MERGED: Factions Collector's Edition Comments and Questions

Ok I just want to check in here on this:

I pre-ordered from Best Buy already long ago, got the box, put it on my account. I spent $10, have my receipt to apply to the game cost on Friday.

Now I see a mention of T-Shirts in an ad but I've already bought the pre-order box, are these T-shirts just being given out when you get the actual game or pre-order? Just wondering if I have a shot at these shirts or not. I didn't see the ad suggesting $40/anything off if you pre-order.

Is there any chance the game will be sold before Friday?
Regarding $10 off - so it's $40 if we've pre-ordered/are buying it there and my new net cost is $30? [Otherwise well duh I know my $10 applies ]

My zip-code is 14226.
I also want to make sure I get it Friday, otherwise what is early access when you don't have live access

edit - well I just called and a game should be held for me, he didn't know if it'd be in on the Friday but suggested it should be, and that shirts would be for actual game purchase (not pre) on that day. He didn't know anything about an additional $10 off - he didn't discount the idea, but no info on it.

Well, the CE is apperently Delayed to all Nordic contries. Some recived an e-mail from the retailers(CDon) saying they wont have the CE in untill 3 May.

i think that means they dont know themselves what will happen.

my CE that has been listed as *SHIPPED* since last friday was just changed to ETA 4/28 (UNSHIPPED) at least i have a good book if it doesnt show

i know that one of the zips is 60565, but the one that i want to get my copy from becuase its where i got the pre-orde box from is 60490. I might just end up waiting cause i surely do want that CE...I have the first CE and want the 2nd one too.

Bah, 1 week is too long for my tastes, since I was looking forward to exploring and fighting in Cantha this weekend. Next weekend will be no good, for two reason here in America...Kentucky Derby, and playoff games.

I've yet to receive any messages through answering machine, nor E-mail regarding a delay, but when I had phoned EBgames central to ask if I could upgrade my shipping, they first said that I couldn't because it would mess up the orders even more, and that they expect a delay for Factions CE until May 4th... > So I have to wait one week, plus another one or two for shipping >... I'm so ticked I'm just going to type RED ENGINE GORED RED ENGINE GORED rather than RED ENGINE GORED RED ENGINE GORED!

Forgive me if this has been answered already, but is this delay occuring in all stores or just Gamestop/EB games?

Just rang up EB games in Brisbane - and they confirmed a 1-2 week delay for Factions: CE.

I just downgraded to Standard, I don't want to wait 1-2 weeks just to play Factions... ~.~

EB games called my mom's cell and said that there will be a 1 week delay.

Stupid worker at gamestop was trying to say the game is an expansion pack, and that you had to have the original to play it... I wish people would not say stuff unless they knew what they were talking about. He kept trying to make sure I knew what I was talking about and that I had the game.

i just got my email from gamestop saying may 4th.

I got until the 28th to cancel, what I will do is go to best buy if they have 2 CE's I will buy them (I ordered one from gamestop and one from best buy to hedge my bets) now off to best buy friday morning and fight for CE of GW

EB games in Sydney told me today that the CE is delayed by 1 week, after telling me just 3 days ago that there will be no delay.

Downgraded to standard edition.

The t-shirt is only available if you purchase the full game (doesn't matter what version).

I don't know what the t-shirt looks like.

There are not unlimited supplies of t-shirts, and using my store as an example, I strongly suspect that there won't even be enough t-shirts to cover all the copies of the game. Unless you work there (heh), it's "first come, first serve". My store is getting 64 copies of the regular version of Factions, but only 16 shirts.

IF YOU WANT A T-SHIRT, YOU BETTER BE THERE WHEN THE STORE OPENS!

Now, here's an idea of how to get the t-shirt while still waiting for the CE.

Buy the regular version but DO NOT OPEN IT! I know it will be tough. The Factions box staring at you (mmm, assassin)... your friends telling you how cool it is... the head start over....

BUT IT'S EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT OPEN THE BOX IN ANY WAY! DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO BE SNEAKY!

Best Buy's software return policy is black and white. If it's opened, it cannot be returned. If it's defective, it can only be exchanged. If it has a serial key of some kind, you only get a replacement CD/DVD.

Another two notes...

DO NOT TELL ANYONE WHAT YOU'RE DOING!

..and..

DO NOT TRY TO GET $10 OFF THE REGULAR VERSION (if you pre-ordered; this will only make things more difficult)!

When the CE comes out, you take the game back to Best Buy and return it. Since it's not opened, it can be fully returned. In the same transaction, you purchase the CE version.

All you need to do is go in with the receipt, grab the CE version, take the CE version and the regular version to customer service. Explain that you made a mistake and got the wrong version of the game, have them do a 'return/exchange' on the regular version and CE version, and then present them with the receipt for the pre-order and say that you'd also like to apply the $10 pre-order to the game.

Another note...

Don't expect there to be a TON of CE versions. You have 30 days to return the unopened regular version, but this is a decision you'll have to make very soon. Do you want to try for the CE or just get the regular?

