Map mods are quite helpful for cartographers, but in GWEN modding a map may significantly facilitate finding hidden passages, traps, treasures, etc...

As you can see near the opening of the mouth, the color gets a little nasty. Need to fix that up, and it should be good to go. I also want to make it shiny, but I'm having some trouble with that.

Before anyone asks, you CANT have a black one, it will just make the normally animated bit totally clear. You can dl these here

Yes I know.... I suck. But all I have is Windows Paint.

Trying to find a freeware that will let me turn parts of an image transparent so I can get the Inventory, Skills, Storage,, etc window backgrounds to be transparent. If anyone has any suggestions as to a good freeware that will do that please share your wisdom. Or feel free to hook us up with .tpf that will do so.

The GIMP can do transparency. But if you're talking about opacity (whether you can see through it), I'm not sure if it does that. It probably does.

Thats how you apply the mod....thats the good thing about this method, you dont mess with any guildwars files, you just run them through a mod that changes the outcome, so you cant really corrupt your gw.dat.(unless you do something stupid)

Nice Mods I might get back into the Modding business. I was in Modding on Halo for PC and it was alot of run. I have Truck loads of Ideas but i need to get used to the Software before those ideas can be emplated.

Can't seem to work the mods. I have them all in the guild wars folder, i run textmod, choose gw.exe, load the tpfs in package mode and hit run, but when I play none of the mods are showing up? Can some1 tell me what is wrong?

Yup the devs got no props with us doing some modding. However it is a 3th. part program so don't over use it, and u'll be fine .

I haven't done much modding so there are most likely a hundred reasons why a mod doesn't activate, but I found at least 2 while getting to know the whole texmod thing. It doesn't work with Guild Wars Multi-Instancer installed, and some mods may overwrite others (I accidentally loaded simultaneously the finished Auramod and an unfinished version, and for some reason the unfinished one took place before the other, so my mods didn't show up).

The manual says:
Packages on top of the list are loaded first. Change the package order to prioritize a package if it changes the same texture as another one.

you have to save with an alpha channel so it knows where to put the shine and how much, so try dxt3 or dxt5 which will include it.

I've tried running it with only one mod chosen which is the pvp mod or clear UI mods, when i run it brings up GW naturally but non of the mods have taken effect. How could i uninstall Multi-Instancer. If i do it won't delete my account will it? Also i only have the Exe. template and screen,out folder after using the mod, folders in my guild wars folder. Ain't i missing folders to access textures?

That is correct. They unbanned me and said "oops our fault" and that was pretty much it.

Forgive me in advance, I tried to search the thread and it was broken (typical). I am assuming that there is no command line execution for texmod? It's fairly lame to have to run it, select my executable and tpf file, and click run every time rather than turning it into a shortcut with parameters.

So...just wanted to make sure. can't be done, right?

So.. a week or so ago I posted a picture of a mod that changed the UI to look like it did in the beta stage of Guild Wars..

This is a small mod I made, all I did was give the water djinn the flames that the fire djinn have, this is about the extent of my modding abilities but I think it looks cool. I made it for my mini but it works on the full size ones too.

Dark Glass Beta 4 - Changes:
  • Party health bars now marked with lines instead of shading.
  • Equipped items section of inventory now in Dark Glass style.
  • Party health window fixed after 17/07/2007 update - PvE areas only.
  • Quest icons on maps and compass now in Dark Glass style, however not the final versions (I don't like how they turned out).
  • Files not used by the mod removed from the package.
  • Various buttons are now Dark Glass style when pressed.

Beta 5 will be the final beta. Party window in PvP areas will be fixed along with active drop-down menus and other unchanged interface items. New quest icons will be produced for the maps and compass and other small bugs will be fixed.
