PC Gamer May 2007 Information - "Guild Wars Reborn"
Undressed
What's up with the negative posts? Should I wave to your goodbye, feel sorry for you, pity you, shed tears? Please seek attention somewhere else.
Let's see how the level cap works in GW2 and then decide.
A lack of character-transfer is a good idea, especially since the story occurs several hundreded years later. Men are mortal and so you are you.
I'm looking forward to it, and if you don't, well, this should not be the place to voice it, because nobody cares, nobody will miss you.
btw: DX10 ftw! =)

Hmm, I'm a bit dissapointed with all of this news.
I came from guild wars after playing a free MMORPG called maplestory and left because the only thing to do in hat game was to grind to your next level. I switched to guild wars because I liked the idea of a game in which your strengths were determined by your skills and strategies rather than whoever can pull off the most all-nighters.
Even if levels have no potential benefit after level 20 (Which is the best we can hope for really) It will still have problems. People will start to dictate skill by your level and inevitably, even though they have no real benefit over a level 20, a level 100 will be seen as "better" or more experienced.
I really disslike the idea of not having characters continue. Gaile's explanation and relating to other games where characters couldn't continue is stupid. Guild wars used to be the game that did not abide by the rules other games followed. Who cares that other games couldn't continue? what's next? saying that game X doesnt have feature Y meaning guild wars shouldn't either.

Furthermore, i doutb you played wow to know what makes it like it is, cause what GW2 is stated as being is still FAR away from being like wow in anyway
People do have their right to opinions yes, but the WoW argument holds no water, not in the very least.

I for one am definitely not going to be getting that WoW wannabe game called GW2.
To tell you the truth I dont care about the level cap...its not being able to take your roleplaying characters over, I know people with 8 characters or more, that theyve spent hours on... getting armor, weapons... that is all pointless now..someone is probably going to post after me saying noooo its not pointless...well guess what it is, because you know nowhere near as many people are going to play GW1 when the second game is out. Im all fine with this level cap phooey and better graphics...why are you fools at anet calling this an "EXPANSION PACK" ??? oh, you people want to do something about useless skill points how about just giving 100g per skill point or something jeeze. anet you are now a total joke..as if you werent enough of a joke before. uh no its not quite like that Exoudeous, because im already quite bored of the current playstyle...i actually liked the older playstyles...o0 get it? and I know a lot of other people who do aswell pvpers and pvers. bye anet I know for sure youve at least lost 3 players. but probably gained millions of former WoW players who are fed up of paying monthly goooood job! |

And Lifeinthefridge? dont suggest me to get a life. how about you read my post and get over it and dont comment on my life..get out of your fridge and live your life stop suggesting what i should do with mine. your living on this forum, and pretending as if your not the least bit pissed/upset that your characters will be obsolete quicker than you thought. and how are you so sure you have more achievements than me in the game 0o...Im pretty sure Ive got you beat by miles. already even got you beat by rank.

and if you look at it they really are listening to people and doing stuf based on trends. The good companies are the ones that make gmaes people like, any compnay can make games that people say they want, but in hte end the consumer really doesnt know what they want.
you can get all upset now if you want, but really you cant judge anything till you see the ful effect of it. 2 years is a long time. I remember reaing about guild wars 2 years before it came out, and it was completely diffrent on final release, but i still liked it anyways. cause it was fun and thats what is important.
and no even if you dont delete them, you cant have them forever, one day the servers will get shutdown and you wont be able to log on, and all data will be deleted. all mmos end up like that.

This is an April joke. This is the very antithesis of what made GuildWars different from other grinds MMORPGs, and thus fun.

it's hilarious how much some of you are looking into what "holiday 2007" means...cmon, let's be serious here.

He.. ck. I think it's gutsy to do what you guys have done with GW1. And this announcement may not be what we all originally expected but it's da... rn gutsy too.
Despite GW1's flaws, AN has never been anything less than innovative. Based on that alone, I'll buy anything you guys make. Even if I think it's more like an MMO than I'd like it to be. And maybe I'm the only one that feels that way, but I really doubt it.

A-Net has never let us down in the past, after the shock of the article I see the good things that can be with GW2.
I would definatly like to continue to grow my charcters in a new world.
I just hope the expansion is enough content to hold us over, expansion makes me think smaller than a chapter in mission/quest/items scale.

Something that puzzles me, only 150 more skills, while 90 are reserved for Master skill hunter (to get from 290 (or 291 for some) to 380).
Seems kinda strange to me

So I was sitting around thinking about what GW would be like, with parties of five-hundred level 97 pink bunny people running around, and I'm looking at the cover of the magazine wondering what sort of marketing moron thought that cover ("Hot news! Guild Wars campaigns cancelled!") would do anything other than piss me off, and suddenly it came to me like a bolt of lightning...
What month is this issue?

