Profession options

I don't know how do I begin exposing my opinion on this. Let me try.

I agree that having this many profession choices is great. I am kinda new to Factions and Nightfall and every day I find amazing things about the new professions, really. What I am asking here (I know there is zero chance to be heard by ANet, though) is to ANet allow all classes to be available right in the first campaign of Guild Wars 2. I understand there will be races in GW2, so having new races on the new campaigns would be awesome, but please, please no new professions.

Guild Wars is a much more tactics based MMORPG than any other available. Balance, team work, strategy are key to the game. When you add new professions to the equation you may ruin all that balance. I know players can improve over time, but I find it amazing how easier it is for me to walk around Southern Shiverpeaks with professions and skills from the new campaigns. Probably because they didn't exist when that area was created.

I don't think ANet needs new professions to raise interest and sell new campaings. Honestly speaking, did Eye of The North fail on sales? I believe there are other things that could help selling new campaigns (skills! skills! skills!) such as new areas, new items, new "attractions" (missions, hardcore areas, AB and Hero Arena like PvPs, and others), new skills (skills! skills! skills! both for the existing professions and title-related skills), new titles, of course and many more.

I hate to compare Guild Wars with other MMOs because I like to think it is different. But take Lineage 2 and WoW, for example. None of them added new professions (or classes) to their respective expansions and they still sold pretty well.

As I said, I don't think having 10 (more or less) professions right from the start would hurt Guild Wars. Much on the contrary, it would help since people will get the feeling they have many choices to play with. It may also help spread profession distribution (for example, if I want to play melee damage I will have three professions to choose from, if I want to play ranged damage I have another three options, if I want to play support I have another three different options and so on).

Well, I don't know if this is a good idea. Maybe most people here don't agree with me. But I felt like sharing with you. Thank you.

I have a simple Idea.
We all know the level cap in guild wars, but not guild wars 2.
And many people that I know of don't want Guild Wars 2 to have a very high level cap that is similar to WoW's, or Runescape, or the "No level cap at all" Idea.
I think that a game is idiotic if you have to spend so much time leveling instead of just playing the game.
The level 20 level cap right now is perfect as it is, for it allows you to get the max level in a short amount of times so you can actually play and enjoy the game, instead of worrying about how long it's going to take to get to then next level.
That's why I think that the level cap in GW2 should stay at 20, or at least go up to 25 or 30.
I really hope they don't make it at some ridiculously high level.

It seems like the game could do with about a six hour day and night cycle. It would add a nice element of realism to the game. And if this happens, perhaps make it an interesting night’s sky with unique constellations.

And the seasons are already established with Wintersday and other lore. It would be nice if during the spring, everything would be nice and green with little flowers, during summers everything would kind of get … summery (Not sure how to describe it, but I bet you know what I mean; faded colors, more sunlight…). In autumn, the leaf textures for the deciduous areas would change to a nice Pre-Sear Ascalonian orange, gold, and red, and during winter the leaves would go away. It seems all that would be required would be new textures loaded up every 3 months or so for various leaves and ground debris.

And Weather. Please add rain and snow depending on altitude and seasons.
Your other points seemed pretty good, but I have a slight problem with this. The seasons/weather is fine, but the day and night thing, in my opinion needs change. What I had a problem with was the length of your idea.

I'm unsure whether you meant 6 hour cycle as in 'Six hour day, six hour night' or 'Three hour day, three hour night', but either way I think it needs to be shortened. I'm pulling my add on from Everquest 2, the only other MMO I spent any real amount of time on. EQ2 has a day and night cycle, but it's short. If I remember correctly, it's about 45 minutes total. It's a decent length. I don't want to spend most of my game time playing in a night setting. It bugs me.

So, a day and night cycle would be nice. But I'd want it to be only an hourly cycle.

Also, and I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I have ideas for appearance. These are also pulled from EQ2's system.

All right, I'm a broke bastard, and I don't want to take time to farm for my money. On my mains I have good armor. It's max, runed, and insignia-ed. But I have second thoughts on its appearance. So, for the cheap people out there, who can't afford a new set of armor, runes, and insignias, I promote the 'Appearance Slot' idea. Maybe at level 10 or 20, you'd get a new tab in your inventory for appearance armor. So, if I wanted Ascalon/Charr Hide armor for my warrior (in GW1), instead of paying 5k+, I could go to Ascalon and pay 100g or so.

