it's just a question of degree --- both are unbalancing between professions.
and if you think there is no significant advantage to be gained from this axe, why are people paying over 100k for just one third of the components?

you say everyone has access to it, so it's not unbalancing, but that's not true.
does my warrior have access?

they've gone to great trouble to create a system of checks and balances to make the playing field as level as possible.
this weapon cearly lies outside that system.

Smart thing to do: Pile up on axes, but not mods.

Your Warrior won't get any advantage from it indeed, but who says you need to play a Warrior? Make a class that can make use out of this item, you can still get advantage of it. And no, I'm not saying you should do this, an I agree, ANet shouldn't force us to play other character because the one you like sucks, but it still doesn't make anything less balanced.

It's very unbalancing, but its tough to speculate on what they will do about it. Will they revert everyones existing copies to not have double grips? Will they just take it out and make a new quest reward? Will they make it so that you can still get it, but you can't put 2 grips on?

In any case I wouldn't be surprised if the next update did one of those things. I have 2 of these with just one grip and the +25 hp (just learned you can put 2 grips on), and I wouldn't be surprised at anything they did.

2x 20% longer enchantments works. Does 2x 30 hp works together = 60 axe? Can anyone confirm this?

Has anyone tested this with Blessed Aura? It seems spell duration is doubled with 15 divine favor(35% monk enchants) + 40% from the axe, which should be 75%. If it's rounded off, monks may not even need the perfect 40%.

I think some people inthis thread have made a +55 hp axe, so +60 is possible in theory, although it would be trickier.

well, in my ridiculous example the game was unbalanced because people were being forced onto warrior.
I don't see how the axe case is any different except in degree.
if you single out a particular class for an exclusive advantage w/no counterbalance, then that is unbalancing between the classes.
telling people that they are free to go monk and come up w/200k for mods is not much consolation.

albeit, this is far far less unbalancing than my ridiculous example, but it's unbalancing, nevertheless.

60HP doesn't work, don't try it. I tried it with low HP mods to save money and the moment you apply a HP mod it gets "locked". So once applu another upgrade it kills previous two.

I've sold six already, 37% to 39% for 100K plus 5 to 10 ecto.

Because you're doing it the wrong way.

You need to apply other mods, non Fortitude, to it first (cheapest mods possible to make things cheap), then add the Fortitude ones.

here's what it sounds like from reading this thread.

there is kind of a prefix and suffix grip --- a and b, let's say.

a = charr slaying
b = +25 hps

as long as a /= b, you can overwrite w/impunity, just as you would the prefix and suffix of a normal weapon, however, once a = b (in type, not value), the game recognizes them as one mod and will overwrite both if you try to replace one.

ok, so in theory.....
I first replace A w/some crapass grip of crotchgrabbing, or whatever.
the next grip I add will overwrite B (+25 hps), so I use a +30 grip.
note, both grips are still different, so now I add another +30 grip which could replace the crapass grip of crotchgrabbing.
+60

this is just my guessing --- anybody want to confirm or refute just for the hell of it?

@ eom - It doesn't have a suffix and a prefix grip, it has 2 suffixes... essentially, an Axe of Fortitude of Charr-slaying... just to clarify. And people, have fun with these axes... I'm away for a couple of days, it'll be nerfed by the time I'm back. Looks like I'm destined to remain poor... -.-

it has 2 suffixes in the traditional sense, but my usage was analogy.

from this thread it sounds like they are ordered.
whatever mod you put on first replaces the charr mod, according to some post I think I read.
