LOL!, since I wear collectors, I actually found my exact twin in Pre the other day. Except he was wearing a orangish brown coat and boots....

Also, dying doesnt just apply to the color on the armor, but the material its made out of. Like Blue on metal looks different than blue on cloth.
It will help you out early on to have a pet, but as you get into the game, most people will dump them in place of 2 other skills in their skill...
