To whom are you referring? If it's the Mo/W build, I'd appreciate your thoughts on how to increase the damage. Perhaps bumping up smite and throwing balt's aura, zealot's fire, or something similar in there? |

Wow. Maybe one day I'll pump my warrior up like that.. That's awesome.

Hahaha... Just for kicks I tried to re-spec my W/Me to farm griffins. Specced for defence it could be done, but the damage output was so low it took AGES to kill them. The fight lasted upwards of an hour. Seriously.
I'll leave the griffins to the W/Mo's & W/E's; for a W/Me, caster mobs like storm kin are just so much easier & faster to take out than pure melee mobs like griffins.
I didn't get anything noteworthy either, but at least I finally got enough iridescent wings for the collector.

lil off topic i guess, but is there a good place to do this in kryta?
Andy of Glacieria
No good place to do in Kryta im afraid, try talus chute ice cave with trolls. Well, it's no prob to aggro an army behind u its just that the drops would be different, would be much easier etc.

Lady Dazzler and everyone else selling minotaur horns and griffon wings for outrageous prices, don't be so greedy. I know money is tight at the moment, but that is pretty absurd pricing. Stay around 50g or I will advertise a lower price to undercut you. And yes you can easily switch districts and continue to sell, but if I see an outrageous price in my current dist, well you know what I will do. And dont send me a whisper then log off GW (-_-) |

Kinda hard to prove a nerf via a screenshot as you could easily just snap a bad run. I don't get a gold every run or even a purple. But go ahead and lets see the results anyway.

I have to say, Nerf'd.
Yeah, I gave those away.

I thought it was a wonderful video, very very very nicely done. /Congrats

You haven't killed alot there haven't you? Even if the gold and purple drops have been nerfed, you would still get a substantial amount of griffon wings, minotaur horns and stacks of 70-120 gold. If, of course, you have taken out the same amount as shown in the video.

Well, I've been hunting drakes for a while now. It's a slower process than this but I am getting decent results. I just might switch to this for a change. Good to know.
BTW, I the soundtrack and intro to the video is awesome.

I have been getting like 2 blues a run, a purple every other, and a gold like 1 in 5. Selling white loot plus the gp that drops nets me around 12-1500gp a run cashwise. Plus the xp. Not bad for 5 minutes or so (I kill them in two mobs rather than just one). Still not as good as Monday and Tuesday it seems. And this is over say 30 runs before and 20 after the update.
teny10
I think they stop dropping good stuff when you do the same run over and over again. I guess it's good to do this run for a bit and then switch to something else, and later switch back and so forth. When I started my drake run I got at least one gold on every try and two or three on occasions. And now it's getting dry.
Guess it's time to hunt some griffons.

Here's my first post on GW Guru and since I've been getting so much information off this forum I thought it'd be fitting if I shared some.
I used Jczech's strategy and messed around with it a bit.. here's what I use now:
Mo/Me
Inspiration 9
Healing 8 (enough to get a +3hp for mending)
Smiting 10
Protection 14 (this is as previously mentioned, the most crucial)
Divine 12
Skills:
Mending
Blessed Signet
Channeling
Zealot's Fire
Divine Boon
Balthazar's Spirit
Essence Bond
Protection Bond
Equipment:
Monk's armour (from Ascalon City).. just get the cheapest armour you can find. Get the hat with +1 protection prayers.
Runes:
All 4 monk superior runes plus one other monk superior.. whichever's cheaper. I found the Superior Protection rune to be the cheapest so I bought it... the reason is to bring your HP down. (at 105hp i was taking 5 dmg per hit which was offset by the +3 mending quite well) You do not want your HP to be too low otherwise if you're hit by a flame trap on your way out you get killed almost instantly.
*deep breath*
Most of this has been explained but I'll do it again for the benefit of the searchers. First cast Mending, Essence Bond, Protective Bond and Balthazar's Spirit then cast Blessed Signet to bring your energy up to more than 15. Aggro at least 8 minotaurs/griffons. Mending should keep you alive as long as you keep running (the autorun key is your friend). Cast Channeling first, then Zealot's Fire and then spam Divine Boon. By now you'll have -1 energy regen but it doesn't matter as long as you have enough creatures round you to gain more energy than you're losing. You only need about 7 to offset the Divine Boon cost plus the -1 degen but I use the minimum of 8 as a rule of thumb just in case.
The key to this build is watching your energy. You need at least 15 energy to cast Channelling followed by Zealots. Once you've killed most of them Channeling won't be giving you enough energy to offset what you're using. Your energy will then fall to below 15. Immediately remove Divine Boon to remove the energy degen then cast Blessed Signet to get your energy to at least 15. Then run and agro some more mobs. I usually clear the area within 2-3 cycles... Nowhere near as impressive as Kalgarath's vid, but it get's the job done.
One last thing.. Try to run away from the devourers.. with more than one of them around a stray interrupt could mess you up. They tend to chase you for a while then give up if you run far away enough from where they spawned. It takes a while to get used to but I've been working on it for only 3 days and I think I've got it nailed.
Kudos to all those who thought up the principles behind this build.

