The definition of spamming is up to the Anet team to decide. I very much doubt you'll see bans of people using the trade channel. Even if it's retarded descriptions 3 times in a row. There is a filter that kicks in, and suppresses "spamming" automatically. No need for your interpretations. The bans you will see are the wackos that insist on "spamming" their wares in the local CHAT channel. Go have a cookie. |
Now you actually quoted my argument, and therfor I will repeat your quote again and highlight what is really important there:

The filter just doesn't work well, it should be more tightly controlled. Its like soul reaping that was exploited for 2 years, the filter is just not apt enough to control even small repetitions, because what is the use of saying three times the same thing, tell me? Please come with arguments, go eat cookies just isn't enough of an argument for me.
Tell me would you not be annoyed of everyone automatically repeated two times what they last said? It's just interfering with the messages of others by driving them of the screen, it is a-social and egoistic.
The fact that they dont have a bot filter in granite citadel doenst mean that bots are allowed, you shouldn't reverse measures taken by anet/ncsoft to deal with extreme excess of spam and use them as arguments. they are just means to deal with the worst situations. the EULA clearly stated that repetition is not allowed. The fact that small repetitions are still possible doenst mean it is not in conflict with the EULA.

Sooo....let me get this straight:
Arena-Net doesn't want us to make gold so they nerf the droprate.
Arena-Net wants us to sell gold items to people who have no gold so they buff the gold-item droprate.
Arena-Net decides to start dropping bans without warnings because people are trying to sell their buffed gold items to people with no gold.
I am now quite honestly confused about what Arena-Net wants from us. I know I never cared about trade or all channel in any of those cities, unless I was selling something(Which I now won't do for fear of a ban, at least until someone from A-net talks to us), and, like a previous poster said: those were the trade cities. If you want to talk to someone there, invite them to your party, or if there in you guild/alliance use that chat. But if you absolutely must use local, why pick a trade center anyway?

I'm torn. If you were using the general chat channel, you probably got what you deserve. People that try to sell stuff there are annoying. At the same rate, I certianly understand the frustrations involved in actually trying to sell stuff in this game. The trade channel is pathetic, and the party search is by no means a suitable replacement for a well planned auction system. In the end, Anet really needs to focus less on trying to ban people for breaking the rules and spend more of their efforts on a trade system that works well and people will actually want to use.

Hopefully this code doesn't discriminate against me that much, since I'm only spamming one line per district.

I totally agree on banning people spamming their WTS stuff for hours on an end though.

| I mean, cmon, 2 lines each city i attend on my way to kamadan can hardly justify a ban for spamming. |
I think it's a fair ban but the limit's waaay too high. I think whoever banned you either had a really bad hangover or was on their period. Or both...
I still kinda say that this is just another result of the lack of a better trade system. I mean the party search function only works for one-shot items but for those rare golds and colorfull greens that we've all come to know and love theres not enough room to type out what attracts our customers.
I mean my lil bro used to play this other Free MMO called Last Chaos. For buying/selling you we're able to open a sort of trading form that you can drag and drop items into, add a little price tag, and then go afk. It sounds pretty uneffective but it works for the most part but one improvement to this would be golden.
If you we're also able to search for the name of the item you were trying to buy. I have the upmost confidence that Anet can pull such a feat off. Sure they're busy but this would be the update of the ages.

Heres one, there was another that got locked for supposedly stirring up hate against A-net or something.

Ah wait, that one was closed too. Some sensitive mods there.
Anyway, I hope we see something by Arena-Net rather than this silence. Clear up some of the confusion maybe.

Gaile, perhaps a little usual hand waving and "We'll look into it, surely there's more to this" is in order? Or maybe an admittance that the support team is now actively banning spammers, or some new code was introduced. So yeah, either an "aye" or "nay" on this accusation.
