I like the new PvP system because now I don't feel like I'm wasting time when I PvP... "oh wow..I've earned 20,000 XP on this PvP...
You should only have to complete the Path quests once(per character), after that, you're golden to switch to whatever, whenever.
Even when I started PvP I knew what I was doing because I made sure to play through the PvE first. I can't tolerate going into a PvP battle...