Or, there could be an Appearance Slot Armor Merchant. This merchant could sell all your favorite common armor for half the price. It could only go in your appearance slot and could not offer and protection and could not be upgraded. So, in GW1, for example, the appearance merchant might sell Plate armor for 2.5k, half the price of crafting it. If some people aren't satisfied with the price, I suggest simply making it the price of the crafting. So, 5k for Plate. It cuts some of the cost for those of us who lack the materials to craft.

My final suggestion is a 'hairstylist'. This has probably been suggested, but...

For people who get uncomfortable with their character's appearance, they can get it changed for a price. They could change their hair, height, face, and anything else, except gender. I'd imagine it costing about 5k, maybe 10k.

Just my two cents. I'd love to see these put in.

Also, remembered one more thing...

Stances, and attacks.
Stances should be stances, meaning, visually identifiable.
Now, if you use as much skills as stances as now, you cannot create an animation for each one of them.
Therefore, I propose making ~5-10 different stances, based on their type.
Be that +speed like dash, +attack speed like frenzy, +defense, or whatever else may come to your mind.

Second thing. Attacks seem too much like spells, even though they are, in fact, generic attack enhancers.
Adding 2 things would greatly improve the feel (imo):
- Each attack skill (almost) has its unique attack animation. Yes, you heard me.
- Some attacks have a "casting time". However, while "casting" your attack, you do nothing, and when it finishes, it plays the generic attack animation.
A part of the animation should be in the casting time part. Meaning, if an animation looks like bringing your sword over your head, and doing an overhead cut, the part when you bring your sword up should be in the casting time part.

Some Guildwars 2 Suggestions
  • Level Cap
Please make it nice and high like level 100! Also make it easy to level up like putting in lots of mini-games that give you lots of experience like the brawling mini-game in Guildwars: Eye of the North.
  • Graphics
One of the most reasons Guildwars has been successful is because of its beautiful graphics. I hope that Guildwars 2 will look tottaly like a different game because graphics has dramatically improved since the original guildwars.
  • Improved Visual Animations
To me the animations in guildwars are very not well done. If you have seen the Guildwars Prophecies Cinematic you see Cynn Jump up in the air with Awesome Blue/Mystical Colours Appear around her and then flaming fire rains from the sky smashing into the ground. In Guildwars firestorm is just a red/orange line hitting the ground and disappearing. It really doesn’t look nice. In Guildwars 2 they should add nice big effects grabbing peoples attention and making the players say WOW that looks awesome!
  • Casters Desired Location
Let Elementalists choose where they can cast their spells for example: You click on Firestorm to activate it...the Character then starts its 2sec cast, while they are casting you then click on the ground where you want it to be casted and once the 2sec cast has been completed it will then take effect at your desired location. If you fail to click at a location within the cast time then it will target in the most relevant place. These types of spells should be only for skills like Fire Storm, Savannah Heat etc.
  • Destructible Environments
Make things in the environment break just like they would in real life. For Example - 10 people are jumping on a rope bridge cause it to jiggle about. Finally the rope bridge cannot support them so it snaps off and the 10 people fall and get hurt or even die. This causes people from travelling to the other side of the rope bridge but a group of Npc's come along to repair the bridge, you then help them by gathering supplies or protecting them for monsters etc.
And in World PvP make the castles destructible so that sieges can slowly break down through the enemies base wall.
  • Fishing/Mining/Crafting/Woodcutting etc
The problem with guildwars is that it’s always Kill, kill, kill and suddenly you get tired of killing monsters. That’s why when you’re bored of killing and want to relax or do something other than killing we should be able to stuff like fishing, mining, crafting, and woodcutting. Here are some examples on how they work:

