Only once per character would do it for me. I named my first two toons, not thinking I wold like the game (I know, I was young(er), and stoooopid

) but now I love them...

It's just the names... I wouldn't have chosen them, knowing what I know now, and have started a theme with my other characters, that I would love to use on my first two.

So, ANet? Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with sugar on top and a nice colorfull bow around it?

Because this is an RPG. You're not supposed to be able to just completely remake your character when you're halfway through the game. Your character is supposed to be a "real" thing. You can't just change your size, face, hair, etc in real life (well technically you CAN, but that involves plastic surgery and such, and I don't think plastic surgery is offered in the GW world =P).

But, yes, definitely all for a name change. Once per chapter is fine for me...

i think 30 skill points would be more reasonable. i make about 7 a day through solo farming, so 10 wouldnt be too huge a deterrant.

Sorry, but for people who don't solo farm in abundance like many do, I think that's rather harsh and unfair ... skill points in general would be more appropriate than gold though, so I can agree with the initial claim, but I know I couldn't cough up 30 skill points every time I wanted to change my name, I'd much rather pay gold, but not 5k+ like some people have suggested.
It's just a name change ... I don't see what's so wrong about people doing it whenever they feel like it.

If anything, I think characters should be given the option of a name change up until they reach level 20, and once you're level 20, you have to start paying/giving skill points or something, or nothing at all. That way, people can pick and choose their name while they pick and choose 2ndary professions etc. and then once their character is set in motion at level 20 they're either cut off or have to start paying.

I think it would be more of a hassle for PvP and GvG, but if people are only participating in PvE I don't see what the problem in changing their name would be. So perhaps characters created solely for PvP cannot change names?

You (and some of the others) keep forgetting about the abuse... There are "players" (if we can call them that) who would make a benefit of changing their name 3 times (or so) a week. They would surely use it for scamming and to get away with it. I'm not saying that I don't support the idea cuz I've already signed that I do support it, but let's just stick to the good old 1 name change/chapter (per character) system. I think we've all played long enough by now to finally come up with a name that should last long or even forever. In my case I've already made up my mind.

You make a good point, and its true the majority of my names I stick with, but it would be fun, for a time.
Didn't think about scamming though, I just thought about mass name change and PvP ladders getting confused or something ... if that could happen? I dunno.

The skill point idea is good, and yes it should cost like 20 skill points since gold is too precious to spend on name changing.Maybe there should be a limit to the number of times you can change your name..2 is a good number.

I would definitely like to see the feature added the game, I think it would be really helpful to those people like myself that want to change they're character names due to a poor choice of names or lack of creativity. Even if it meant that the customized stuff like weapons and armor couldn't be used on the new character name it would be better then completely starting over.

My suggestion would be to set it up like the Territory change which we either have a limited number of times we can do it per character or allow like 1 change every 6 or 12 months. On a side note it would also be cool if instead of only a name change we could instead do character edit like the edit we go through when creating your character that way we would beable to change not only the name but the appearences (face, hair.etc).

Worse case, there could be a small fee charged for the name change but it would definitely save alot of time and energy having to recreate a new character just to change the name, not to mention losing alot of the event items like the santa hat or pumpkin head.

Please ANET take this into consideration.

Um, think twice before saying that. U would even lose ur customized armor. Wanna run around naked or something? Also think about the people who found or bought a perfect weapon and customized it. Losing it would be a little bit too much I think.

The territory solution is also a good idea, but changing the looks won't do except for the hairstyle and color. Maybe adding facial hair like mustache, beard, etc... for male characters and make-up options for the female characters would be a good idea. But that's another issue...

I would most like to see appearance change implemented - I like most of my character's names, but I want to make my ranger minimum hieght like my other characters - he is my first character and has quite a lot of customized stuff (like armour, rare pet etc)

I actually am happy with my character's names ( msotly) and apperances ( also mostly), but it's still a feature that would be good so logn as it's not *too* easy.

apperance changes I think should be unlimited and cost a couple of plat ( IMO cheaper will sink MORE gold not less, ebcause people will do it a *LOT* more)

Good Point... I'm sure those players that obtained expensive weapons or armor like fissure armor would be at a disadvantage since it would force them to give up they're customized items to make the change.

So allowing the new names to change with the customized items would definitely be nice.

I personally would go for once a year as that prevents your friends list and anything else from changing too rapidly.

/signed I agree with this to an extent. The same name rules must apply ex: can't be perverted, imature ok... offensive in general. This should cost a lot of money, yes it is worth like 10k even. I think it is important to keep this from being abused, and hey your time and titles are worth 10k. I also think this should be able to be a part of the cosmetic npc everyone talks about. Let me get a new look along with my new name.

Well when I did play GW, my main and only character at the time was banned because of some zionist/arabic regime policy garbage. So I already had the 2nd chance to change the name and I did. Now my name doesnt "offend" anyone but it would be nice if I can change the names of my other characters so they dont get banned for weeks on end like my first character did. If there is anywhere to sign I will sign for it.

BTW - I wonder if I make a character named Adolf Hitler. Will it be blocked or is it already taken? (kidding)
