Server Speed Feedback Needed

Im frustrated to the point that I dont even want to post any more(I know boo hoo), but god forbid you might want to edit a post, if it works at all that is. This site has more bugs and problems, it has become just an annoyance, and aggravation sorry, thats how I feel. Itll weork fine for a day, or a half a day, and then lock, lock, lock, up all the time. People contacting about auctions I closed, me buying items that dont exist anymore(cause the seller closed the auction). Its kinda frustrating, especially when for the most part the mods say the site is operating smoothly, welll maybe when theres 500 people browsing at 4:00am but midday forget it.
I just made a quick post, and wanted to edit it, well I think I posted at about 3:30(did one quick edit, and wanted to add something else), still havent been able to edit the post, thats over an hour to try to edit a post, coming to this site has just become an exercise in frustration that I dont really need. Things dont seem to get better for more than a few hours at a time. People dont complain about it becasue they cannot be bothered to try to post, not every one has 1 or 2 hours to post a 'site feedback', me Im hard headed, I dont give up easily, but Ive been wore down by this battle. Good luck Guru.
Get a better server or more headroom or something. Please do something, I hate having only one site to get opinions and keep up with the latest GWNews.

Learn the differnece between bandwidth and server load.
They just upgraded their servers a few weeks back. I am sure there were specs made to anticipate growth and usage statistics when they planned the new hardware. I hardly suspect that with these new machines, barring configuration errors can't handle the previous load with some new users. We have not seen exponential growth on the boards in that short a time, so again, that is likely not the problem.
I am a moderator on a forum that has far more users than this and we have some of the same problems, but it is not because of number of active connections. It is either due to DoS attacks, or database problems or configuration errors.
Also the version of vBulletin can be problematic. There have been some real problems with vBulletin in regards to speed and db query/retrieval. But my input here is, while more informed than yours, not really important.
The admins are aware of the problem, know the system and working to resolve it. Let's let them do that so we can all go back to starting multiple threads about the same thing
(which btw, can also be a problem. Save the server...use the search button!)

It "Seems" all these lag problems really started when the Auction started a few months back.
Is that a fair estimate? I was having problems as well in the middle of the day til late afternoon. Eastern Standard time.
I know you all are working feverishly on this...so I am not flaming or complaining...only asking questions.

No, it's not the auction. And if you think you are even half as frustrated as those of us trying to contain the problem then you are mistaken Sents
This latest spike is something we are dealing with but you know... servers cost money. We are looking at options, we are trying to isolate the problems. And then I see threads with people who admit to visiting daily, who help others turn off all ads on the site and how disheartening is that? That so many come to the site daily, use the resource and won't even view the ads that keep this place up, that afford us the cost of hosting, that give us the ability to expand with more servers. Ironic don't you think?
All sites have problems. I've seen problems on GWOnline.net (just a few days ago I couldn't access it for 3 days straight), OGaming (I see database errors a lot at night), GuildWiki (load issues, they had to buy a new server)... see the pattern? All large and growing sites have issues

So, from 10 am to 1 pm pacific is a bad time? Kinda sucks for my morning routine. *sigh* I like to read the forums while waking up, and the recent problems make that difficult to impossible (today).
Just to help out, I'll start clicking the ads. I really never thought about it before, but I'd be happy to do my part.

Dude have you seen how many peope are online??? for a forums Guru is pretty good when compaired to other forums considering the VOLUME of people viewing and searching on it... This si the problem. if you get on and see around 2000 members viewing... well the forums is pretty unusable... But you get on and see anywhere from 300 to 600 members on. well then it works a little better then...
besides this belongs in the Site Feedback section. not here... I'm sure MCS or another mod will move it...
