I just sold an Axe Grip of Enchanting 19% for 80k, no questions asked.

Soooo... Since this Axe will have a significant impact on PvP, do you think A-net will merely fix this problem by fixing the axe so it can't recieve 2 suffix upgrades or do you think they will retroactively fix all the axes that people have already made that have 2 suffixes on them as well?

Imagine the outcry when the "winning" team is accused of using the broken axe (and yes, it certainly is broken) and the remaining teams scream foul for using an item exploit?
I see no other way that they can balance PvP with the hundreds if not thousands of these already floating around, and word travelling like wildfire to horde them if you can.
Even saw one guy in Tombs advertising to report the axe via /bug , so they could remedy it as soon as possible.
We shall see if my prediction is right - either the axes will disappear completely, or one of the mods will be rendered useless through some recoding.

i say "WTB axe max axe grips of enchant" in LA europe and get a reply from none other than "big wain". HE is willing to sell me one for 35k. i pm him 2 secs later and he tells me that has just sold his for a regular price (50k?) and is spamming WTB axe grips of enchants for 30k.
he then goes to tell me "us euros r pretty thick u know" and well what can i say... i agreed with him.

I was going to get myself one, but I don't know, the idea makes me feel dirty. I'll stick with my Cruel Cleaver of Enchanting +19% for farming I think.

The reason why this Battle Axe can have two upgrades of same type, is because it has two upgrades (axe grips) of same type already.
+25 hp is only available in axe grips. Also dmg bonus vs something is only available in axe grips. I assume that ANY quest item which has at least two upgrades of same type can be modded same way as this Battle Axe.
If someone finds quest item with three axe grips, then perhaps you can put THREE 20% enchantments last longer upgrades. Good luck...

I'm pretty sure that if you stick two 20% enchant mods on it that you dont get a 40% longer enchant, just 2 chances at a 20% longer.

Nah you get +40%, I have tested it, I was getting just under 7 seconds for the Guardian spell with +18% and +19% grips (total 37% longer enchants)

If they do fix this in line with other items i.e. you're not supposed to be able to put two grips on an item, the ones who have spent massive amounts on axe grips have only themselves to blame for trying to take advantage of this. Complaining about it (assuming they do fix it) is like complaining you can't cheat anymore...

well I opened up the clock to time it and put on my 20%en 20%en axe.

which seems between 5 to 6 seconds a real border mark im talkin miliseconds...
then we tested AoTL 35 seconds of duration
lasted for 49 seconds; 50 seconds once it gave +hp
calculation part now...
5*1.40=7 seconds
5*1.19=5.95 seconds
35*1.40=49 seconds
which is on par with our results before we even typed it out in calculator
and 20% longer enchants isnt a "chance" its a modifier; like Barbed; it isnt a chance it always makes the bleeding duration longer.

i know this is the wrong place for it but, eng+5 staffs and wands drop all over the place in the northern shiverpeaks, granted their not max dmg, but if ya want +5 eng, their easy to get, i have had at least a dozen or more come thru my packs in the anvil rock zone, and several other places, most are mid range.
And as far as people using the "axe" in pvp, i would think that a few good mesmers or necros, could strip enchantments, good enough to really not make a differance? Not sure as I am not a big player of pvp.
I myself have 2 of these axes unmodifyied, and a seperate +19% just sitting in storage, i myself would really only use this item for solo monk farming, or 2-3 man uw teams, so im gonna try it once i get another grip, prolly try to sell off the other one at some point, but i'm sure as hell not gonna go spending mass amouts of gp to put one together, there's tooo many people out there now trying to sell these things, and the prices have skyrocketed on the grips, not only that people seem to think all the enchantment upgrades are now worth more than they are, ie wrappings and sword pommels.

the point of the HoD sword is getting the +5 energy AND two more upgradeable spots (hilt and pommel)...AND AN OFFHAND with more energy or skill recharge/cast, etc.

The quest reward axe has been broken since it was added as a quest reward, the general public is just now figuring it out thanks to the first guy trying to sell his +40% enchanting axe for 1000k in ToA.
Anyone who thinks adding 2 grips to an item was intended or "not broken" cannot be serious. Unless you believe they put this one item specifically in the game to unbalance the rest of the items, you are deluding yourself.
And if you don't think it unbalances PvP as the 100k real money tourney is underway - go sit in Tombs for 5 minutes. That is the easiest place to sell your broken axe, as people are looking for an unfair advantage and will snatch them up like hotcakes.
Spellbreaker lasts 32 seconds with blessed aura and the 40% axe.
Shield of Justice can last 40+ seconds with a single cast.
Aegis prevents 50% of attacks from hitting the entire party for 17 seconds.
Protective Spirit can last almost 40 seconds at a cast.
Illusionary weaponry is almost completely constant, and if you use the mantra to extend enchantments it can be used near continuously.
Sorry for the limited examples, I only had a monk/mes to test it on. With 2 monks echoing SB, your entire team can remain immune from being the target of a spell for an entire match. Covering up the enchant with mask enchants certainly prevents any physical enchantment stealing (ie chillbains) from effecting this.

well i got me a few of these axes but im gonna hold off modding them until i find out what a net are going to do to them, im not gonna spend bucketloads of cash on grips to have it taken off me the next day :/ i eagerly await the 'nerf'

I agree that this item is broken. Come on, I dare you to go to Tombs and encounter a Spellbreaker running team. It just, well, sucks. Sure, you can beat it, I happen to be one of the few running Chillbains, but still, it's a great advantage for a team using these.
The best ANet can do is not delete these axes, since a lot of people will get upset, but change it so only 1 of the 2 mods is in effect. Or that if there are 2 different mods on it, both work. +30HP and +20% enchanting is nothing, it would be like the opponent was wielding a Hale staff of enchanting.

+30 HP + 20% is not the same as +30 HP + 20% +12 energy +other possible mod
i see no way that a-net can nerf this without it being causing a huge uproar (lol i can imagine)
