Chapter 4 Hints in Nightfall Manual?
natuxatu
The Charr would be fun if they made it playable... but I much rather play a Tengu :\ But I still hope the next chapter has more professions instead of races. I don't want to see dwarfs or elves or anything like that but come what may. Still I think more info is needed before better conclusions can be made.
KoalaMeatPie
If they go for A north American / Amerindian Feel / look, HOPEFULLY they will make a lot of places like Melandru's Garden.
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Melandru%27s_Garden
And Between Dwarves, Elves, I'd rather play Tengu.

A northern Antarctica continent would be awesome, would be fitting if the story revolved around Dhuum and Grenth (Hence the cold part lol). However I wonder how they'll be able to build a story out there.
Personally I hope they don't introduce new classes but come up with some sparkling way to reinforce or buff up the existing classes. Or make Chapter 4 very VERY Assassin/Dervish friendly, now heck that would be interesting in a weird sort of way.

It's also a possibility that the Charr worshipped the Titans but it's a fact that they have their own gods. |
*Spoiler*---
It clearly states in a quest in the Gate of Secrets at the end of the game that The Charr worship the Titans ((Burning Titans atleast, hence their 'FIRE' gods)) as Gods, and also that the Titans abandoned the Charr by this point in the whole Nightfall storyline. So Give it a rest. Their own gods ARE the Titans.
*end of Spoiler*
as far as the 'Northern Areas' goes, it can't be Ascalon, as Tyria refers to all the kingdoms in those areas.
I think that the Northern Areas will be Chapter 4 in the storyline. As far as influences go, there is a big possibility that there could be Norse themes, but also Russian themes, German, English, Scottish, Irish, and Celtic themes. and of course, Inuit themes.
When I think of "Northern", I am not just thinking of all ice, ice, ice, and cold, cold, cold. I am thinking of a climate more of that of Scottland, or Iceland((Volcanic! Charr may have come from an area like this???)), High, rock mountains like that in the American Northwest, with forests, and rolling plains and valleys,
then comes the endless Ice sheets, polar bears, and penguins.

However... Prince Methu the Wise states during some Primary Quest, leading to the explorable area with the vabbian library, that he possesses certain stone tablets - not simply rocks, but ones coming from an island somewhere in the ocean; an isle that mysteriously dissappeared afterwards. Reminds me of some island we all know and love; it's name's beginning with an "Atlan" and ending with a "tis". Since not everyone got that shiny NF-Necro-Endgame-Armor, we can't expect to travel to something that... wet. Well, and there they come, the corsairs from page one. |

i want more charr. tough ones. level 28 charr lords. no more of this rinky-dink level 10 charr boss crap. give me a charr i can at least cap an elite skill from.
I have a feeling it will be north of ascalon for chapter 4-- making Cantha the only chapter not connected to the others (yet... i hope to see more expansion on alliance battles, lux v kurz or others, and find out what else is on that southern continent (isnt cantha far to the south of tyria/elona?)
And with some of the early early rumors for Nightfall hinted at Orr... so Im going to say that chapter 4 will be Orr. Im going to go read over the manual again...
AND FOR ANYONE WHO DOESNT HAVE THE MANUAL- you can download the pdf at guildwars.com- i think its right on the main page.

My assassin has never kicked so much ass in pve- elona is great for assassins... only diss them from your group in Cantha not Elona.
I beat gate of madness with henchies and one henchie was Zenmai set as wild strike and blinding powder... my assassin is chillin in Vabbi atm and its super easy so far... and I use him to farm stolen sunspear armor in 4-man team of my heros.
sorry to be off topic- but im trying to do my part in revitalizing the Assassin spirit in-game so spread the word (and still reject all assassins in Cantha lol)

ANTARCTIC = South
Northern Antarctic?
Personally I'd much rather see a North American Boreal Forest Theme, like Melandru's Garden, there are already too many deserts throught GW, Don't need anotherone.

Theres a quest further in the game it wont ruin the game but.....just incase so you dont get mad. There is a quest from a charr this is what he sais, "My soul longs to bask in the flame of the lands that we called home." "I've been imprisoned for what seems ages." "Perhaps our gods the mighty titans, abadon us?" "Theres only one way to find out." He also sais outside I Quote "I'am not your foe." "We are all prisoners in here, and with the world itself tormenting us we have little reason to bicker. So im thinking of a crazy idea, i still havent finished that quest but im planning on it. I think that we are looking at the char the rong way, they arent foes just a race fighting to live. They will probably be our allies , some not(because of certian reseans) and we might have to fight and over powered force that drove them away from where they where settled. I'm also thinking the technology in the game will be more advanced like engineering. You never know the force can even be a more powerful charr, and the charr we met could have even ben outcast.I'm going back to document the char, theres something going on with them...

couldn't the northern area be another kingdom that was overrun a long time ago by the beasts. (Charr, Musatt possibly, Titans)
The North could be a artic mix of snow moutains and volcanos. Kinda kinda like Alaska/ Northern America.

To give the drow city the benefit of the doubt, (s)he could have been thinking that Antarctica is actually a continent while the Arctic is just an ice cap, and wanted there to actually be a continent under all the ice.
Ultimately, though, I'd say a colder climate in general would be better, with an arctic section. Having everything be fields of snow as far as the virtual eye can see would probably get pretty boring pretty fast.

STONE TABLETS - does that ring any bells? Hello! Want to have some Signets of Capture for free?
Although technically Orr wasnt an island, but now it is several (fire) islands. Though peninsula translated into some languages means: semi-island.

