Oh Noes! The 'burbs!

Just accessed site and forums. No problems, and very fast. Two thumbs up. lol

Edited: Absolutely hilarious. Every time I post that the site works well, it stops working properly for me. I think I'll just shut up for another few days and wait out the issues. I'm having to access the forums via the numerical IP yet again, after having just got here the usual way. I don't know what's going on here.

The site seemed to be working well for some time, but lately (3:00-4:45 MTN) it has become extremely slow. For example, it took me a little over 103 seconds to load the last page of this thread. In addition, I also seem to be getting the following message an awful lot:

Quote:
There seems to have been a problem with the database.
Please try again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, whom you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience. I love the site, but these errors and such can be annoying.

Slow doesn't begin to describe it from where I'm sitting. 90% of links clicked do nothing, return a database error, or return a PHP error. When they do work, they take anywhere from a couple seconds to 3 minutes to load. It took me most of an hour to get this far. This is using either the host name or the ip address.

seems faster to me, but I have gotten a few 'too many connections' errors.

just tried to access the guild wars guru comic and received this:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /home/guildwarsguru.com/public_html/admin/lib/db_mysql.php on line 40
WARNING!
DB Error : Connection to Database gw_uart Failed
Some more usefull information you might want to know:
# Mysql Error : Too many connections
# Mysql Error no # : 1040
# Date : January 28, 2006, 6:08 pm
# Referer: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/
# Script: /content/guild-wars-guru-comic-id1647.php

it appears to me that mysql and/or server configuration(s) need some work.

1-2 min for page loading on a 5-MB connection when I can connect to the forum, sometimes I get page cannot be displayed through out the day.

1160 people online, and I'm flying around the forums...well done!

EDIT: Make that 1286 people online with no slowdown.

EDIT AGAIN: 1365 and still no noticeable difference for me...looks like we might be headed for a new "people online" record at this rate...

Allot better...still some "drag"(lack of a better term). For example to get into this thread took 10-15 secs. Much better then 3 mins and up.

Did I mention Allot Better....? Nice to see some snap again.

And then for about 10 seconds i get "waiting for adserver.mmoguru.com"

So far this morning I have seen some pretty good lag while in the forums. This is between 6-7am EST time. I am assuming there is data base management around these times?

I am not complaining...just passing this on. Not a whole lot of people on either at this time.

Well...this morning it is snappy again. Must be server maintenence when the "new" one is sluggest. That is my guess anyways. Is there anyway to post info on routine mantenence? Or will that compromise security?

Thank you! Ha...I slept in this morning. Didn't affect me. Pays to be sick as a dog sometimes. I never sleep in this long.

Overall the speed has been real darn good. I do not know if different parts of the US has different "speed bumps". I suppose they do. I am of course in the Mid-West and Chicago is our hub. I am guessing Guru is on the West Coast?

Question about speed: When the Auction forums are hot and heavy does that severly dampen the server speed overall? Or better put...What does affect Guru the most in the shape of member's individule speed? Or are these Stoopid questions?

EDIT: Well it is 9:48am EST and I am getting real long lag when trying to get into a reply. It took almost 5 minutes to "edit" this post. For the RECORD, I am NOT complaining, only passing on this info since Inde stated everything is back to normal. I am assuming there is work/maintenece still being done on the server. The original reason I was editing this post was I was replying to another post and while in the middle of writing it all of my "reply" just disapeared before I clicked on anything. I looked up and realized I was typing a sentence and all the previous sentences were gone. I am sick as hell today...so maybe I did something....I swear I didn't though. It was weird.

I've got the same deal, some reply's are snappy, some take quite some time.

But overall its still better than it was before the DB tweak and new server.

Let me know if I am "over doing it" on informing you all here. I don't want to be labled a pest. Might be too late for that though....

hmm..I tried to edit my last post to inform you all about the lag I am getting at 7:45pm EST (2-5-06). It would not let me EDIT my post...it took alost 4 minutes to reload the original post then it just put me back in the thread as if I didn't click on EDIT at all. There are about 1400 users online at the moment. My internet connection is good (6mbs).

Just thought I would pass this on...I have no idea if anyone else is having these same type lags.

Well, it does seem to lag once in a while on the post reply/edit confirmation, but it is much better then it was. it seems about the same speed wether theres 300 or 1300 people on, and the search is up and running, and quickly too. Overall, quite pleased
