You don't have to get the blessing if you know the 3 spawn locations of the nornbear.
No it won't work with bows and it should work with an elemental mod on a melee weapon.

Prophecies is, by far, the greatest storyline out of all the campaigns/expansion. It's the only storyline that I actually liked.

IW in general is pretty bad in PvE, and for farming 55 would be the way to go.