It would be nice to have an Atlantis kind of place to visit but unless Anet makes a evolution of Gw set in the future it wont happen since Orr (both whats left of it and whats under the sea) isnt enough content to fill a game.
i think by Northern Antartic he meant basically an antartic stlye world (since antartic is a continenent the artic isnt) but up north instead of down south since the Gw world doesnt neccessarly have to follow our own worlds layout
I would be interesting if Anet made the Charr allies in the next chapter, perhaps u begin as enemys and they after a few missions u establish an allaince with the charr who begin to follow the true gods after being abanddoned by the titans before and then you have to help them fend off an attack by another force ie. rebel Charr or Titans or a northern Human kingdom (Eskimos) that hates all the other kingdoms (charr, tengu and other humans)
Btw i dont think the fire islands are Orr, Orr is directly south of Kryta on the coastline, north left of the crystal Dessert, where there are a island section which is all that remains of Orr

First of, Orr was not somewhere in the ocean (but bordering the Sea of Sorrows); secondly, it actually was one of the most important kingdoms before the searing. Sure, that slimey Prince Mehtu could have seeked attention by making well known facts look that mysterious and strange - but I highly doubt it. Besides, sometimes I play MacGyver, combining pieces of stone with chalk, making... no, no nuclear weapons, but homemade stone tablets. Oh wow, that simply has to mean they are... Orrian...! /cough.
Oh, and Orr is not equal to the Ring of Fire Island Chain, at all.
@ Northern Regions
Remember that second path over the Shiverpeaks, far in the north of Borlis, deep in the charr territories? Hmhm. Has to be cold over there.

'Northern Areas'
I am also wondering how Cantha could be trading with the Northern Areas, if, well, How do they get that far north? by land? This is highly doubtful. by sea? They would have to sail around Tyria Either west or east, which would be a pretty long ways.
Cebe
A northern "snow"/"mountains" themed area would be nice
I noticed someone mention something about the Charr...I found that Charr in the Realm of Torment and that did make me wonder. If the new landscape is going to be that of post-searing Ascalon it may actually discourage me from buying the game! That is why I never started a character in Tyria...how can people bear to go from the beauty that is pre-searing to that disgusting charr-overrun wasteland?

but Anet strayed away from this by showing more wasteland at the end of the game, and not giving Ascalon a happy ending.

Hmm...well if you guys can remember..to whoevever has played through Tyria, Watchtower Coast? Bettletun?
Bettletun is a guard outpost, in essence, bordering the Giants Basin, the 'huge saltwater lake' in North Kryta. Well, I doubt that the 'Northern Lands' is gonna be fiery, burning, or "molteny" (is that a word? ) I doubt it'll be icy as well.
I think that well, the Northern Lands are gonna be like 'Melandru's Gardne', and like Pre Searing. Though, in order to shape that good vs. bad kinda thing..the lair of the antagonist in Chapter 4 will HAVE to be fiery etc..because, assuming the Charr are from the Northern Lands.. I doubt that they're gonna be living amongst happy birds and thriving oaks. Lol.

Hey guys, don´t you think we need something new?
Dunno, some guys said something about a chapter where the events occur BEFORE the Prophecies campaign.. That looks, at least silly for me! You make a toon @ proph, then play pre-searing, 'after-searing' , Factions and Nighfall Campaign only to go back in time to pre-searing times? OMFG, what if you find yourself @ lvl1, what would happen
I have no clues regarding the next chapter, but if I´m not mistaken, the dev team for this game is the same that made Factions... (hope they have learned with theyre mistakes..)

This would also have the effect of distancing the port city from Charr territory.

people come on we are not going back in the past if u beat the last mission in elona and saw the cut sceen you will know why

what i really think is the game will be about pollution in the water of the north. We must stop it by cleaning the penguins with downy!!!!WE MUST FIGHT
thezed
And one of the penguins will not know how to dance...but he can SING!!
Ras Mortis
But the penguin isn't singing as you first believe...he is chanting! in ancient Orrian....calling forth his dark god...the WALRUS OF DOOM! and this walrus is obviously pissed about the global warming brought about by the vile Charr....
Tide to Go
i just remembered something there was no explination for that statue in the middle of tyrias desert was there.....i will go look at it again eathier it delt with elona or it deals with gw4
Ras Mortis
The deserts of Tyria/Elona have been littered with statues since day one. There is a lone statue of Glint in the northern areas, along with other ancient statues of Ossa and company near Heroes Ascent. The particular one you speak of was uncovered due to your teams arrival from the wastes. Teleportation magic often causes strong gusts which explains the "sudden" appearance of the statue as the sands are cleared from its surface.
What is truly interesting is the graven images found in Elona's Reach. They resemble armored penguins and one looks as if it is a mighty WALRUS OF DOOM!!!

There are two hints in the manual, both are in the from of images .
Take my word for it, in chapter 4 there will be a mass exodus and invasion .

Concept Art on Pages 6 and 7?
Didn't see something like this in Elona? Check. Does not fit Nightfall-Style and Colors? Check. Mass Exodus? Check. Looks gruesome? Check.
And your Invasion?

If they go with a norse theme I swear they better make it the best GW EVER. Seriously I will be so pissed if they waste the best theme EVER POSSIBLE on a bad game. If they do go norse my expectations will be so so so so so high.

I do kind of wonder who built giant statues of people in Knight's armor and why they did it...
Guildmaster Cain
maybe the Great Giants (Giganticus Lupicus) build them, 10.000 years ago. At least their bodies are still found in the crystal desert (the big bones).
Actually their size reminds me of Abaddon, maybe he was a Great Giant as well. He might have bested his predecessor (which he prob had, if u follow sidequests), and changed him from a mortal Great Giant.
I wonder if the other gods are as big as Abaddon, and im not talking about their Avatars. They are siblings after all...
Maybe we get an Avatar of Kormir in Chapter 4...
