a few days after the offical release date. My reasoning for the extension is this...
1- Those that need to wait for their retail version to acctually make it to them through the mail/UPS/FedEx, etc.
2- Those that need to wait to get to the retail outlet where the pre-order was placed. For various reasons, work, school, etc.

It seems like a waste for those individuals to get an "early" start then be off for a few days then start again. While others that just walk into EB,BestBuy,Target, etc just keep on merrily slaying beasts and other guilds without interruption.

This happened to me with the Dang EQ2. (witch I no longer play) Pre-order direct from SOE and get email appollogies while others that did not preorder happily while away the hours just cause they walked into a random store that got MY preorder.

Any way, I enjoyed the BWEs and look forward to next week.

Are the boxes that are available to purchase now in retail stores good for April 28th on? I'm confused about "beta" keys versus "retail" keys. If I buy a box off the shelf today, is it the real deal, or just a beta key.

The boxes available:

If it is the small yellow and white box...that is the pre-order with the "beta" key.

The other box with the Necro lady on it is the full release verision with the "retail" key

the "beta" key from the pre-order box will (the small yellow and white one) will work from the 27th(midnight) till the 28th(midnight). After that, you need the "retail" key from the other box to continue playing.

"How does Early Access work? How do I change my account from a preorder to a retail account?

If you have already activated your preorder account, you will find that you are able to enter the game using that account on April 27th. If you have recently acquired a Guild Wars preorder, you can simply input the key into your account page and you will then gain Early Access when it begins. You will convert your existing account from preorder to retail on April 28th, when the retail version of Guild Wars goes live. To do that, simply access your account page, enter your retail key and enter (or re-enter) the game.
You need to be sure that your retail account is tied to your existing preorder account in order to derive the benefits of preordering. If you did not preorder, but have character names reserved from participation in our Beta Weekend Events, you will likewise want to use your existing pre-release Guild Wars account. Once the retail version is launched, open the account page, input the retail key, and you're off to the Kingdom of Ascalon. And if at any time you want to change the user name/email address to which your account is connected, you will have that option on your account page."

So what I am taking from this if you have a Pre-Order box that CD Key will work on the 27th, but you have to have your retail CD key uploaded to your account before 12:00 midnight PST on the 28th.

2 questions.

1. Where is the account page? is it in game or on the site?

2. When i try to put in my pre-order key, it says my account already has acces to what this key provides. I have never put it in before!!! It just comes up with the screen that asks for my pre-order key. and stays on it. I got it from simply games and im in UK i tried to enter this 25 april. Do i need to put it in on 27th? im confuseeeeed!!! help me please they sent me the key in email. ERR=105

A lot of people are getting the same error. Not official answer, but I would have to say that this is in prep for the release.
The beta key will work on the 27th.

Not sure why you would be picking it up tomorrow, but:

if you look back my previous posts above...

the small yellow and white box is the pre-order box with the beta key.

The larger box with the necro lady(I think there may be other characters on the retail box) on it will be the retail box will have the retail key.

YOu should be only getting one box, not two.

Most stores do not have any more of the Pre Order *yellow tag at top* boxes.. so you will just be getting your Reatil Version....

I know that but what I mean is since I pre-ordered it then shouldnt I get the pre-order box? And if I do then I get to play for about 2 days then I need the retail key so shouldnt I get the retail box for the retail key?

Correct.

If you are picking it up tomorrow, you will (and should) be getting the pre-order box with the beta key that allows you to play from the 27th till the 28th.
On the 28th, pick up the regular retail edition and that will have your key for you to continue playing.

I suggest you use the beta key first get your pre-order item and then use your retail key.

I am a little confused as to how this is going to work. From what I understand if I preorder the game, like buy it today, I will get a bonus cd and a key that I can use to reserve a name etc and will give me a extra item. I will also have the ability to play the game 48 hours before hand.

My question is how do you play the game before the launch date if the games are not available then to install? Would you install the client off over the internet?

Go to the official site ( http://guildwars.com/ ) and click on that sign that says "download the client". It's a small zipped file.

You get to play on the 27th. Which is 24 hours before everyone else gets to join in. But you can continue playing through the 28th. On the 29th you get cut off. There will be no whipe for the Early Access period. It's the actual game.

the client is like a 72 (?) kB (yes, kiloByte) download from guildwars.com . You will never need a cd to play. What you are paying that money for, is just the code, which will enable you to play. All that the cd offers is eyecandy, music, info and stuff.
