you do realize that the little crosshairs button in the hero skill bar lets you set a specific target for that hero right?

nope, most of them are in alliances, but not with each other

Scythes only hit more than one target if the opposing foes are stupid (ie mobs) players should be smart enough to spread out.

Because you can respec a pvp character to however you want, but a pve is kinda limited based on what you have in your inventory.