-Fishing can be done everywhere but where you fish can effect what you catch. But also these go towards your Fishing Title. Each title your rank up you can get new equipment for fishing to catch better fish. Fish can then be cooked and depending on the type of fish it will remove a certain amount of death penalty.
-Also Woodcutting could be used for helping Npcs Repair Buildings that have been damaged or to save up for a town siege. Woodcutting also should have title and each time you rank up you can cut down different types of trees and get better cutting equipment.
  • An In Game Clock
Guildwars has lots of events that happen often but sometimes players get confused of what time they are referring to. To fix this issue Guildwars 2 should have an in-game clock. They should name it GMT = Guildwars Mean Time. All events scheduled then are referred to the Guildwars Time so players don’t have to waste time to figure out what time it is in their country.
  • Guildwars 2 Mounts
Who says Mounts are only for traveling in guildwars? Of Course Map Travel is way better than mounts but in Guildwars 2 they would be a faster way to explore areas and to run out of battle without returning to an outpost. Also in Guildwars 2 It would be really really really really awesome if you could fight while on your mount. Like swinging your sword while you ride past them. It would Also be nice if more than one player could ride the mount so that one can control where they are going and the other focuses on attacking with spells. The Norn should be allowed to turn into their own mount but also allowing another person to ride them and while in combat the norn mount will also attack, same with the player riding them. Also Flying mounts to explore the highlands of tyria and water mounts to explore then unexplored sea.
  • Underwater/Sky Citys
Make use of the Z-axis world and make players use it to the max. Allow players to discover underwater worlds where strange creatures live. Allow them to fly up into the sky into flying lands of the unknown. Make guildwars players explore the whole world from the sea to the sky like there something new to find everyday!
  • Actual Cities
Nice Big Cities that have nice brick walls, big tall towers etc. And lots of Npcs (a crowd) walk around looking around for stuff just like real players.
  • Better Audio
Add Voice Emotes/While in combat when a warrior uses a shout you can actually hear it. Town Bells ringing, the ambience of a crowd while in town etc.
  • Better Looking Weapons/Armour
Most of the Guildwars Weapons aren't that nice but i would like to see more of animated weapons like the Volatic Spear and awesome skins like the ones in BMP. It would also be nice to see some animated armour like Flames coming out of the sholder pads/glowing orbs etc.

They are just some fo the few ideas i have. If they are or aren't in Guildwars 2 im sure arenanet will have some better idea and will create a MMORPG unlike any other

Customizable Battle Stance
-Woulnd't it be Nice if GW, would let you pick you Battle Stance.
Instead of the Hack'n'Slash Movement, would you want to be in Fencing Position^ ^.
Or unlike of Holding you'r Hammer like a Warrior you can pick if you wanna drag your Hammer, like Paragons or Ritualists^ ^.
Lastly wouldn't it be nice if we could Wield hor Weapons at the back of our Hands, to give that Roguish Feel, like the Tengu^ ^.

And more Stances, not just 1 or 2, why not 4-5, for each type of Weaponry?
It may add more work, but do it for you Fans and for you Masterpiece^ ^.

What? You're saying that GW is not beautiful enough? Of course there are improvements in technology, specially in the shader area (that would allow for better lightning effects, for example). But GW is awesome the way it is today. It needs very little improvements, IMHO.

Fishing/Mining/Crafting/Woodcutting etc

Well, I don't quite agree with that. I don't think that's related to what Guild Wars is. If you want to do something different you could play mini-games, like Polymock (and maybe others, that might be introduced on GW2). And if you really want to do something different than killing/exploring then you should do outdoors.

As for the rest I agree with weather/environment effects (random rain, snow, sand storm, haze; day and night, etc). Dual wielding (two swords, two axes, for example).

And I really don't care about mounting, I think it is great the way it is now. But if they make mountables I wouldn't mind.

I think Fishing/Woodcutting/Mining is a Nice Addition^ ^.
You know when you just feel, you like to see the Nice Scenery and talk to you freinds^ ^.
This is the time good for that^ ^.

So instead of just staying in Guild Halls or in Towns to have a Conversation with you Friends^ ^.
You can go fishing, So while you'r making Jokes to eachother, you also gain EXP and Money while fishing^ ^.

It is a Fun Form of Farming, You get it all to yourself^ ^.
With Fishing/Woodcutting/Mining it is as good as Solo Farming^ ^.
So you won't need Fancy Builds just to get Money^ ^.

Anyways, Guild Wars2 would make Soloing more Possible^ ^.

