White Dye Formula
Manic Smile
yea...I've dyed it everything...including black...just makes it somewhat blurry but overall no real effect...very sad

A while back, me and 2 other rangers were fighting our way to Copper Hammer Mines.
She had druids armour with pure white, when I asked how she got it she didn't respond.
Not sure if this is the standard 'white' dye formular the OP said, I don't have a ranger so I can't test it and see if it turns out like this ranger's armour.

^ I think it's just silver.
@ Manic Smile and sno - Awww, That means I wasted 60k just to have 8k scars on my necro only to find out she can't have white scars. ><

I dye my warriors armor orange+green.
Odd, you might say, but it comes out to a very very deep gold.
Way cooler than the base color :P

It would seem using silver dye on 15k scars will produce the closest white you can get.

I think I'ma try that again...I admit it's been a looooooong time since iv'e dyed it anything

Nice ideologue, care to share your formula?

Using silver on that armor makes it perfect white.
In fact silver looks more white than those pics on my screen.

Silver on my monk's grotto looks silver, not white.

Ok but thats not grotto, It's collectors..

that formula is not correct with all characters, because in my avatar is used it on ym shield which made it white. But with my mesmer i got a different color:

i dont wanna spend TOO much money on looks, so i was wondering what 1 yellow + only 1 silver would look on say, my male ranger's druid's armor (droks) would it just be more yellowish? im not 2 interested in achieving pure white, just having it stand out
Also, can someone confirm that new dye overwrites old dye on any armor?

Ok, it's not 3 silver + 1 yellow, 2 silver + 1 yellow gets me a light-ish yellow. 3 silver + 1 purple = pale purple (nice) 3 silver + 1 blue = ugly light blue. blue + yellow + 2 silver= brown and.. 3 silver + 1 orange = darker silver.
That's done on collectors/enchanters/stylish female mesmer clothing... still not white, more tests coming when I have money again.
Cherng, new dye overwrites the old dye, you don't need dye remover for that.

Here is my Ranger 15K female Drakescale (Grotto) Armor
Dyed yellow+silver+silver+silver. Not too shabby. Matches the bow at least.

Also, can someone confirm that new dye overwrites old dye on any armor? Yellow + Silver usually makes a light yellow or gold depending on the armor. Going on how druids looks with plain silver, I think it would be a light yellow on the legs and top, with a light gold color on the hands and feet. Be careful dying druids unless you're sure though, if you use dye remover you wont get the original color back. It changes to a cream color.
New dye always overwrites old dye.

I tried the white dye formula on my monk’s tattoos. Fist group I joined complimented me on my pale lime green tatt’s.

http://forums.gwonline.net/showthrea...377823&page=35 Yeah I was just on that forum and saw the pic, unless its lighting or photoshoped I do not know that formula for that.
Unless he used an obscene amount of silvers + yellows

I see what you mean about that color. It does appear to be the whitest I've seen. Given that location is someplace in Kryta (or someplace with the Kryta tileset), it's possible that the lighting is making it so. Notice that the light source is behind the model, so we're seeing the shade side.
Based on the discussion in that forum, I think that we can guess that it may just be silver or a mix of silver and yellow with good lighting.
In looking at that picture again, I think that we can see that the ground is definately more grey than the ground outside of "Gates of Kryta". Additionally, you can see a part of a stone wall behind them. This leads me to believe that the shot may be taken someplace in the Talmark Wilderness/ToA area or in the guild hall that has the stone structures (not warriors isle - but the one with the same map). In both cases, the sky is a little grey, making the yellow in a YSSS mix a bit less visible. Run auto-levels on the image and you might get that sharp white line as artifacts around the contrasting colors.
Trickery on purpose? Probably not. Convenient lighting? More than likely.
I put that picture of the 1.5k enchanters into imageready and played around with the eyedropper tool. If you sweep it across the enchanter's attire, you'll see that the colors pretty much appear to have a yellow component to them. Comparing with the glove, it's a bit more blue. I think that the glove might be BSSS.
I made a picture where you can compare the two mixes against the original picture. Note how the colors are similar on the highlights on the leg and arm in the YSSS example as well as the highlights on the BSSS example. I think you can see what I mean about the colors clearly now:

sledgeunderhill, the Mesmer enchanters?
I can gurantee it's not just silver or 3 silver + 1 yellow. Also, the first time I've seen that mesmer, I was doing UW with her, and it shows up even whiter there (unless that's a different mesmer I was with at the time) so I don't buy the lighting thing either.
btw, silver makes a grey-ish colour on mesmer clothing, the standard 'white' makes a ugly yellowish light colour, slightly lighter than the below pic of boots which were dyed with 2 silver + 1 yellow.

wasted 10K experimentign with dyes to find out there is no dye to make monk tats white, the 3silver + yellow formula makes it a very very light blue.
like that kind of blue.

