Who here uses PvX WiKi builds?

I use it. Mainly for when I'm doing something for the first time. I've been using the UW R/Me farming build from PvX wiki and haven't found any reason to change it yet. I rarely use those builds for heroes. Not even the classic MM(aka idiot proof) builds. Master of Whispers pwns with Jagged Bones. I've found that putting the same build on heroes of the same class often has different outcomes and so just grabbing a build from wiki doesn't make any logical sense.
willypiggy
I use it a lot, Heros, HA, Hero Battles, Farming etc. However most of the builds I make changes to. I use them as templates to help me plan a team on teambuilder and such.

otherwise, skakid, edru, and grinch keep us from all posting w/mos and becoming megafarmers.

I go there for ideas.
I'm not very good at making builds.... but I'm damn good at tweaking them
so i go to pvx for some cookie cutter builds to tweak with

Auron and myself looked at a couple of GvG builds where ppl had rated the thing, and we doubted if 90% of them had ever even PLAYED a GvG match.. |
and thats the pvp section.
i dont think even the sysops have the courage to look at non featured pve builds. (http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/User_tal...ting_Complaint)

I never use wiki builds, but I'm sure 90% of all the builds I use, are on pvxwiki.

I just want to say this not an insult to those who run and operate PvXWiki Builds .It is a good place to do research and gather information.

Only time I look them up is when I want to 55. I 55 so infrequently that between each time a couple of skills get changed significantly enough that I get wiped quickly. I wonder why, then check the skill description and the game updates. Then I see. So to save a lot of grief over trying to figure out which skills got changed, I just look that up. Everything else, though, I do on my own. Seriously, who need a wiki to teach them how to make a SF ele? I was doing that way before it was a big deal. How could you NOT see how powerful that was?

My opinions, as a sysop(User:Edru viransu) there, of PvXwiki:
That was short, but I don't really have time to say much more.
- The majority of contributors are horribly bad. This means that when the sysops aren't being sufficiently bitchy about removing bad votes and builds, the wiki sucks.
- PvXwiki's quality is far less than what it should be, although it is slowly improving.
- People overestimate the baedness of PvX and are often misinformed about it.
That was short, but I don't really have time to say much more.

I use PvX wiki builds as fundamentally tested ideas and then change them to something that works for me.
I recently took the new bunny thumper build. Except well, I have like Res in that build. So, I am now using the bunnythumper stance tank with no stances and none of the skills listed.
So, see - I do use PvX wiki builds.

The thing I most use is their link system for skillbars. Can be used in other pages.

Just don't use them :P
maximus92
I use it for my heros. For my character's build, I usually come here to the Campfire to look for advice on builds. I've used the Dervish build guide extensively, and it has worked out well.

pvxwiki's pve section is major lol, a pve builds section is major fail. otherwise, we have a few meta builds documented and shitty team builds all around
Desires
I go there only to laugh at the sheer amount of fail.
silv3rr
I'm sure most of the people that have claimed they don't visit that site all the time
I for one use it all the time for my heroes for general builds that I can just load up on them when questing... but when I hit a mission where I find I failed miserable, then I think about what went wrong and change up the builds skill by skill... and if that's still fails, I load up info on what it is I'm doing to see what I'm up against.
I usually run with garbage builds at first... not even wiki builds, just garbage builds until I hit level 20... wiki builds usually don't run on non-level 20s that well 'cause of the stat distribution and all... that way I can get a feel of how the class works then start creating builds. If they turn out to be crap, I'll take a look around PvX for inspiration.
And honestly, most of the time, the builds I do come up with, there are similar crap on PvX... especially for my assassin. Crit Agi + Crit Def + Moebius + DB... fill in the rest.
In terms of PvP, I usually run my own builds, people almost expect to run into wiki builds so they build according to those, so it's easy to counter.
The ones (not all but most...) that say they come here for help makes me laugh... "NEED GOOD X/X BUILD"

BLOODGOAT
I use the farming builds but that's about it. Y'know, 600/Smite, 55/SS, duos/trios, but when it comes down to actual PvE play, I can't stand playing any of the builds they have.
You can't see me
I use a fair of their builds and find them effective. Flame me for using builds that have been proven effective by a group of experienced testers, that are 0% Fail, if you use the good and great working ones.
My Favorites:

~PvP Team- E Denial Balenced

I sometimes go there and generally look for new ideas and inspiration. Most of the time, though, I try to come up with good build ideas with good synergy on my own.

Once in a while I'll grab a farming build from Wiki. For general play, I use a lot of builds that others use as well, so I'm quite sure they're on Wiki in one variation or another. I guess I don't see where the stigma about PvX comes from... I've been playing nearly since launch--I know the game and I know my professions. I'm not going to lose sleep because something I use might appear on wiki someday.

I use it as inspiration, then go and make my own. But pretty useful overall I'd say

This is why I fail to see why Wiki has such a stigma to it. There's plenty of garbage there, but pretty much the best builds of the current meta are likely to end up there as well. I use that Cripshot build too, though I didn't need PvX to show it to me.
Earth
I admit: I use it. But only to get a feel of the class if I'm still new to it - After that, never again.
Swift Thief
About 1/3 of my builds come from there.

For the most part, it's a gigantic e-peen-waving scrubfest.

meh.
i very rarely use it,and usually if i want a certain build and not pvx it,i turn to observe and learn more about that pvp style at the same time.
so i'll say research
but saying alot of wiki builds suck and usually if theyre half decent its being used on observe, why would you need it anyway?
cripshot is already a base bar you would know of and is fairly easy to imagine up anyway.
SP is also the same as cripshot.
as is burning arrow.
with a long stream of the same reasons.

They seem to have a lot of super old HA ideas recycled into other things. It may work but I find in practice builds there are often terribly lacking in fine tuning.

Farming builds section.
Looked at hero's once for Zenmai, when I first got her >.> cus I was going Why does she suck?
so the answer.
Specifically for farming.

double faction weekend... if i want to get the most out of it then i dont want to just play one or two builds i made myself, over and over again. i borrowed a few nice wiki builds, added a few personal touches to them and jumped straight back into AB with minimal testing required.
also some of the builds i kind of came up with on my own had very similar variations posted on the wiki, like the conjure cripslash is allmost exactly the same as a ab warrior build i use apart from 1 skill and different attribute points.... completely by accident lol.

Perkunas
The first time I played a class, I would go to Wiki to see what type of skills are used in different situations. Less time needed for trial and error. Wiki gives a good starting point.
ravensong
Only for heroes If I dont have character of that profession.
