Server Speed Feedback Needed

I think that would be the first sign of the apocolypse. lol
Hockster
It seems that once the total users goes over 3000, response time really sinks. As I post this there's just a touch over 3000 users and new pages are hit or miss.
Inde
No, that's just us Hockster. We were running some IP searches and merging some threads. Should be all cleared up now.

VERY slow at the moment. (11/10, 1pm Eastern)
Malice Black
Very slow but Im making an educated guess this is due to the new forum skin..
Inde
We've had a problem with our apache server. I apologize for any inconvenience, we are expecting this to be resolved by this evening.
Thom Bangalter
I like the new skin, but connection seems to be puttering for me compared to some other sites. I don't know what that means technically, just feels a little slower than other places.
awesome sauce
ya real slow for me too
Feminist Terrorist
The site looks absolutely fantastic. Congrats and kudos on the new look.
kzap
ok we fixed the problem, it was the new design and its preloading of images for the tabs at the top, all fixed now.

Feminist Terrorist
I'm getting slow response times, but when the site finally does start loading, it's very fast. 1:05 pm pacific.

Ok, I'm not sure this is the right place to post this, but whatever...
This site is still horrendously slow after last week's skin update. I decided to test how long it took me to get from the main forum page to this one. It took me 17:31, and that's minutes; not seconds. I can't even see any of the buttons on any of the pages. All of them come up as red X's. I'm getting the same results with www.guildwarsguru.com as well. My connection appears to be fine, since every other page I've tried to load loads instantly. (I can even get on GuildWiki, although it takes about 10-15 seconds to load a page.)
Before the updated skins, there was some slowness due to the high volume of people browsing, but it was never this bad. The forum was still useable. Currently, (at least for me) it is not.
I hope the admins check to see if there's a problem on their end, because I really liked this place as a refence for Guild Wars. Now, I am forced to go to other places to find what I need, since I have no desire to wait 5 minutes for a page to load.
My Location: Florida
Time Zone: EST
Time: All the time since the update.
I don't know if it matters, but I'm using Internet Explorer. (And don't suggest getting Firefox, please. I tried it, and I absolutely hate it.)

Interesting, about an hour ago huh? I'll check it out. Let me know if the problem persists. Could have been some locked queries that just cleared itself out.
Enchanted Warrior
You might want to turn off Who's online, I see a huge list when I visit and WOL is notoriously hard on servers.
Malice Black
Using the edit button results in a time out half of the time.
Malice Black
Edit button is screwing up again (I'd edit my post above but the button will not respond)
Sometimes will trying to edit my thread in PC forum I get a message saying "Invalid link please contact Admin"

Yeah, I'm noticing a slow down the last 2 days as well AncientLord. We are looking into it. Thanks for the heads up.
Admin's Bane I am looking into the edit button. I know that sometimes it will give me difficulty with saving (if that happens click on Go Advanced and then hit save). But the invalid link is something I'm still looking at.

I'm on 8MB MaxDsl and over the past 2-3 day's I've noticed that it's getting very slow to respond at sometimes. At times it's taking well over 30secs for a page to load.
Plus, at times I'm still getting the php box pop up in Firefox.

Slow today, but once the server wakes up and realizes someone wants a new page, it loads pretty quickly.
Mentalist Ellie
The forums have been almost unusable recently. Page load times are measured in minutes, not seconds.
Clcikc a link, go for a snack, come back, refresh the timed out page, finish the snack, read the thread, click, snack, refresh............
My butt is starting to look like Rosie O'Donnels already. Not a good thing. At all.

Noted you guys. Thanks. Keep the reports coming.

Site was very slow and unresponsive yesterday...could have been the fact there was around 4000 people viewing posting.
Franco Power
Well ofcourse, there was probably hundreds of people searching for information about the Error 13 or whatever happened in Euro servers last night
.

Auctions are very slow as of this moment. Specifically the "bows" section which is the one I am trying to browse. First few times pages loaded in a couple of minutes...now it's just a blank white page telling me the loading is done. Have refreshed many times but gave up after 30 minutes.
Malice Black
Been timing out a lot lately...having to press refresh 2-3 times just to get a post to work is annoying.

The site is as fast as a "normal" forum around the "less busy" hours (which are times when i am supposed to sleep
) but on other times i get pageloads which are between 10 or 50 seconds. Sometimes you just get an "page cannot be displayed" page, which dissapears mostly when you press F5 a few times.
My temporary solution to the problem: Tabbed browsing
You'll only have to wait for the first page to load, and if you click on a link (and have to wait) you just switch to the next tab and cycle trough it untill you have seen enough forum
Great site

The forum page responds pretty fast the auction page times out often.
onerabbit
Mmm, seems slower than usual, and i always get this eeor page, could not find server..or something, and some times its take a good 30seconds to load up a page, some times is uber fast..but more slow than fast
Hockster
Response time this morning is pretty poor. 20-30 seconds for page loads, odd as there's a relatively low user load, ~2200 at post time.
fleetia
It's always been very slow for me, especially on the auction page. Page cannot be displayed often occurs more than 50% of the time, and there's always an error it seems on every page when it tries to load.
Inde
Noted, thanks you guys.

Slooooow today. The server takes a good 15-20 seconds to respond, but once it does, the page loads very quickly.
Addone_Abaddon
the server was down for ages a few minutes ago..
Morgenstern
Seems pretty good today, slow, but not slow enough to really care
Note - Auctions is normally pretty bad, kind stops me from using them

Server is only fast for me at odd times of the day - aka right now (3am)

Small update, we've been having server downtime every morning and just tracked down the reason why. This is when backups are running at 7am PST and it's been overloading the server so we'll be getting this switched to something more like 3am.

I sure hope that helps, but I doubt it will. I'm experiencing forum-wide sluggishness every day, all day. Today I got a few time-outs also. I usually access the forums from about 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, and again at various times throughout the afternoon and evening, depending on what I'm doing. These are all pacific times. I know it's not my connection, because every other site I visit loads quickly. It's getting very frustrating, and I often run out of news to read while waiting for threads to load. I think I'm gonna have to start in on my books just to have something to do while waiting.
