Server Speed Feedback Needed

I believe this is why the site is slow during the day hours.....


Now I have anything against the unregistered users but I do believe if you made it registered only, you'd probably get more users to sign up and at the same time lower your bandwidth usage.
That's just my suggestion.

Just a few more days until the new server is going to be here. We are working on making this move before the Jan. 20th update. I will be sure to make a news announcement when the time comes.

The server is ok for me, i either go on at 9am, 5pm or 10pm GMT, it is ok at all times but at 10pm for me it can take it's time, but is working great at the min (10pm here)

As I've seen a couple of threads where posters have suggested that GWG should require people to register before they can access the boards, I'll share my experience.

Before I registered here, I spent a few days perusing the site to make sure that this was the kind of community that I wanted to join. If GWG had been set up to require registration before I could even see what the site was about, I wouldn't have joined.

I think that keeping the website accessible to everybody is vital to community growth and development. Sure, visitors will take up some bandwidth, but today's lurker might be tomorrow's contributor!

I would bet that a good number of people who aren't registered just go to the price check and merchant forums. Maybe just making those registration only?

I know that's what I did for a number of weeks before I actually signed up.

Inde was stating in another thread here in this section that slowness is not due to bandwidth. Any slowness you expierence recently has been due to many users requesting the same database, ect, ect. Basically server overload. They have a new server coming that should ease the load on the current one and make everything a bit better. If im incorrect, please correct me .

I'm looking forward to it as i am in the same siuation as Cherno most of the time, posting can take 3-4 attempts and just general slowness.

Brutally slow, unusable at the moment. Cant get more than 2 pages into the auction listing 'fore it all goes to crap and locks up. A the current moment, there are 1180 people online, 750 guests, 430 users. Love the site, and the auction, but as it is now I'll check the site once or twice a day for the last week and it has been unusable. Really late at nite 4:30-5:00 am PST it is useable but thats at 5:00 in the morning, and I still get random lock ups every 4th or 5th page. Dont get me wrong Im not ragging, just feedback for you. Hope things get sorted soon, best of luck with it(no sarcasm intended). Sents
ps. I dont really like GWO(Mods play favorites tooo much) so please( ) resolve these issues if possible so I can have somewhere to keep up with the latest and greates. Mainly I love the auction and just like perusing the categories as Im sure many others do as well.

PSS If this post doubles it is cause it locks up 4 or 5 times(so far) allready trying to post, apologies.(took about 15 minutes to get post to work proper, with 2 doubles I deleted)

It's just that they haven't implemented/installed(can't find the word) it yet. I think Guru will be down for a while when they actually put the new server in.

Yes really. Yes Seriously. Just when I thought this site couldn't get any slower! It's taken me just over eight minutes to get to this page.

The main site is pretty good now. It has been bad in the past, but now it is tolerable.


I don't know if the auction is part of GwG, it says waiting for reply from www.guildwarsguru.com, but man that site is sooooo slow. Worse than the main sight used to be.

I might get to bid on this item before Friday.

k some server settings just have to be tweaked, I swear there is no load at all and page generation time is below 0.2 seconds, this new server is good It just needs to be adjusted to fit all the people coming in

The [index] page sometimes loads the news banner very very slowly. Everywhere else, though, it's as fast as lightning.

no i just wanted to post a reply to tell u that i cant create a new thread in the pc section, i get a blank windows page when i submit. And the submission doesnt actually go through. I also got the long loading page when i attempted to post a reply here. (its just blank with the guru background and suddenly pops up.) it also happens on the index page just like u said
