They all now have five o'clock shadow and look like they are trying to hide a bag of toffees in their mouth.

My male Tyrian monk with an Asian face was definitely affected. He always used to have cropping issues around the eyes, sort of a strange white border. That problem is fixed, but he now looks very different. His features are less Asian-looking, and he has dark streaks under the eyes which look like makeup and seem less-than-masculine.

The one of the ranger, is funny as hell! Talk about "symbiosis" between her and her pet! They did more than just "Heal as one"! I think the pet did a little "Beastial pounce" on her!

I've nothing new to add on the faces; some of my characters are noticeably different but not to the extent some here are. Mostly their expression is a bit off - slightly smiling instead of a scowl, etc. I'm happy that lipsync is being added and can understand the need to change this retroactively.
I would however like to report one thing on this thread we're told is maybe being monitored and point out this long running glitch to people, and which I hope could be fixed -
It occurs with the camera pulled right back (which is why it's such a small picture) and while running forwards. It's more difficult to get a screenshot of it than I thought but is very obvious when moving.

yep my monk has a weird look with those enlarged buns, i think is not difficult to reduce the mesh (of the buns) of the hair to match the previous size, please fix it, looks like she has a bigger head

Sure the Mona Lisa's smile is famous, but you still wouldnt want to wake up next to her in the morning would you?
Its a case of we like what we had. AFAIK there was no mention of character facial changes in the Anet update, and I completely fail to comprehend how these major graphical errors managed to get through Quality Control or whatever Q.A system Anet uses.
You'd have thought that with each change they made to a face they would have rotated it, changed poses, or AT LEAST LOOKED AT IT without the beer glasses on before release.
At least its comforting to hear that Anets team are working hard on correcting the problem, and kudos to them for the hard effort & willingness to do it, but the fact is that it ought not to really have happened.

My ele has new eyes. She looks like someone said "Boo!"

now my ele looks like a zombie, and every my female character got a makeover which anet needs to make the makeup as an option when you create a character, not on my existing characters.
Deacon Roswell
My ranger now has a very noticable vertical blinking line in the middle of his chin. He has the goatee and there appears to be a gap right in the middle that blinks black/white. Not sure how they could miss something as obvious as this. I'm starting to think they don't even test updates.
MelechRic
I admit it... I'm the one responsible for all the female makeovers in the last update. I just like the just-been-crying-smirking-scared-eyes-botox-lipped prostitute look.
So sue me!

Mammoth
Some of them look decent i must say, of almost all of my characters i'm pleased with the changes, nothing has been destroyed or damaged, but seeing some of these screenshots is giving me a good laugh
luckly my main monk hasnt been changed at all (yet?) (she's the second canthan choice i believe, which already had some teeth showing before this update)
all of my other characters have either been left alone or slightly improved, with the exception of my warrior, where depending on the lighting, it may not look as good as it did before.
I wonder if they removed some polygons on the faces to be able to open their mouth for nightfall... it could explain the overall downgrade some people have been seeing, especially with lighting

Silvergun Superman
I agree that some after changes on certain characters do look better than before but most look deformed now. Especially when they are under dark lighting, makes them look even worse.

I'm not very happy about the wider mouths. It's just not natural to walk around with your mouth like that all the time unless you're bucktoothed or something. And to add insult to injury, the teeth are some rotting yellow shade? I notice that my other characters still have their lips shut, and given a choice, I'd rather my necro's mouth shut rather than more open. I really hope this gets fixed...
Other than that, ANET could you PLEASE fix my female necro's shoulder? At least I don't have to stare at her face all the time, but I am staring at her back and this glitch is very annoying.
My other characters seem relatively ok except for my mesmer's ruined makeup and a general look of stubble on my female character's faces in certain lighting...

I believe the lips and teeth are more detailed in this particular case.
And the mouth slightly more open.
Which I think isnt a bad thing.

