Nothing drops it, and I've never salvaged any either. All the damask I've ever had I had to either purchase or craft.
Salvage the staff and pray for one of the mods instead of a nice stack of wood planks.

Channeling isn't particularly good to use in GvG due to the fact that you have opportunity to kite away from your opponents and channeling...
