Surely nobody would be running Vista on a DX8 card, I guarantee it's down to the shitty graphics card not liking Nightfall!
That looks very much like the graphics card is on it's way out. Good luck with getting Alienware to do anything about it.
Maybe running with the -dx8 and -noshaders command line switches would help, because the OP has an old Radeon 9200 graphics card. If memory serves...