so i run griffons with my smiter, setup as: mark of protection, blessed aura, balth's spirit, divine boon, balth's aura, zealot fire, symbol of wrath, and i keep switching around for my last skill (currently whirling defense -Ranger secondary).
i have no problems killing all of the griffons that mob me, but usually there are like 3-4 that sit behind and watch the rest fight me. those 3-4 pop in at the end, and i cant kill then, nor can i manage to pick up all the items before i leave. any way to deal with them?

Excellent movie!
I tried the War/mo build but that didn't work very well so I used the Smiter build instead. Protective Bond, Essence Bond, Balthazar's Spirit, Mending, Healing Breeze, Bonnetti's Defense Shield of Judgement/ Symbol of Wrath.

damn, man, you inspired me!
i adjusted my monk a little, so i could try this too.
i use the cheap protective bond/low health trick for this one, and i can tell you its lots easier then with the wa/mo! if you do it right you got MUCH more time to react correctly.
i can pull em ALL together, then put up a breeze, just to make sure, and then i bonetti, aura and shieldofjudgement em away.
even if i think, my way works better and is cooler () i have to say
THANK YOU for that crazy inspiration.
i guess, i get me fraps or sumfin and then i show it off :P

I do a run in the desert as well, although it is not that area. I typically get ~5 rare items an hr (rare hammers usually) and make ~5-10k gold an hour. I run a similar build to the ones that have been posted and that much I will share with you. As for where I farm, or any locations, lol, find em out for yourself.
Dolyak Sig
Glad Defense
Balhs Aura
Symbol of Wrath
Orison of Healing
Healing Sig
Riposte
Zealots Fire
9 Healing
12 Smiting
7 Str
10 Tactics
I am half tempted to switch out Riposte of Vigorus Spirit or something else like Watch Yourself, but this works fine. Plus, I like avoiding the attack and the enemy taking dmg from it as well. Oh, and I also use the Henge +5 energy sword and a healing ankh with either +12 energy, or the +12+15 energy +30 health ankh.
*edit* If you do happen to figure out where or what I am farming, don't blab it out here, lol. I'd like to keep that spot just the way it is.

1. You're surrounded by a LOT of melee mobs (5+)
2. You're surrounded by the same TYPE of melee mobs.
In the areas i use this build, I'm surrounded by a large number 15+ of the same type of mobs. It works wonders. Everything gets the same damage, everything dies at the same time, and you stay at full energy the entire time channeling is up.
My point?
I find it much better to use a warrior sub with bonetti's defense as a means of energy regen as opposed to channeling when farming this particular griffon area. You'll most likely be surrounded by griffons, devourers and minotaurs...and the differing combinations of health will usually leave you with 3-4 mobs left (enough where you can't use channeling to get energy back). With B.D., those 3-4 mobs will be plenty to regen your energy. I do like your solution to the problem though, but my farm build is jam packed and can't spare any extra skills
Happy non-bot keepin it real farming.