INVENTORY UPDATE: I won't know anything until Thursday. Nothing has been shipped out of regional warehouses so I can't check store inventory levels or anything. When I get in Thursday afternoon, I'll check the inventory levels for people and then immediately post.

The regular version WILL be @ Best Buy AND for sale on Friday morning.

The CE version will not be. Don't bother asking anyone to check. It won't be there. I don't know yet when it WILL be available, but trust me.. I want the CE version.. I've been checking daily

What I want to know is why hasn't guildwars.com been updated - come

i got the same message and im also pissed off. but i also understand this is out of anets hands as the message said it was NCsoft's problem.

we still get hte head start and get to play on friday but not on saturday

Same thing, and I'm ticked off about it to be honest. I should have listened to my in stincts and just bought the CE elsewhere. I paid for overnight shipping and the ONLY reason I did is so that I could have it on-release or a day or two after.

I might just cancel and go to my nearest Best Buy which is an hour away to get it, it may only be a week but what if they push it back again? I'm not willing to wait around and twiddle my thumbs to see about it.

This is more than disappointing to me, it isn't NCSoft or ANets fault, but I can say this, I'm not ordering anything online from either EB or Gamestop ever again after this.

well i most likey will still go becuase i wouldn't mind thei shirt, but i might just do what you said to do, i might just get the nomral verson instead, i have yet to decide. I think its BS about CE, but i know its out of their hands. It must be something that is include with it or becuase they sold out of it, their trying to make more, i have no idea. Time will tell.

I gave up... I can't handle waiting two weeks (plus my crappy shipping which they will not let me change) for a few material items. I'm sure Chapter 3 stuff can offer me better items for a collector's edition. Logically, I'd rather play this game for the extra two weeks without bonuses and just buy the Factions Soundtrack from direct song and save myself $10.

After getting this exact same e-mail, I just decided it isn't worth all the hassle, but I AM IN NO WAY ENCOURAGING YOU TO STOP YOUR ORDER! If you know you can hang on, please do, because unlike myself, some of us can actually wait.

Thats what we get for giveing them more support, F That shit. I'm pissed, we have to wait 1 extra week for giving them more money. WTF? They had plenty of time to pack their product. Its not like it had to go throught testing, since all updates are done through online streaming.

Thats what I got, very disapointed. We shoud be reimbersed with something. I mean we pay more money, and we get left behind. Not fair at all.

While I don't have a CE on order, I must say it has been stated several times over and in chatlogs that this is not something that is affecting ALL US RETAILERS.

I'm getting different stories all over the place.

I stopped in one and they said that the CE will be out on Friday and I did pre-order it from them today, no keys, just want to make sure I get it.

I then went to another Gamestop and he said that it was delayed, but they are still taking preorders on it. I didn't exactly pre-order it, but they are going to hold acopy for me.

I was basically told that it was NCSofts issue that the CE was delayed, and it was "an error in manufacturing".

They should release the keys to the store to sell and then ship the box or have us pick them up later.

I just got the great news from EB that all the collectors editions of factions have been delayed!!! What the @#@#! Why? We pay more for the game we should be getting it ahead of time of the regular edition plus all the perks...lol So the collectors edition people get screwed again!

This affects all North American retailers.

We support them by buying this BS and all we get is a sorry? Its laughable!

Cmon Anet you better make this right to your loyal customers or lose alot of them, ive been waiting for factions for a longtime just to get an email right before launch telling me this BS!?.

That's not a bad idea, actually. They definitely should give all CE buyers keys and gurantee us boxes later.

I don't really know whose fault this is, but I'm pretty sure I'll cancel my order. I really did want the Collector's Edition, but if I can't play for a couple weeks, well, I just won't bother. I don't imagine I'll be able to find it somewhere else, since it sounds like it's going to be unavailable just about everywhere.

While I'm not necessarily blaming ANet or NCSoft, they could fix this by extending pre-order keys, possibly only if they somehow try to confirm people who were on the purchase list. I don't need the Collector's Edition perks right away, but I do want to play right away. I'm not willing to buy two copies, one CE, just for that.

(edit: ANet *or* NCSoft, since who knows who makes those decisions.)

Yea, at least get us CE pre order people some Extended keys sent out. I can wait for the other stuff in the package but @#$#$ the least you could do is hook us up with some extended keys so we can play like the regular GWF people that ordered regular editions. We pay more to be delayed? That is just not good business practice....lets get some answers here Anet/NCsoft.

The amazing this is my friend from GameStop knew about this about 90 days ago. He said that CE was going to be delayed. So, NCSoft knew this the whole time and didn't bother to tell anyone. Isn't that nice of them?

Well, you can't fully trust brick-and-mortar stores either, even if it is BB or Gamestop/EB Games. Sometimes, they put copies of the game on the shelves later than the release date. If you go that route, then you put your trust in that they will get the shipments on schedule or about 1-2 days behind.

Me, I just went "screw it all" and just opted for the exchange.

ANet or NCSoft will not loose anything, if they extend the early day access to 10 days, in fact, they might gain a few new players.

Patience is what we all lack. It's only a week without Guild Wars...and why are we blaming Anet? If it wasn't for them we wouldn't even have Guild Wars to play.
