I did notice that when doing the edge workd in some areas, there is no noticeable "unfogging" with the Mark 1 Eyeball. But the edges need to be done by almost running at a 45 degree angle to the "walls".
But I will post up my map for you and anyone else that might want to use them.
Of course, my services to analyze maps with Photoshop shall continue.

hay Dougal Kronik can you make a sticky on this? or how your comparing? it have 10+ tabs opened in FF from this thread and i'm so lost on how to use photoshop to compare them?
i mean i would post my 90% map but it i think it be easyer if i knew how to do it myself and then to do it w/ the Canthas map
also to add to that can anyone make a sticky on "hot/common places" to check?
if not i guess i will.

I know the top circle requires going up far north on rurik's path.
And if you can't get the ice golems to do the deed, or find the wolf, you can go to the dryder caves and kill some ettins/dryders under the bridge. Traversal brings you on top of the bridge and onto rurik's path.

Hi
Please can you have a look at my map. I am currently at 98%., .................now 98.9% after below edit points.
I believe there is a bit of Hells still to map.
I have tried to use photoshop but don't really know which bits are unmapped and which arnt. A second opinion would be brilliant.
Thanks in advance.
Ara.
EDIT : Found .2% west of piken...can't believe i missed that bit., Small bit sth of Sardelac, and a little bit just west of Yak's bend. Also the lake area in the Wilds needs sorting. :/, found 2 bits just inside riverside entrance.

Hi there... 96% here... and I know that I need to get back to the Fire Islands (btw can someone tell me if that's Abaddon or Hell's Precipice) and finish the ice imp cave, and the Sw corner of dunes (which I'm having trouble getting to). However, that's not going to get me another four percent. I've been eyeballing map to map, but my eyesight is failing me at this point
. when I screenshot my map, the file size is 22.5 which is too large to upload... I'm a moron when it comes to this stuff... how do I resize it so that you guys whoare doing such an awesome job of analyzing maps can take a peek?
bobert_monduvia
i hope i do this right with my upload...
I came across this forum last noght, band saw that people, mostly dougal, are analyzing peoples maps! I thought that was great and figured I had to get mine done. I know i need alot (a little less than 20%) but having this analyzed would be a big help, because i could know exactly where to go. You do not need to label areas, although Kryta always gives a hard time, so if you could label that it would be great.
Thanks a ton in advace

Make sure your game resolution (from the options menu) is set to:
1024 x 768 or
1280 x 1024
Go to your world map - or press 'M'
Ensure you are in full screen mode (not window mode) by clicking on the box in the middle of the 3 icons at the upper right edge of your screen
Zoom out - entire world of tyria
Press Shift + Print screen - to remove any of the icons/pins from the map
Exit map mode - press 'M' again
Read the message that tells you what Guild Wars has saved the screen shot as.
Minimize Guild Wars - by clicking on the line at the left of the 3 icons at the upper right edge of your screen
Go to your Guild Wars/screens directory and find the screenshot
Open it to make sure it is the correct one
Verify the dimensions of the screenshot by using the properties - right click on the file or just hold your mouse over the file icon
Open it up in Paint
Resave it as a jpg format - reduces the size of the file
Upload it in a post in this thread
Then I'll download it and analyze it along with the incredible advice of others in the community
Then I upload your individual analyzed map - in a special post just for you!

Sorry if this has already been covered. I need to get the dunes area completed. Does anyone know if the necrotic traversal or one of the other forms of teleporting still works for this? I still need some of that area behind the gates. Heck, after that I have to head over to THK and explore the back section there too. At least the rest is in a simple area like the jungle, lol.

Dougal, would you please work your magic one last time for me?I'm at 99.4% atm.I cannot get the spot beneath the U in Borlis or the north edge of THK town. They will not unshadow no matter what I do.Other than that, there is a spot in anvil rock and dunes I have yet to find/see.I reran them both complete and never saw a lift or % point. There might be 1-2 other spots that I didnt see clear as well.I'm kind of out of spots tho :/ Doesn't approximately 4 "half-shadows" make a ".1%"?If so I need a lot of spots
This is crazy without an arena or two.
Seef II
Your borlis area is probably unfoggable by hugging the southern edge of Iron Horse Mines. Try hugging the very western edge in Dunes a bit more carefully, unless that's cloud cover I am seeing.

Earlier in this thread someone links to Irfanview or using slideshow either way as long as they are the same rez you will see the differences. Some spots on the 100% map I couldnt quite get but Dougals hot spots helped a lot especially in the jungle area where the differences arent as easily noticed as say the desert or shiverpeaks when I was looking.
Also using the full sized zoomed in maps helps to see ifyour right on in a zone or not.

If any one has Photoshop and wants the procedure:
Open the 100% map and hold it for future use.
Close the current file.
Open the personal map and it is set to layer 0.
Open the held map and set to layer 1 - use the difference filter.
You have a difference map.
Export it as a *.jpg.
Open it in Windows Picture and Fax viewer.
Go forward and back between your difference map and you partially explored map.
I open it in Paint and label it for the users to more easily find their missing data.

I got my 100% this weekend
I used the instructions for photoshop to get the last areas.. some points to note from my experiences, I didnt have any of the arena's, so I think that made it it a little more harder for me, but i did get the 100%. Sometimes its worth re-wall-hugging areas you may have passed over quickly, i found several areas in ascalon and northern shiverpeaks i thought I had covered, but had missed (and in fact my last 0.1% came from the frost gate mission). The Dunes of despair bottom-left-corner-bridge glitch is exactly that, the bridge looks like its up, but in fact, if you run at it head on, you run on air for a few seconds!!
I was thinking of posting a completed map for those of us out there that dont do that much pvp, or came to prohecies to late to get the original arena's, as it may help a couple of guys out, and it may also help those of you hard core cartographers that do have all the arenas already, but want the extra 1%
, if so let me know, and ill try knock something up.

jjdefan, here is the analysis of your difference map:

The trick is, if you can do the difference maps yourself, do them while you are still in the explorable area or mission. Check them before and after to see if any of the fog has been cleared. Once you are happy that the entire area has been explored 'port out and do the next one.
Took me 4 hours to do Lornar's Pass with Henchies.
Sometimes - some maps will show more clearly what you are missing and some will have fake areas (clouds). Makes it really challenging!!!!
The Jungle shows up as a red/blue is there is a difference. Desert as a brown. Shiverpeaks as white. Ascalon as red/brown. Ring of Fire islands as red/blue/white. Kryta as red/white.
Good luck.

Also excluded are areas with a seperate map, like PvP content that is located on the Battle Isles or Pre-Searing. However, PvP arenas that are located in Tyria, like the Ascalon Arena and the Shiverpeak Arena (or Shing Jea Arena for in Cantha) do count. Old Tyrian arenas, that are no longer reachable count too. However, there is a little leeway granted for reaching these titles. Players do not have to actually uncover every last corner of the map to reach 100%.

Don't use the "Difference Clouds" on the top tool bar. Instead, on the "Layers" toolbar on the side is a pull-down menu that says "Normal", select "Difference" down toward the bottom. Now you have the correct map