i go hunting griffons too when i need some quick cash...
takes me between 10 and 13 minutes to clear the bowl near augury with my battlemonk.# somehow i experienced worse drops last days (mostly shields now)
my setup: healing touch, shielding hands, reversal of fortune, shield of judgement, symbol of wrath, balthazars aura, zealot's fire, balthazars spirit
smiting at 15, divine 10or11 rest in protection and healing.
frapped vid existing; pm me for link

I like your idea of only taking on 1 type of mob... my current approach is to aggro half the mobs in the area (regardless of type) run until the devourers give up chasing, kill as many as possible, then repeat with the other half.. not very elegant but it's working at the moment. Still I have died a couple of times when I wasn't paying attention to my energy bar because I was trying to pick up stuff from the ground.. I tried aggroing everything in the area just for fun and managed to survive pretty well.
I think the advantage of the Zealots + Boon combo is it's more geared towards survival.. pretty mindless once you get used to it. An extra point or two into divine favour also helps.

i got a couple of questions. first will be concerning the original video. these 2 questions might even be related.
if you look close at his health bar. you see 3 regen pips. every once in awhile. it goes up to 4 while he is running around gathering the mobs. why are the health pips going up and down. what is causeing that.
he also meantioned he uses a vamp axe. how exactly does a vamp (axe, sword, bow) work. like a 4/1. could someone go into detail alittle on this. i've never wanted to use one, but also don't understand how they work.
could the vamp axe he has be the reason for his health pips going up and down while he is running?
and why does he have points into strength, when he uses no strength skills. is that what is messing people up when they try to put their points in the same skills he has. cause no one can match what he has done. they all come up short.
and my last question is regarding divine boon. how does one really spam that skill effectively. do you keep one on and recast another over and over? do you cast one, remove it and repeat that?
sorry for some nubian questions. but like most people and myself in this game. we love it, understand most of it. but with XXX hundred of skills to learn. most of us might only really understand how to use only the general skills. not even realizing the full potential of everything we have in our arsenal.

I use Jelly Samwich's UW solo monk build with Divine Boon instead of Healing Breeze...
Divine Boon
Bonetti's Defense
Balthazar's Aura
Zealot's Fire
Blessed Signet
Protective Bond
Essence Bond
Balthazar's Spirit
Attributes:
(Requires 8 attribute refunds for proper set-up)
To start...
3 Healing (0+3)
11 Smiting (8+3)
16 Protection (12+4)
11 Divine Favor (8+3)
7 Tactics
Use an item with +1 prot prayers, pop on Protective Bond. Keep recasting until you get a prot bond that says "You lose 1 energy or the spell ends." Something like that.. anyways, make sure the green number is 1. Now switch over to your smiting hat, take 4 points out of protection and pop em into smiting. You should now have 11 prot and 16 smite. Put on Bal's Spirit, Essence Bond and Divine Boon. Now round 'em up!
The max they ever hit for is 5, so it's no big deal. Running around is easy and you just stop for 1/4 second to pop your divine boom for a complete heal. Once they're rounded up, hit Divine Boon followed in rapid succession by Zealot's fire and Balthazar's Aura. Sometimes an asshole rockshot will interrupt your Zealot's Fire (which does most of the damage here). Just sit tight and stay alive until Zealot's is back up. Use it and spam the hell out of Divine Boon, dealing massive amounts of damage and keeping you healed. You will get enough energy from the Essence Bond/Bal's Spirit to spam away until most of em are dead. When you get way low on energy, pop on Bonetti's and let it fully recharge. Keep using bal's aura, divine boon, bonetti's until there are only 1-3 left. Then you can start using Blessed Signet to recharge energy while you kill off the stragglers.
It actually goes a lot faster than using a warrior and it's a LOT easier..

sorry to be asking about divine boon again. but i think the reason i am confused, is because divine boon is a maintained enchanment. if you keep spamming it over and over, won't those enchanments stack up and give you negative energy regeneration?