Not sure if anyone posted this. 15k Geomancer, YSSS results in a very light tan, brighter than YS, but nothing resembling white.
Given that all Elementalist armour defaults to a light purple, I wonder if that has something to do with it.

white dye is only for rangers

As someone is going to try it anyway I might aswell post it... this is what Y+S looks like on a Tormentor armor:

I seriously doubt there's a universal white dye. Hopefully in ch. 2.

I was playing around with Dye Remover and silvers, I did DR-S-S-S on the top and skirt but for the gloves I learned DR-S-S works just as well but DR-S doesn't.
Anyway I applied this combo to an already silver Fanatic's set and it brought out a cool little pinkness to certain parts, and the pink designs in the arms are really nice.
I imagine you could do this to any color and get cool results.

Howdy,
My monk, Karmic Justice, wears tats. Back in the day, I dyed these tats yellow + silver to make a nice white-looking colour to match her hair. Along comes this recipie for white dye (yellow + silver + silver + silver), I come into a lot of cash, and I decide to try it out...
No difference.
I try x1yellow and x2 silver.
Again, no difference.
I redo my original x1 yellow/silver.
Still looks the same.
Thoughts?
Someone trying to jack up the price of silver?

Someone trying to jack up the price of silver? I would suspect that the difference may show based on the type of item/material being dyed? I did the head tats on my monk with 2x silver/ 1x yellow blend. Looks white to me. Looks good on his tan too. I might get it done.

It depends on your base colour, while just silver looks white on the monks desert collectors, the rangers white is the 3 silver + 1 yellow. Try that on a mesmer and it becomes a rather ugly creamy colour (my opinion) as for scars, they always had a different way of dying things and apparently, 8k necro scars will stay black even after dyed.
So.. not someone trying to jack up silver prices, just some of us experimenting with silver dyes.

PLEASE...IF YOU HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE WHITE DYE AND NOT SUCCESSFUL, PLEASE PUT THE EXACT STEPS AND DYE COLOR THAT TURNED OUT PLEASE!!!
Okay...this is really gay!
I just tried TWICE to make WHITE dye, but it's not working...
I've heard various folumas, but I can't seem to get this down...
This is what I did for my 2 tries:
TRIAL 1 (wasted 1,050g) ==> (Silver + Dye Remover + Silver)
Silver -> Dye Remover == Mixed Dye Remover (1) (bottle color turned lighter)
Mixed Dye Remover (1) -> Silver == Mixed Dye (bottle was dark red color)
...okay...I have Knight Boots and I tried this dark red looking vile thinking it was White...
WRONG! ...this was nothing more than the regular Dye Remover color...might be a little lighter, but almost can't notice...
TRIAL 2 (wasted 1,550g) ==> (Silver + Dye Remover + Silver + Silver)
Silver -> Dye Remover == Mixed Dye Remover (1) (bottle color turned lighter)
Silver -> Mixed Dye Remover (1) == Mixed Dye Remover (2) (bottle color turned lighter AGAIN)
Silver -> Mixed Dye Remover (2) == Mixed Dye Remover (2) (bottle color did NOT change color)
...okay...I tried this on my Knight Boots again thinking now THIS was White because it looked very light colored...
WRONG AGAIN! ...this was AGAIN nothing more than the regular Dye Remover color!
I've heard that the formula is:
Silver + Dye Remover + Silver + Silver
...okay...but what ORDER is the dye supposed to go into...this?
Silver -> Dye Remover == Mixed Dye Remover (1)
Mixed Dye Remover (1) -> Silver == Mixed Dye (2)
Mixed Dye (2) -> Silver == Mixed Dye (3) ?????
***Please Note...this is different from Trial 2***
Could you guys please tell me if this Formula is correct.
Also...if it IS correct, could you please tell me which dye is supposed to go into which bottle?
As I've noticed... Silver->Blue->Green vs. Silver->Green->Blue WILL result in a DIFFERENT color!
Thank you for those guys that KNOW what the formula is and help me out with this! I WAS going to try that formula above, but I don't have enough money at the moment...and don't want to waste my cash at the moment.
Thanks in advance!
