Yup. I tend to play the quest through to the end, ignoring the chests, then flagging the heroes away and retracing my steps.

Check the permissions on the folder it's trying to write to.
Don't know if that happens to everyone, BuD, but it has certainly been reported by several people. Me too.

The only chests that drop Crystallines in SF are the special, keyless chests spawned during Kilroy's quest. These chests always drop purples...
