Immediately cast backfire, followed with empathy, then spam wastrels worry, the guy will kill himself in a few seconds.

The easiest way to do this with the ele is to go Earth and equip armour of mist or whatever, the one that makes u immune to all dmg except lightnening, dont equip any lightning...
be sure to equip it in ur 1 skill bar slot...
they have a tendency to cast from left to right...
then put what ever u want because u can do dmg but he cant just dont cast it on him!!!

I fell in love with mes as second prof with my first character. Really how can u beat conjure phantasm. So my experience with dopple has always been with mes abilities, so if u can bring backfire and empathy and lots of usless stuff...
I use backfire, dop uses empathy. i use wand or staff and dont care what dop does cause every spell (maxed out my dom points) literally sucks the life outta it. Very fast, no stress and voila off u go.

Ummm Yes... Sometimes I like to kill my double just for fun... seriously...

Anyway my Level 20 warrior can assinate him in a few seconds, but I like to try other bulds... I tried to kill my double with my Warrior Solo Build and basicly I was unable to kill him and he was unable to kill me... we stood there for about 10+ minutes just hacking away at one another and neither of us died, I just figured it would be a never ending battle.

Here's the cheat way to do it for ranger.

Equip all bow attack skills. Move within melee range of Doppleganger. Equip an axe and hit him. Once your Doppleganger also equips an axe then switch to bow and kick his ass.

lol i killed my ele doppelganger in less than 20 seconds!!

i beat him in 12 secs with my lvl 16 w/r with my sundering sword of spartha and shield of the wing i had a bunch of useless hammer spells and two sword with no healing! so i came in killed him but it happened so fast i was like WTF use fury mainly bcuz he uses it alot and it does dobble damage to HIM evry time u hit so i hit like 100 with seeking sword

Hmm, Im having trouble with this. Im a N/E so Im taking useless crap spells and he is tanking me to death with melee and bow hits. If I take any decent spells we both use them and I seem to die quickly. So far my best chance has been running around in circles but he chases me firing 30+ Hp damage arrows and occasionally stopping to use a -10% Hp spell. But his bow hits are too powerfull to stay alive long enough for him to sacrifice himself to death.

Im slightly annoyed that I am apparently not good enough to kill him as easily as everyone else here!

I really cant bring my regular build either, I specialise as a MM and 6/8 spells require a corpse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey....im a mo/me and i am also trying 2 beat dopple...I tryed a few times...and it still didnt work i tried retribution + healing breeze + zeolots +Reversal and usless enchants it still didnt work i died in -5 seconds...som1 said 'how much health u got m8?' and i said '380 m8 y?' (im lvl 15) 'with 380 health u aint gona go nowhere unles u bring holy wrath from ascalon settlement' (so i went ona lenthy journey 2 there) i cam back and he kill me in not -5 secs...but 5 secs this time...some1 sair bring empathy/backfire and dodge arows...at first he cast back fire on me without me noticing then i finsihed cating backfire then i cast empathy....i was dead in 2 hits 263 damgage each spell...i tried again and i kept getting hit at som points and i had 2 recast empathy and healing breeze for health....you guse what....I still died I used symbol and alot of smites I dided in -10020902390293,0000,0000,0000 seconds....Btw I have normal monk armor from ascalon...u think i should get dessert collectors first and try another
10+ times or dose ne1' of u know a build that could help me.....I am sorta deperate here....

You forgot Hexbreaker. Cast Hexbreaker just before you enter the mission, then backfire Doppy. Doppy will hit you with Backfire, but Hexbreaker will deflect it, then just recast hexbreaker. Add some junk hexes that don't affect you that the doppy will cast, and he'll kill himself on the backfire.

It works just like on the first post on the first page, Ascended my Mo/Me not long ago with those pointers.

And.. Ascalon armor won't prolly be the best choice either Collectors or just get some off crafter at Amnoon...

Killing Doppelganger was frustrating for me, it took about 3 hours of switching skills to come up with something that finially worked. Here is what I had:

Necromancer/Monk Lvl 20 (health 510/ energy 51)

Shadow Strike
Defile Flesh
Dark Aura
Dark Pact
Heal Party
Scourge Healing
Vital Blessing
Retribution

Weapons: Deadly Cesta, 6-9 Cold dmg, Energy +10, Energy Regin -1

Off hand: Grim Cesta, Energy +11, Armor +4 vs Phys Attack

Armor: Tormentors set from Drokners Forge (70 Armor)

Energy was at 51, but one of my cestas has -1 energy. With Vital blessing and Retribution also running, it left only one pip for energy regeneration.

Defile flesh, Dark Aura, Dark Pact, and Heal Party were for Doppelganger to use. I turned on Vital blessing and Retribution before entering the arena. Once in, I threw Scourge Healing and then Shadow Strike. Those were the only ones I kept using. Doppelganger used the other skills which sacrificed his blood or energy. He also used Heal Party, but then Scourge Healing kicked in and did him -63 damage each time he used the 15 energy skill, 2 for 1.

I didn't get the bonus, it probably took a few minutes and was down to the wire between us, but he ended up dying first (probably around my 30th try).

For my R/Mo it was easy at lv 12, just loaded up with 5 spirits and 3 traps. Right when I entered to vs him I went close to him, not too close because he would set of a trap on me. I place barbed and flame trap then I attacked him, he went close to me to melee since I wasnt far. Traps went off and he started running, add that with barb, he didnt run far enough to pull out his bow and came to melee me and died. 20 second match, very easy.

I just ascended my R/Mo yesterday. I got whupped the first few times, but then I realized I was level 18, so it had what, 80 more health than me, and I still had my 61AL Amnoon armor instead of the 70AL collector's armor. But I got it on the 5th try with my same staple of skills- Scourge Healing, Orison, and this time I threw in Tiger's fury to get him to start healing faster. 12 Smiting, rest in BM. When I did beat him, it was still under 50 seconds, so I got my 50k experience. What did I do different the 5th time? I moved in close at the beginning. Get in his face and he immediately switches to the axe, and the axe does WAY less damage than the bow.

I beat my doppelganger today too. Its funny how you either get killed quickly or you kill him quickly! I killed him in around 25 seconds.

I used 5 health sacrificing skills (for him) and I used Iron Mist right away followed by Lightning.

Im so glad I have been able to switch secondaries, Elementalist and with a Necro was just a bad pairing.

indeed. I did the same thing, sacrifice skills, with a lvl 5 necro...made lvl 12 and was lfg in tombs (old tombs)

Just so everyone is clear the fact that he/she/it doesn't use healing breeze is not a glitch. If you notice, monsters and henchies don't use it either unless there is some kind of degen they are trying to counteract. It is what healing breeze is best at anyway...it really isn't that great at healing you unless your max heatlh is extremely low.

I still feel that many people are missing the point with the doppleganger. You DO NOT need a trick build to beat your mirror. All skills have a weakness of some kind, find that weakness and exploit it against him/her/it.

Hi guys, is it possible to kill the dopple with a lvl10 R/Me? Ive tried several times but it just kills me..

Ive tried to concentrate on mesmer skills like empathey to help him kill himself, as if i put powershot in he deals 200 on me and im dead.

I haven't been successful so far with even lowering his health below 50%, any tips... i have 351health without armor, got some runes on armor so they don't help with health, i just removed armor and lived a little longer..
