I respectfully have to disagree
You start by attacking the ritualist, but at the same time, you can kill the knights. The nice thing is, the knights use Triple Chop. You can spike one knight for (at 16 tactics and if you use deadly riposte as well) 37+37+84+79+bleeding when he hits you with Triple Chop. That is a STAGGERING amount of damage for having never targeted the knight. You build adren for your sword skills and and pound the ritualist while killing the knights at the same time. In fact, you will actually kill the ritualist after the knights this is so effective. If you have melee fighters in any group, nothing is faster than glads and riposte(s).
But this just displays the beauty that is Guild Wars. Many ways to accomplish the same thing.

Stee Janz
Ghial is you target. TS helps you against Ghial when he slows you down. Riposte and D Riposte, will do nothing for you when facing Ghial. That is the reason that I wouldn't use them in this situation. Farming Melee bosses, I wouldn't go with anything but Riposte and D Riposte. But for Ghial it is best to if you use other skills. Helps against Ghial and then you can go after the Monk boss that is close to him. Get a green Drop from him too.
luauelveneno
very nice build only no staff for me yet
i only changed final trust for silverwing slash because that wont kill your adrenaline.

Got my staff after 10 attempts
Its a pain in the ass if Ghial gets a golem though, is there any way to beat him if he does get a flesh golem?

jaibas17
move back a few steps, enough that the golem will follow and ghial will attack, but on your radar ghial is SLIGHTLY awayfrom aggro circle.
doing this, when you kill the flesh golem, ghial wont be in range to spawn another one

W/N seems to work even better than the w/me build.
Even with the ritualist healing you can take him and the others down.
Don't bother going after the ritualist though.
Attachment 24389 There is much humor in that second screen shot...here I thought you had yet another Grenth's Balance build and it turns out you use consume corpse...
Question: Do you even have enough attributes in death magic to make real use of a 10e necro skill? If you only use it to remove corpses why not Putrid Explosion (5e)? With an energy intensive build like this one I must be missing something on the Consume Corpse, unless of course you are really getting alot of energy by spending alot of attributes on death.

putrid is also 10 energy and has a 5 second recharge, and consume has even at 0 death (or 1 or 2) some small return (25 health AND 5 energy at 0 death).

hi, i wanna ask that which armor work best with this build ?
sajun
great guide btw, been using it for quite awhile now (it's funded 3 sets of 15k armor plus a lot of jade purchasing), i modified the build just a little for when i do it cuz i dont have healing hands
vigorous spirit
dragon slash (e)
galrath slash
silverwing slash
tiger stance
sprint
dolyak signet
mending
and i just make sure the corpses disappear b4 i pull him so he doesnt animate a golem, and if he does, you can either (a) pull the golem away from him past the 2nd bridge, or (b) i sometimes just power through him healing himself through the golem cuz im lazy
and the armor i use is gladiator's, with knight boots.. use either sskai sword or victo's blade, with merki's gaze as my shield

Cool. I am glad you like it and nice adjustment. I use it alot in factions. You should try your build with Darkwish to see how you do.
Jayden_Angelus
Only real adjustment I did with this build, was took out Galrath slash and included Gash. You're target will already be bleeding from sever artery, and this way you hit them with a deep wound, followed by final thrust when the Rit is down half health, he'll drop even more.
I also found that going out of the market place into the budek byway to the skyway transition was easier then running from senji's corner. Just be careful of the Am Fah rangers before you get to the transition as they poison the hell out of you and watch out for spike trap. If they cripple you you're toast because you won't have enough healing (even with healing hands) to counter act the poison and their attacks.
I'm also running an attribute spread of 10 healing, 12 str, 12 sword. I thought about going with superior strength but 590 health just seemed to be more important. I've gotten Ghial to drop the staff twice, and hoping to get a few more. I also went with a Furious Falcion of Fortitude for 10% double adrenaline and +30 health. Also have Exhalted Aegis and decked out in full Knights gear with Sup Absorption and Sup Vigor.
As to what to do when you get more then one Rit coming at you at a time as well as with the Flesh Golem, run back a bit and pull one of them, just keep inching your way back and you'll have seperated them enough so that you only take on one, and he won't be getting healed from the other one. So I recommend bringing a long bow for that.
I really like this build, and I got the staff on my first attempt which was even cooler. LOL I also got Ghial to drop a gold as well as his green that time too.

Nice job everybody. Enjoy the farm and enjoy the cash.

i got my staff a few days back... the 2nd time i killed him.... took me a while to get a hang of it, but once i did, he went down wasy every time.

i use 12 strength, 9 axe, 14 tactics, 6 death
It gives u back 11 energy and some health and its not energy intesive at all with vim and zealous hilt. You dont need watch yourself much and can put in attack skill if u want.

Sprint (For the run) Tested this build on Royen, but wont work. You cant do enough damage, and Royen uses Troll Unguent the whole time.
2nd time i changed Tiger Stance with Distraction Blow. Didnt work either. Troll Unguent has 10 sec recharge time, Distraction 20 sec.
So i dont know how you did it then. I might try to switch to axe and use Dusrupting Blow.
Anyways, thanks for the build. Its pretty easy to get Ghial down.

I have solo'ed Royen many times with this build and as a matter of fact I escorted someone else that was having a little trouble with him to show him how it was done. The only difference is that you take out all the foes in the area first, then his pet, then Royen. His pet helps heal him. You shouldn't have any trouble taking him down. When ever a ranger uses Troll Unguent you counter with Tiger Stance.

