Quick question, are memsers good for farming.
I have a me/mo and willing to switch to another 2nd pro if I can far with the mesmer.
I like her more than other characters and would not find to farm with her than my warrior.
If so then what are the best skills to have.

I sold all my wood via parchment, when it hit about 1k per 10. Think that's a pretty good rate for parch, to sell?

Those of us who hate farming will probably be poor forever then. :P

A few sigils and a few droknar runs got me all the gold I'd ever need for my characters, present and future. Having 1000 plat is just for the ego boost. It's really a waste of time, there's no practical reason behind stashing all that gold.

Here is how you make money:
Farm random areas for about a week or two, be patient.
Now you will have a couple thousand gold from items/drops.
Now wait for A-net to do some major change with merchants/economical things.
Buy lots of low price items and hoard them all away from others.
Keep these items and sell them at ridiculous prices to other people who weren't allowed the same opportunity you were.
Wait...this already happened!?!?!? A-net beat me to it...

Simple tip for those who sell weapons/shields/items/etc. to the merchants:
If you notice the weapon/shield/item you are selling to the merchant doesn't have a price in its description, use an ID kit on it to get one. Doesn't matter if it's an 'unidentified' item or not. The only thing you should be looking for is the price and whether or not it exists (sometimes drops come with prices, other times not). By comparing the price of your unpriced item in the 'sell' window before and after you ID it, you'll quickly realize that the merchant tries to undercut you on unpriced items. (Pretty real-world thing to do IMO - after all, he's trying to make a buck himself.) There will often be 10-40g added to the price. After only doing this to a few items that you plan on selling off, you can make back the price of the ID kit plus a little extra gold this way.
In the short term it may not seem like much, but long term it really adds up.

Brother Mehnlo - You won't really get a straight answer from anyone about where they farm, partly because Anet do tend to read these threads, and as soon as they see an increased pattern in players farming a specific area, they tend to apply the nerf bat. (Although whether this is true or not is a moot point)
Like what many people have already said on this thread, find a spot that suits your character, both in the level, and also with the skills and class that you have (e.g, if you are a W/Mo, go for the larger beasts that only do physical melee damage. If you're a pyromancer, hunt in the shiverpeaks etc.) - tweak your skills and get used to your area.
Once you have found a good spot, then farm it, and try and find another spot. One of the important things about farming is that if you overfarm, the quality of drops decreases. Just switch to another farm spot that you find, and carry on. With 3 or 4 farm spots, you can keep your drops fresh, and discover diffrent techniques to help you out.
Finally, if you do find a good spot that seems to work for you, keep it under your hat. Firstly, there is no indication that a spot that gives you good drops will necessarily give another player good drops. Secondly, if you do give away your farm spot, before you know it, everybody'sd there, and it's only a matter of time before Anet "Suppress" the drops in that area.

where to farm is my questions, divinity, where, WHERE I SAY, please tell me or give me a map or something im clueless ive got 300hrs into the game about dont have 15k armor only had 20k in storage the only farming ive ever tried was drake runs, too long. Would someone give me the greatest post of all time!!!
I use a LVL 20 Wa/Mo with this build.......
Galrath Slash, Power Strike, Bonnetti's Defense, Gladiator's Defense, Watchful Spirit, Balthatzar's Spirit, Healing Signet, and Sprint......in that order.
1. Start with Spirits
2. Run into group, attack for a min., use Bonnetti's, gain energy.
3. Galrath then Power, when Bonnetti's is about to go off.
4. Then hit Gladiator's.
Repeat steps 2 and 3, until Glad's is back up, then hit it again.
If your health gets low for any reason, hit Healing Signet, while Gladiator's is on.
Repeat and Farm solo forever. I am up to 97k now, not to mention the numerous killer Golds I have found, and the numerous Dune Borrower Jaws and Minotaur Horns I get from the solo Elona Reach mission run (just the first part). If you are ever on, and want to see some of the stuff I collect, or want to see me in action, my main farmer is Synthia Starstriker.

My personal favorite is the Elona Reach mission. With the right build, you can farm the minos and the dunies there with no problem at all. Nice drops and mino horns/dunie jaws to boot.

but there are so many items.. like, decayed orr sybols for example, doesnt matter if you salvage expert or normal.. you only get 3 bits of wood.
that example may not be exact.. but i have experiemented with loads of things.. and nearly everything salavages the same with a normal salvage kit.. expert kits I only use if i want to get something out of an item.. or.. as you say has 'highly salvagable' on it.
no.. expert salvaging everything is surly a complete waste of money?

Also, it was just a little 6-9 or W/E. Point is, when can, expert and anything you can.

Also, I think you are wrong in saying that an expert kit always gives more salvage than a normal kit, because in my experience, I can still get 6-10 iron or 8-14 tanned hide squares from my salvage no matter if I'm using normal or expert kits.
I also want to say I loathe the new superior salvage kits as well, because they cost 20g per use...they're even LESS economical than expert kits. I'd much rather use up 3 extra spots in my inventory to save an extra 400 gold.
The new superior identification kits are somewhat okay...they cost 5g per use instead of 4g per use with the normal ones. I suppose that might be worth the freed up inventory slot.

Nah, over the past few weeks, I've noticed much better drops and a huge increase in gold drops. I think the problem was typical farmers were feeling the nerf intended to stop automated bots -- but I think they've gotten better at determining who is a bot and who isn't. I believe it'll get even better later on.

Hey guys, just wanted to say, there's always great deals around. Like 2 min. ago i got 5 fur squares from someone for 20G ea. Another person sold me one for 160G. After i bought from them I came to found that i could sell them at rare material trader for 230 ea.! I made a 1120G prophet within about 3 min. I just wanted to tell everyone that

that would be exploiting newbs, actually

I must admit, I don't bother with WTS on anything now, total waste of time imho, so unless the gold item is either a) useful to me or b) really really uber where I'll try and sell it on a forum somewhere, they all get sold to the trader. I'm even beginning to think forums are a waste of time as I've tried to sell some stuff here and on another fourm and not had many responses to what I think are pretty good items.
So with my policy of sell everything, I don't wholley agree with the OP re salvage everything - I only salvage when I get the "highly salvagable" message or when I know I can get a good "chain reaction" going ie salvage bows, charr carvings etc for wood => craft into parchment for 50g each => sell to rare trader (the one who buys/sells individual items not in *10) for 80-100g each depending on the market. 250 wood = 50 parchment @ 2500g => sell @ 80g for example = 4000g, profit of 1500g for very little effort.
I used to do something similar with Linen, (plant fibre from a Divinity Coast chest run or 2), craft to Linen for 200g each. But since the trader updates, I've never been offered more than 200g by the trader = zero profit.
Just my 2p's worth anyway.
