Did he die? Cuz I know I've finished this quest and didn't run into this sort of problem.
They added items with +5 energy sometime in Factions. You've been able to get them for some time now. Nightfall just makes things easier.
Err, the ammount of bugs that are in nightfall is minimal compaired with the other two campaigns. Plus, I like the fact that they are holding off...