You can kill ghial even if he has 3 rits around him. After killing whatever you can without pulling his group (usually the two knights and a rit), you pull ghial and his group onto the bridge, then sprint away and break aggro. When they stop aggro, ghial should still be closest to you. Pull out your longbow and plink him, then sprint away. After a bit, you'll get him far away enough from the group where you can kill him.
Captain Robo
You can also get to ghial much more quickly if you go through Bukdek Byway from Wajuun Bazaar

If you can make that run, more power to you. I just don't see how it's possible. With the crippling, poison, and whatever elite the necros use, good luck. At least -8 degen if not more.
Captain Robo
As long as you can avoid the spike traps, you'll be fine. Just put healing hands on before you go in, and then sprint through. Normally you'll survive. It helps if you take your sup rune off too.
Also, if you really want to be cautious, you can aggro the group, and pull them over the bridge so they fight the Canthan Guard, then you just sprint past them scott-free.

Well, at the very least, you can rezone through there and fight ghial again, with morale boost

Need to kill the group of 3 knights first, then try and make lians group chase you all the way back to the portal for market place, as when you get close enough to it they will stop chasing and leave you alone, which leaves a nice bit of safety if you are getting in trouble.
Try to get the knight in the group to come to the bottom of the steps, then run upto the side wall of the steps by one of the pillars so you are shielded from the casters so they cant hit you.
If you have been lucky you can sometimes make the ritualist not follow the group but if he did run up steps and kill him first, then the other 2 casters, then finally lian.
I find on quite a lot of the runs sometimes after killing the knight the rest of the group dont bother attacking so you can just kill them at leisure.
Where to get the knight

she seems to drop just as bad as ghial though, havent had it once yet I farmed that item alot, got it about 3 times in 2 days, made about 90k off it, then it had a big price drop so i stopped farming it
And yes your right, that same build could easily farm that. Mine was similar to this one, only I didnt use Tigers Stance or Sprint.

This is pissing me off to no end. I've done about thirty farming runs over the past four days, and he's dropped one staff.
Not only that, but every time I go to fight him, HE'S HOLDING HIS WEAPON. The silver-dyed bone staff that I want so very much. When he dies, he's still gripping it, taunting me, laughing at me.
I'm wondering why the hell I can't just take it when he's sitting there dead, holding it. But the game is being stupid. I rotate farming between Stonereaper, Baubao's Shell, and Ghial, but so far, nothing has dropped for the past four days.
wtf is going on.

Ghull Ka
I've been doing this by starting at Tanakai Temple. You just have to run through one group of Am Fah, which isn't that bad. Put on healing hands, walk thru 'em, sprint to break aggro, and you're golden. No enemies all the way to the Skyway Zone.
There's a Statue of Balthazar just inside Skyway, too, :-)
From there, three groups of Jade Brotherhood between you and the Tengu. One group between the Tengu and Ghial's Bridge. I think it's an easier approach than going from Senji's. At the very least, it's a less stressful approach. The terrain is much easier to negotiate and the groups are much easier to run through.

The fastest way to get there is to run from senji's.
Forget what I said before about running from marketplace, its not faster.
If you know what you're doing, you'll never die on your way there, unless you get bodyblocked (and even then, you might be able to fight out of it).
Just takes practice.

Just takes practice. You are correct. Senji's is as straight a shot as you can get. If you die in this run with a warrior then... you might want to start another character.

that is why the staff is still selling for 50 - 60K. As we all know it is not hard to get to him and then even to kill him is not that hard either, so the only way that the staff is maintaining the price is because it is glued to his hand lol.
Also Captain try throwing a mission into your rotation movements, that usually resets the farming nerf they have active. I used to rotate too and nothing happened, then a guildy asked me to help him with a mission and I did, then whent back to Ghail, two runs later I had the staff.
He doesn't drop very good as Stee said right in the beginning. The running part, well I have never had any problems getting to Ghial, the first group I encounter is easy too.
What I do there is run over the bridge, wait for the Rit boss to start running towards me, then I run back to the beginning of the bridge where there are always two guards there. They attack the Rit boss and his buddies attack them so you run through them without taking 1 single hit
The rest is easy straight running, like Stee said if you can't make this run maybe you should be playing another character lol
I will go there again to see if I can get him to drop it for me again haven't been there in ages
Happy hunting guys

This is patetic...killed 38 times ghial= 0 drops....0 ghial staffs 4 me by 38 kills.
Ultimate Sacrifice
Hm, about a month or so I tried farming Ghial about 11 times, no drops. So I quit for awhile tested out one of my other Ghial's Staffs on my MM for a bit, went back, got it. Did another run, nothing. Did some random arenas went back to farming him got it.
Captain Robo
I do believe the recent Armor Nerf has made Ghial unfarmable.
I died twice while trying to run to him, and when I finally got there on the third try, I was killed by Jade Brotherhood Mages, of all things.
I killed the knights no problem, and the group was four Mages and a Rit, which normally would have been a piece of cake, but since I no longer get -4 reduction on ALL DAMAGE, their wand damage, combined with Conjure Flame added up. Its quite ridiculous now. But I can't be too upset at the nerf... after all, I'm primarily an Ele, and that's good news for PVP.

Quite frankly, I also don't ever remember Jade Brotherhood Mesmers being that keen on the interrupt either. The reason I die on the runs is because they manage to interrupt Healing Hands. This has happened in the past, but it wasn't that common (I really don't know how they do it. This is one case of AI being TOO good).
But now its happening like every time.
But now its happening like every time.
Stee Janz
Interesting. I will have to solo it tonight to see whats going on. I will see if its different for me and if it is I will make the necessary adjustments.
The Last Cruzader
I dunno I got 2 staves in 2 days from about 10-15 runs in all must be luck.