As a major fan of guild wars I support the idea of coming up with a new game and engine GW.
However I do hope that the GW staff puts into a strong consideration that amout of time and effort PVP players have put into to gain titles and rank.
The beggining post did indicate the psibility of moving over achievements to GW 2. PLEASE PLEASE ANET remember to think of the PVP players as you make this new game.

I wonder if anyone else is enjoying the general freaking out going on in this thread.
I also like how many people have sworn up and down that they're going to quit if they can't transfer their characters in full. That would be pretty funny, considering all of our characters are human, and GW2 is supposed to be taking place like hundreds of years in the future. You'll have to equip a Cane of +10 Walking just to keep up!
Come on, people! Yes, this is a massive change. It's also a massive change that's at least 2 years off. Who knows what it's going to be what by the time it gets here. Maybe it'll just be a bland grindy WoW clone. Maybe it'll be so awesome you'll wonder why you ever bothered playing that junk Guild Wars.
You don't know, I don't know, NO BODY KNOWS. Take a pill, get some sleep, and calm down. This is not the end of the world.
If you don't calm down, I'm only going to laugh at you. I may even point.

I'm sorry I didn't know World of War craft Invented MMOs
In fact I didn't know they invented books and mythology THEY EVEN INVENTED GAMES TOO AND Having lvls and an open world
By the way finally there removing the cap of 20 to please ignorant people who say " O guildwars that looks cool I play WoW whats the max lvl? 20...... wow that game sucks."Theyve already said they're going to try to keep pvp balanced gvg style ect.
Something I want to say to people who complain about the lvl cap is get over it and if you don't know that Anet will be smart about it , I suggest you get a reality check. Anet isn't stupid they know people will hate some things and some will love change. Thats life and another thing im happy they're making a new game finally something new with amazing content and gamplay for free. How do I know this...because I have faith in the company Arena net.
TigerWolf
It sounds really good. A way for the game to take on some radical changes and for the best without being tied down with the current chapter system and all of the other parts of GW1.
Cant wait until Beta.

Gaile said there never will be fees.
Before Nightfall was realeased, people started worrying about fees.

I fully trust Anet/Gaile in this. No monthly fees is a major reason why people buy these games, and keep playing them. Anet/Gaile never let me down in the past, I'm definately going to buy GW2, and hopefully I'm able to participate in the Beta, to make the game even greater.

Hmmm... raised level cap? Regardless of how they balance that (lvl 30 no different from lvl 100 or whatever), the thing that they can't balance is player mentality and human psychology. Won't be very long before we see messages like: "Forming group for "insert area", lvl 100+ only, no noobs." That statement becomes even more true depending on how difficult it will be to level in GW2. It may have no difference like how rank doesn't show how skilled a player really is, but it's not going to stop players from rubbing it in your face.
Oh well, as always, i'll reserve my comments for after i've seen the real product, but i'm not exactly liking what i'm seeing already. What i would love though is if the game engine got an upgrade so certain things are more useable *cough* aoe *cough*.

Also, is that 10+5 skills per class, or a broader ratio that favors newer classes to even them out a bit more?

Although i don't like that our characters can't be transferred to GW2 but i wanted to say this from long time ago..

I'm very worried about what i just read. I defininitly agree about the "bloated" feeling but i just worry that guild wars 2 is sounding like its too much like other games. In my opinion that has always been one of the best things guild wars had going for it.

So I'll just sit back and relax and see what Anet will present us with.
Till then i'll just have fun with Prophecies,Factions and Nightfall.

Happy with the idea of GW2.... However I spent a lot of hours on a soon to be worthless character.
I'm very interested in how this monument will turn out.
Painful Titles are the GMC/Ale-hound/ and lightbringer, that will soon be lost, pending monument..
I won't play wow, I've tried last month but it didn't take.

Seriously, I like new beginnings, it will feel fresh and I gathered from Gaile's words that veteran players won't be just "honoured" with a plaque in some shady tomb While I don't expect something that will yield some advantage over fresh players, something like Divine Aura is in GW would make me feel warm, especially if it's related somehow to my old character.
prism2525
Galie said that something in GW:EN will have an effect on GW2 (forgot what precisely). Also stop calling GW2 "WoW2" ffs, if WoW is the ONLY game of its kind, then i'll eat my headphones. Anyone ever heard of Silk Road? That can also be called a WoW clone then.
Games like GW that blast out in totally different ways don't come out often. Even if it becomes more WoW-looking, can u tell me how do you want to improve it whilst not getting a bit closer to WoW? Everyone (myself included) wouldn't dare for a second to complain that an auction house is bad b/c it's too "WoW-ish".
I don't mind having to restart from scratch (but I wanna my char names).
PS: Galie, I (like all ppl here, I guess) would like to sign up for the beta. Any talk about it yet?
