Losing that pip of regen means you lose 1 energy every three seconds, less if you swap sets for every cast. If you can hit one per three seconds...
You'll still clear groups faster with Discord, an enemy dies every ~6 seconds, synergy just means that your builds cooperate, it doesn't...
I did this as a W/D Dragon Slasher with Heart of Holy Flame to deal holy damage. I tried this many, many times with smiters and couldn't do it...