All 7 of my characters look fine to me, my mesmer looks slightly different but then again...i'd call it character evolution... XD

True some characters are messed up and will be fixed, but all the female monks look much better and realistic in my opinion and the female warrior above also looks much better. She looks more alive and real now. In the first picture she has a blank zombie stare, now she looks like she is looking at something and has more depth above and below her eyes. |
That aside, this thread is so damn funny, not because of the changes, but because of the amount of unbridled humour in here. So I'm gonna keep reading! -nods-
As for Christie and koa_Torqual, I think you're both overreacting a touch. Anet -will- fix the shader issues (along with the hair and glitches, etc), the -only- thing to worry about is if they're going to revert the changes they inadvertedly made to a character's mouth, or whatever. Like Gaile said, people need to move with the times and get on board about the changes. While I don't want my warrior's face to change from what I've been used to for the past 14 months, if Anet decides to keep the change that's their call.. it is their game. It's just a matter of accepting the changes to the game and moving on, sort of like ritualists now going "Okay, they slightly decreased the recharge time on Ritual Lord, I'm gonna move on and deal with it" instead of "wtf bring back the old ways".
That said, I don't entirely disagree with koa_Torqual, because like he said, the people who -actually- use the face should get the say. It's still hard to determine who uses it and who doesn't, besides.
Yes, I don't make sense 90% of the time, so excuse me! -eats twig-

If the human being didnt develop its senses and its characteristics in order to adapt to new situations, it wouldnt have survived.

At this point in the day, the team has made many corrections, and yes, they've looked at a number of elements, including things like teeth, the odd lighting around that mouth, shadows around the lower part of the face, etc., etc. The changes were worked up through the night, and likely will roll out today, but please, that is not a promise but more a casual prediction, because, well, it won't be live until it's live.
More info as it becomes available!

Here's a screenshot I took of my mesmer. Her face didn't really have any significant changes although now you can kind of make out two dark marks besides her mouth.
I came across this ele too, Got Milk? LOL

I checked out my characters last night. My warrior is still the same looking althought he looked much older now. My mesmer's face and eyes seen to be changed... my ele hasn't changed. My necro looked cuter now for some unknown reason. I couldn't tell if my sin has changed since she always wore mask on her face and my monk looked kind of weird.

Looks like my ele got off lightly after all.

I checked my characters yesterday to see if anything had changed, and checked them again today. My only female character, my elementalist, doesn't seem to have any changes. And my male characters don't seem different (though I think my warrior might have more visible lines around his mouth). But the thing that does seem more apparent are their glowing ears.
Ears have always had a slight glow to them, possibly because they appear to create their own lightsource It really doesn't bother me much, but it does make the face/head look unnatural and odd at times.
My assassin on the character select screen:
He looks fine when fully lit like that. But in the game he looks like this:
My necromancer is even worse:
My only male character to not have this problem is my monk:
And my ritualist also now has a bump on his bottom lip that I need to get medication for:
Maybe the males weren't changed and I am just noticing this stuff more with all the complaints about the altered faces, but with the upcoming addition of facial animation it will draw more attention to the face and I don't want my characters to look funny during cutscenes and what not.
Someone has to speak up for the male characters... even if glowing ears aren't as bad as rotten teeth and zombie faces.

Enhanced, toothy mouth gape is not attractive, and coupled with a moustache, it's downright horrifying. She's my second oldest character, and I'm not remaking her. If the moustache persists, I'll stop playing her very much at all. Someone please help her! *sobs* |
My characters all look ok. My ele got a bit of an eye tweak but I dont think it looks bad.

In all honesty, from what I've seen the monks and warriors look great now, however mesmers and to a lesser extent elementalists have gotten problems or downgrades, necromancers im not too sure about, some of them look much more happy in an evil sorta way, and rangers i generally have no comment on, but some of them actuually look better
I've got no comments or thoughts on Canthans of any kind, since i dont think they were all or entirely effected by this, my canthans have not seen any change actually
My canthan monk, Ave, was unaffected by this, and im happy about that *gets out a gun* and I hope she is 'unharmed' come nightfall

^^ I know what you re talking about. Almost every character got that line if you look at it carefully. it looks like if it wears a wig, but this is totally difference to my mes after the update. When i made my mes, she didn't have that yellowish spot in her head. I assure you its not a line. i don't think it got to do with a graphic card.

The dark area in the neck is not due to lighting. No matter how you rotate it, it is always there. It's kinda bad when the character moves his head and this thing just looks like some area of darker skin.
Edit: Hmm... By looking at a few more previous screenshots, maybe the dark area has always been there.