1. Make the world one seamless environment (I think that's already going to happen, though)
2. Make a roleplaying server. I know a lot of people don't enjoy roleplaying, but a roleplaying server would be one of those places where the people who enjoy the game more for more than the fact it's a fun game. I like to create my own stories around the game. And people are generally more mature on roleplaying servers, as they are enjoying the beauty of the game more than the game of the game.
3. Include a lot of areas like pre-ascalon and GWEN. Pre-ascalon, for example, is very relaxing and peaceful and i just have this weird, happy feeling while I'm there
4. Seperate the characters on a person's account. It's helpful at times, like storage, but all it really does is make it kind of cheap. Also, give lvl reqs to weps/armor.

2. Would be interesting.
3. Uhh... this is 250 years in the future of GW1, how is it possible to go to pre-searing ascalon, which is basically 257 years before GW2, as GW2 is 250 years after EN, which is 7 years after the searing. And if you just like Pre-Searing Ascalon because it was green, it will be green in GW2 . And as for the EN areas, I think they will all be added, as dragons awake in some of those areas.
4. lvl req, sure, separate characters even more? pass, what if you get a weapon that would be very very helpful to another character? You'd want to put it on that other character.

All I have to ask is:

What aspects of GW1 can be expected to carry over?

If GW2 is 80%+ vastly different than what GW1 is, you can have my vote for not getting it. I like gradual change, not massive "change or go play something else" influence.

Oh woops I didnt mean "Like pre-ascalon" as if though i wanted pre-ascalon in it. I meant "like pre-ascalon" like "look like" pre ascalon. And you answered my request by saying it was green

And a few minutes after posting about jumping i read we'll be able to jump. I dont know how to delete posts, though

Here are two more ideas:
1. Make guild halls expanding. As you start your guild hall, it is small, but as you win battles and gain reputation your guild hall grows. You would feel a real owndership over the guild hall and it would be more worth fighting for (for me, at least). Maybe the ability to name the guild hall as well, if it is to evolve into it's own small town. And of course, the hall growing larger wouldn't make it any stronger than the other guild hall. It's only for looks and pride
2. all this talk about other things made me forgot idea number 2. Ill remember it in a minute, though

EDIT: I remember now. I want go-insideable buildings

i have read that for gw2 anet will not be using point and click for movement, personally i think it would degrade the playability of the game and my enjoyment of it. i find because my fingers tire out and ache more quickly and become uncomfortable i tend to play keyboard controlled games less. im sure many other people have the same problems and would at least benefit from having the option to use point and click. lack of point and click will make me have to think seriously about purchasing gw2.

cool=hard to me, making them average monsters in toughness is fine, especially in NM, my sin can take on anything thats not in the end-game part with just heroes *no henchies* so its not a problem for me. I suggest you try to think a little harder before coming up with ideas, all of the ideas I've seen you come up with just suck and/or have no backup. No offense.

i'd also like a boat, traveling down a river in a boat and maybe fishing would be fun with those fisherman hat's

and a way to get food delivered to you in real life, so if i typed in at the marketplace in guild wars 2 i saw some banana fruit i like, i click on the banana fruit and then type /sellme a page with credit card enter info comes up i enter that and they mail me some of the banana food in the game so i can eat it in real life making the game even more real

I have encountered an issue in Guild Wars that I feel needs revising. Please take this email into consideration at your earliest convenience.

I had recently purchased an Elite Kurzick Helm for my Warrior, with a full set as my goal. Elite Kurzick armor, as you well know, is extremely expensive. I kept the helm in my inventory to wear when I wished.

However, just today I was salvaging items in my inventory with a Superior Salvage Kit. Please remember how easy it is to "misfire" when aiming for items to salvage (i.e. aiming for one item and salvaging the one next to it). As you may have predicted, my Superior Salvage Kit cursor hit my Elite Kurzick Helm. To my surprise, the helm instantly disintegrated into a measly 3 Amber Chunks without any warning whatsoever.

I was startled that a 15k piece of armor had no warning indication (or anything of the sort) before salvage. I have lost 15k, 10 Amber Chunks, 50 Iron Ingots, and 5 Steel Ingots; a high price to pay for three Amber Chunks. Also, please remember that "misfiring" is quite common.

I highly recommend that the next update include a simple warning sign (an "Are you sure?" window will do perfectly) before salvaging a piece of armor. My character will take quite some time to recover from this expensive loss, and I am sure that this is not the first time this issue was found.

(This is a copy of a formal letter sent to GW Support by me.)

