Server Speed Feedback Needed

Is it my computer or is i the site that is slow takes like 1 -2 min to load a page
Feathermoore Rep
Forums did pretty good today. After about 10-11pm EST, the load times decrease significantly. But from 5-8pm EST, its probably the worst. Opening forums and topics is ok with an occasional timeout, and posting/editing is 50/50: either it loads or it just timeout's. But on most timeout's it will send the post, but it will not refresh the topic with the new/altered post.

I have to say 30% of the time the site doesn't work, and it's still very slow. This may be my computer but I have tried it on other computers too and it's just as slow.

day by day it moves slower and slower. the server is absolute crap. no offense...

I havent seen any significant improvement ever since improvements to server speed were announced. I waited all this time to comment to give it time to resolve itself but yeah, no improvements in speed.
Obviously something is still wrong.

I'm not enjoying this website because of the slow loading times.
This is actually the slowest forum i visit alot and it does get on my nerves sometimes.

Only works good enough in the european morning hours, when both euros and americans are asleep.

Seems to be working with about 5-20 seconds to load a page on the forum. Only had that technical error page at about 2PM GMT. Lasted about 15min.
Using Mozilla Firefox if that is of any relevance.

Not many problems lately. Few time outs etc but nothing out of the ordinary.

too many timout, slow, impossibility to surf decently.
i suggest to make money using ad banner, click banner or a simple paypal offers from users.

I have the same problem with slow loads. It doesn't matter if I am in forums or auctions or what time of day I get it every day. TIme outs happen constantly too. Very rarely will a page load in less than 30 seconds. A few times last week I couldn't access the site at all for hours at a time. I have DSL and could still access any other website I wanted. I love the site and all its resources but it is very slow and breaks down at times.

A donation system is in effect, and you can donate here:

Unfortunately people tend to have bigger mouths than wallets.

The site always takes long to load for me-the situation i have with the site is this.
The pages do not take very long to load the page-but it takes a while to load if say i click "back" Ex: I'm in a certain forum, i'm done click "Guild Wars Forums - GW Guru" at the top left.
Even though i click-it takes a while to go back. It does load fairly well-the majority of the time at least. Hopefully this made sense?

I've mentioned something about the speed of the site in IRC, and upset a couple people, but I maintain that I'm genuinely interested in why the site is so slow. I don't know what could be causing the slowdowns, but I'd be willing to help with time or effort, to make it work better. Sadly, I can't donate money. I have none to offer. If any of you mods or admins see this, and would like an extra set of hands (or mouse clicks) to help things along, let me know.

THis websites suffers from loads of loading problems. In the morning I can click where ever I want and it loads instandly and at the midday or night it just goes boom. I mean, I click a link, wait a hack loads of a 1/2 minutes and then: "Page can not be loaded", "problems loading page", "____totally blank ____" or whatever. So frustrating, you wait ages and then you are have to click it again until it will hopefully loads the page. First I thought it was my internet, but well it seams to happen everywhere where I internet.
What I think this website needs it: A faster MySQL server or a faster webserver, I mean, come on I know a website which has around 1600 people at the same time almost every hour and around millions a day and that even loads ways faster then GWGuru, this just remind be back to the 56k modem ages or the IE browsing problem, like clicking, go get coffee and when you come back and you're lucky you don't have to go back to get another coffee. XD
Anyways, I hope this will improve, but all by all, go looking around for more hosting services or something, or better once which offer something and you make a deal with them. I know hosting services which give you loads of Gigs of bandwidth for just nothing. For instance 2.1 Terrabytes for just 6 dollars if I was right, anyways look at these websites:
I'm serious, look they offer Terabytes and for almost nothing, make a deal to get more TB for a little more and you got a perfect hosting service. I heard good things about those hosting services from friends who host a few company websites and another stuff. But well it's just a suggestion.

Lately my loading has been fine. I only experience timeouts once every few hours, but a refresh fixes it.

It seems to be getting worse and worse everyday now...

For me it's been getting better and better...

Database error today around 12pm GMT gave up refreshing after 10mins. Working fine right now.

Edit post isn't working.

9 times out of 10 Guru is pretty slow and this is using different computers and different connections(ie. home, school, etc). It does seem a little bit faster than it use to be, but it's still very slow in comparsion to just about every site out there lol (gw or non gw related).
Tyrnne
Site is slow for me from time to time. Doesn't matter how fast the connection. T3 at work or DSL at home. Posting a reply or bidding on an item in auction seems to be the worst. Most times when I bid, I have to wait and check later to see if it went through as the browser almost always times out.
Bids seem to go through even when site won't load, but posts are often lost. Hope this one works.

Noted, thanks everyone.

The site will either go very, VERY slow (to the point where internet explorer loses communication with the server), or it will be instantanious.
I'd say my average page-load speed is 30-45 seconds.

Site as slow as a slow thing going very slowly.
Pages not displaying, posts not being made, etc etc.

Slowness right now is because of the euro servers being down. Just a note. But the others are concerns. Keep posting!

Site dies at 12pm GMT I'm guessing this is the planned down time??
Edit post still rarely works correctly, making modding difficult.

I've been on similar forums, operating with a slightly smaller user base. They saw a significant rise in performance after stripping away the 'currently active users' list from the front page.
Not telling you that you should, but... who reads that anyway? Might want to give it a try.

fastest page load is 10 secs, often slower, once in a while a time out. This is pretty constant over the past weeks.

Can we get "edit post" fixed?? pretty please??
The average time for me to close a post, write a user note, C&P profile link to moderation page is 5 mins..this sucks considering I might have to close/report anywhere between 10-30 posts on a busy night.

it's about 11:30 est for me right now and, it feels like i'm on old ass 28.8k dialup right now. Though I'm on 1.5MB DSL. And really time of day makes no difference to me because I notice it's ALWAYS slow like this. Usually to the point where I just get pissed off and close the page.

Its definatly running slow, but not as slow as some say for me, average load time is maybe 10-15 seconds.

Lots of time outs, page not available, database errors.
Average time to post any reply/thread is 2-3 min after hitting Submit.
Also noticed that threads are not indexing, as search does not find any references to those threads. I can provide example of thread upon request from admin.

I'm sorry to say my current experiences aren't very good. Database errors seem to occur more often than not these days - up to over an hour every lunchtime, (which is just when I would want to be using Guru!) not to mention trying to post anything at any other time is a game of chance. I mean, it's actually caused me to habitually copy everything before I hit the post button... When it works, though, pageloads are a matter of 2, 3 seconds at most?
Anyway I'm UK (South East) on a 2Mb Business Line with a 10:1 Contention Ratio. Dunno if that helps, but if it does, then all the better
