Does this problem stem from not generating enough revenue to properly equip the site?
What would it take to upgrade the equipment to the point that doing things like searching or casual surfing would be possible?

Forums have been excruciatingly slow for me for the past sesveral days. Doesn't matter if I am at work or at home or the time of day. The little loading bar at the bottom gets half way across and just freezes, sometimes for a full minute or longer.

It's taking me forever to load pages today.
My browser, Firefox, just sit's there with "tansfering data from ehg-globalgamingleague.hitbox (or something similar) in the info bar. Sometimes it's taking like two minutes to open a single thread and the same to actually reply.

While I really enjoy this site it has become increasingly unreliable in terms of both the speed at which pages are displayed as well as receiving numerous "Cannot find server" errors. Both of these issues are apart from the normal database errors that still frequently occur.
It doesn't seem to matter if I am connecting from home or work, the net result is the same.
I have also tried connecting at different times during the day and night and while I realize that the load on your site is probably heaviest during the day I have still experienced all of the above issues after midnight PST.

In the morning up to 11 am (GMT) it takes like 10 seconds to load an item. It gets slower during the rest of the day. After 7 pm (GMT) most topics and posts time out.

Is really getting to be a problem, every time it try's to load my computer hangs for up to 3 1/2 min now. And I can not take them off the block lists I have(on firewall level) for security reasons. The ads give a bit of problems now and then, depending on the amount of users, but that is something I can live with.

Takes forever to load all pages for me, and half the time it goes to cannot find server, especially when im trying to quote things.

The server has been lagging pretty bad the past few days, it seems, but it is causing me more problems than normal. It used to be that when the server was lagging I could just hit refresh every time the "page cannot be displayed" error came up and eventually the page would load. This even worked when it would come up with "page cannot be displayed" after submitting a new post. When that happened, I would just click refresh once or twice and the page would load with my new post added to it. However, this week I've already had 2-3 instances where I have typed up a long, detailed post, click submit, and it can't put up my post and I have to do it all over again.
Here's what happens: I click Reply and fill out a post and click submit. It comes up and says "page cannot be displayed". I hit refresh and it says "invalid thread specified", and that's all it says, no matter how many times I click refresh after that. After "invalid thread specified" if I click the back button the blank reply form shows up, but everything I typed is gone. Alternate scenario: I click Reply and fill out a post and click submit. It comes up and says "page cannot be displayed". I click the back button and it goes to the blank reply form and everything I typed is gone. It's really irritating to keep putting a lot of work into saying something only to have it disappear into the lag netherworld. I know it is not adding my posts because if I open up a new browser window and go to the topic I was trying to post in and click refresh on the most page, my post is not there. I have even tried waiting for like an hour and gone through all the posts in the topic, and my llost post never shows up.
Is there something wrong with the database, or is the server just so terribly overwhelmed with traffic that it's having trouble processing new posts now? Poor guru server

Mmhmm. I know. As I have had to learn painfully, before hitting submit please highlight and right-click and select 'copy'. Or highlight and hit Ctrl + c.

I can attest to that.. But it does teach you some good skills, such as saving stuff before you submit it online. It's happened to me with wembail servers as well as GWG, but now that I've gotten used to it, my posts land with 100% accuracy.

Just out of personal curiosity, do you know what's causing this? Some of the time the site is snappy, then, just minutes later, it's completely inaccessible (pages time out). A couple of minutes later it can be snappy again.
It's quite different from when GWG was under ddos attack, then it'd either function well or be inaccessible for days at an end.

This site for me usually runs very slow, like I was on dial-up. But then the last 3 days it was painfully slow taking 3+ minutes to load any page. I wanted to post about it but it was so slow that I gave up. This happened in both the mornings and afternoons Central time.
Then today I try again and the site loaded very fast, the fastest it has in ages.
I really like this site but the slowness of loading is so frustrating that I frequently read just a few posts before going to a different fan site.
Edited to say, just in the few min since I posted this and started to try to view the site it has slowed again to a crawl and I am getting those can not vew this page messages and having to constently go back and do refresh to just display the pages.

Its still VERY slow for me and often has errors. I use IE so I guess its you not me.

I am using FireFox and it is doing what the people that say they are having issues with using IE. When the forums just started it was fast, then when it became more popular it slowed down over time (probably due to ammount of users). It loads randomly fast or slow. I live in the screenshot forums and sometimes everything downloads amazingly fast, while other times i get timed out errors...

I still get the long load times, either trying to log on to GWGuru and with GuildWiki or searching a thread, when i will get the cannot find server, or "a report has been sent to Admin/Tech ppl". At first i thought it was just Norton playing up, because the privacy icon would flash up, but now realise its unfortunately these two sights. Yes very annoying

A couple days ago, I got that stupid error message all day. And, as of late, only a few error messages and is still painfully slow.

Today: 8:00am - 18:30 struggled to even load the site. Constant `timed` out did not respond. Very frustrating.

I tried 5 times ( at various times ) to load site today, and got the error, site cannot be found:-@, perhaps, the site Admin, or a Mod, can suggest a work around fix, before i start to give up on this site!

As of right now, the speed is normal on download speed, but takes about 5-15 seconds to access and do any posting or viewing actions. It's very shaky though. One minute I'll be surfing along fine and then, bam, timeouts and a download box asking me if I want to save the showthread.php file. Really weird. I haven't seen that until two days ago. I think it started happening a day before the Nightfall event.

Thanks for letting us know causation, .neuronster., spottydog, and riplox. We are working on a solution. And Enchanted Warrior, Alexa really isn't an accurate report of anything. You can see overall trends but I wouldn't put much weight into anything it reports

Quite often it takes me 30sec+ to load one page. Also many times it will say that the page is done loading, but all that is there is a dark brown background with no content. I try to refresh the screen or to click the go icon next to the address bar to reaload it, but it often takes 15+ times before it loads properly and often I will have to close the window and wade through the board to get back again.
It's enough to make me want to smash my head through the computer screen.

i find that all guru pages are taking a year to load.
and it only has been like that i the past few days.
i blame the smielys adverts on the top of just about every other page.
there stupid annimation seems to chew up all me (admitely very small) RAM

I've only noticed it being as bad as it currently is the past couple of days as well.
Also server load shouldn't cause the page to load as done with no content on it I would believe. I figured it would just time out if it were server load, but I'll refresh and the done page with no content will appear 1-2 secs later like its not even trying to load the page properly.
I also have a feeling this is due to one of the adverts...

It's been slow as hell for weeks for me. Kinda got used to it by now. I just open multiple threads in different tabs and do something else for 5-10 mins. If the pages haven't loaded after that time, I hit refresh on all of them and again go do something else, and repeat. Eventually they'll open.
