PayPal Poll

You know Paypal doesn't have to be the only option. It can be one option. "Do you want to pay with a credit card or Paypal for this purchase?" Lots of sites do it. Given the option, I always use Paypal.
I disagree with the poster that says Paypal is not for big businesses. I think that Paypal should be part of the payment options repertoire for any business. It's not there for the business, but for the shopper. The charges are slightly higher yes, but then Paypal is doing all the international bank regulation stuff. At the moment PlayNC is doing this by having offices in different countries.
It will mean that Australians can buy things in dollars instead of pounds, (though I guess they would have to move to the American servers then) and that Portuguese people working in China can continue to use the European servers instead of learning to read Chinese.

Well with the numbers on the pole this would mean that:
sales would go up 29%
People will sell more with paypall then credit card
Numbers are made on pole only.
Still think it would be best that you can also use paypall for the shop.
Me myselfe dont have a credit card and i dont want a creditcard. So paypall is best option. Its easy, safe and more profitable for Anet cause they not need to print more books and CD's

Well last time I've checked here... I'd actually need a credit card to even add money on my paypal (used to be different :s)
So there would be no difference at all for me... if I had a credit card I could buy it anyway already (and use paypal), but since I don't I can't do either

I wish i could see this poll thought the day, from the slow trickle of "no! No! No!2 during american times and then see how it swings when the rest of the world gt online....
I for one am looking for any way to pay though the store..options for me are rather limited

I make a lot of online purchases and I use a PayPal account for everything that allows you to.
Actually I just bought the Guild Wars GOTY using a relative's credit card because there is no PayPal option. I'm quite sure that if NCsoft adds the PayPal option to the Online Store that there will be a big turn out of purchases, heck, I know I would buy one of those Skill packs the moment it was available to me!

Yes,I would use PayPal since I don't have a CC.I would buy more stuff because it would take directly my money in my bank account and not in a friend one and having to pay him after....
Bazompora
Makes me wonder ... can't those NCSoft Time Cards (if I got the name correct), which are sold in major retail stores, be turned into credits for the Guild Wars Shop?

Paypal has changed a bit for us in europe, you dont need an CC card anymore, paypal can now be linked directly to your bank account, which means that if you buy something through paypal, your banks receives and automatic purchase receipt, and will withdraw the money directly from the account to the designated seller.
Atleast thats how i understand it, and with this news i want PAYPAL immidiatly into the gw store, cause damn i want that mission pack!!.
Cheers

I definitely would use my paypal since I have a credit card but I prefer to only use it for large purchases. I use Paypal for all of my online shopping and would even pre-order and purchase GWEN if that option becomes available.
grievous jedihunter
I would not use paypal because i dont have a credit card nor do i have a checking account. what would be awesome would be gift cards for the store like wii points or the xbox market place points.

I voted "No, I would not use PayPal" I do have a PayPal account, but prefer to use my credit card when dealing with reputable (sp?) sources, and I feel that PlayNC is reputable.

The reason i would Much prefer paypal is that i sell / buy things lots of times Via my paypal account. Thus the funds go directly to my paypal account . Now if i want to purchase from GW I am forced to transfer funds to my check card/ debit card / credit card , then wait three days to clear then i can purchase . Where as if paypal was allowed as an alternate option I would be more inclined to purchase Immediatly. Say for example a new char slot because right now i have around $ 18 un accounted for in my paypal account .
So would i Prefer paypal , yes
Would it be more convienient for me , yes
Will i still Buy from ANET without pay pal, Probably
Have i ever purchased from you online , No ... Why , bc you dont take paypal ...
hope that helps

No, I would not use PayPal. (Please explain)
While I do think Paypal should be an option for those who can't/don't want to use credit cards, personally I'd keep using mine as I have at the in game store. I do very much think there should be another option like Paypal for those who don't have a cc or live in countries where they aren't as prevelant.

I would not use paypal.
Explain:
I prefer to use my credit card directly over my paypal account when possible.
In making this poll, it should be noted that there are many <18 yr old players that would rather use their paypal account (most likely linked to their parents credit card) which could cause a problem with the results.

I suppose I could use PayPal, (I have before) but using a credit card is fine with me.

"the vast majority of those who use PayPal have a credit card and therefore could use that to make a purchase"
voted no.
i don't like to have intermediaries when handling my money. not like i don't trust paypal, but i prefer to simply use a credit card directly.
however, this isn't entirely fair to those without a credit card. the option to use it would be beneficial to those who need that option.

I have a credit card, but it's usually maxed. I prefer to do e-transfers directly from my account to the seller. It doesn't have to be Paypal per-se, but it would be nice to purchase on-line without having to use a CC.
pigdestroyer
I'd rather use my credit card.
Shiro Katagari
Voted no (rather use my card)
It's not that I don't particularly trust PayPal or anything, just that there will be additional costs involved and (for me) it links into my card anyway, so it's a pointless and inefficient step.

I wouldn't use it simply because a credit card is much easier. However, I'm sure for many people it would be nice to have.

It would really help if we could pay via sending the money to you all or a check, would be better than paypal imo.
natuxatu
Well from A.Nets point of view.. the more options the better as far as I can see.

PayPal takes too much off of what you make (from talks with a game dev/manager). I've also known too many friends who've gotten "hacked". I don't know if it was a weak password or not; it's still not good. One of them had so much spent off of their acct and plunged him so far into debt that he never (few years by now) recovered from it.

No, I would not use PayPal. (Please explain):
Simply do a google search to find no less than 3 sites on the first page of results that warn about paypal horror stories. I've always heard bad things about paypal.

I have Credit card i don't trust paypal, anymore once they said they refunded me but my bank has no account of that operation.
Railin
I've been using paypal for a while since I don't have a credit card. There's nothing bad about it.
I don't see the point of this poll, people with credit cards will vote no because they can use that, but imo people with credit cards shouldn't be in this topic since it's another option, it's not like Anet will remove the option to pay with a credit card, just add another option for people WITHOUT one to pay.

I like Google Checkout because sometimes they have promotions for certain vendors like $10 off every purchase of $30 or more. Last winter they had a promotion that was $30 off every purchase of $50 or more, god that was hawt.
For this game's online store I think it would be easier to just use a cc, but I'm not buying anything from them. UNLESS, they begin to run a promotion similar to GC, then I'd be all over it. I prefer to get rewards in the form of discounts than unlocking bonus PvE content, but that's just me.

I can use my credit card, don't see now reason to use again another system next to the ones that suit fine.

no reason to resurrect this long dead thread..
paypal would've been a solution for many european players to use the ingame shop, since credit cards are exotic in debit card dominated continental europe.. (and paypal doesn't require a credit card!)
as a short term solution to quiet down the protesting masses, anet/ncsoft expanded the bonus mission promotion to the plaync.com store which offers "paysafecards" as a payment option. paysafecards are available in 7(?) euro countries.
additional payment options for the ingame store would've been nice since plaync.com doesn't have char slots or goty weapons for sale
now let this thread die again please..

I wouldnt use it, my creditcard works fine for purchuases so i would continue to use that.

I really don't get it. In the netherlands Credit cards are not mainstream, and never will be. Every store you pay we use the PIN system, and CHIP for small money amounts.
I Really would like to see that anet gives us an alternative to paying with a cc. They were doing research into paying by SMS. No I don't have a cc, because I don't need to have one. And no I won't get one, pay extra money a year to have one, just to make a purchase from the Guildwars Store.
Gaile, or Patrick any new news on this?
Until we have an alternative we should keep this thread alive. Because any other thread is modded in to the q & a section >.>