I'm kinda wondering why Anet has given up with real live events for guild wars the last event was cool even though i wasn't admitted(under 18) i saw alot of videos and it got alot of people to start playing guild wars.

so im wondering if its ok for me to suggest a few events NCsoft can host for there titles.

guildcon:The sights, sounds, impressions, and overall experiences resonating throughout the halls of the Convention Center combined to create an event of tremendous excitement, camaraderie, and fun for the guildcon attendees, including all of us at ArenaNet and NCsoft. Between the entertaining and informative developer panels, the chance to play upcoming expansions and the newly announced expansions, the fast-paced tournament gaming, the imaginative live contest entrants, and the closing-night performances, guildcon can prove to be an all-around good time for any NCsoft-gaming enthusiast.

annual arena tournaments:combatants around the world to enter the new guild wars 2 Arena Tournament. Your glorious victories in the tournament will not only grant recognition and renown for your prowess, but they'll earn your team a chance to win cash prizes as well.

guild wars 2 comic contest: where artist go show off their work in monthly contest for fame and glory.

world wide NCsoft invitational:
The Worldwide Invitational is a two-day event bringing together the company and gamers in a convention atmosphere, featuring:

* A chance to try upcoming guild wars II expansions and products.
* Discussion panels with ArenaNet and NCsoft developers
* Artist and developer signings
* Competitive and casual player tournaments
* Costume, dance and other player contests with great prizes
* Live musical performances
* Merchandise; a silent auction; and much more...

im really hoping guild wars 2 will have all these live events and probably more and i hope that they let minors in.

There has always been warning signs that I have notice, at least when you have a rune on your armor you should of gotten one, and now they do have a warning sign, so this issue is taken care of, the only time there are not any warning signs is when you use a basic salvage kit, where it just goes to materials.

Please make it PVE > PVP this time around Anet. Seperate the two and the skills available in each, mainly so that any PVP nerfs do not have a knock on effect to PVE players.

PART 1
@Bishmality
You made a good list, lots of your points you listed I think so too about them.
******

GW2 will become a massive change to what GW1 is hopefully. When we start GW2 in the future, there the player should hopefully receive really the impression, that in this game blows a new kind of wind and that you will feel it from the begin on, that GW2 will be, like stated far more a traditional MMORPG, than GW1 was only a so called by Anet self COG/CORPG.
--------
  • Level Cap:
Like we all know, thta it will be alot higher, I'm at the oppinion, like Bishmality, that it should be Max Level 100. This is just the traditional max lvl for RPG's and its good so, because a max level of 100 will provide the gamer a much better long term motivation, than 20, especially when the system around the Experience Points is hopefully well balanced and that it won't be possible to reach level 100 in 1 Day, nor 1 Week. No, it should be paced at like 1-2 Months of normal playing. I emphasize especially "normal" - so I don't mean hardcore gaming, like 8+ hours daily playing and grinding (farming) creatures to reach max level as fast as possible. Hardcore Players should not get rewarded for extreme farming exp to reach quicker high levels, than casual gamers...
  • Attributes/ Attribute Points:
Hopefully will receive all Professions some serious tweaks and professions in GW2 should have all more Attributes, than only 4 to 5. Every Profession should have like 6-7 Attributes. This could enable Professions than also to have more than only 1 Weapon Type or Fighting Style. Its easy to give all Professions in the game more attributs, theres so much potential, Anet has left out.
Also I hope in GW2, that Players should receive "unendless" Attribute Points, each Level Up should give the Player some Attribute Points, some Quests or Missions should also reward you with Attribute Points, so that the result will be in the end, that if you want to get them, that it will be possible for PVE!! to get all your Attributes maxed !!! The Limitation on the amount of Skills you can take with you is balancing enough.
Where is the sense in having characters with like 7-8 Attributes, when the player is then only able to max 2 of them? Maxing al attributes would allow the player to create much better variations of Skill Builds and to create better Synergies between the attributes of your Profession you play. Balancing is all about Skills and not about, how much attributes you can max!!!
--------
  • Status Values:
Hopefully will be the Character System improved by implemented traditional Status Values. With Status values it is much easier for players to see the progress of your Character's evolution.
With it you see much better, where the strengths and weaknesses lie in your Character. is for example the defense of your Character to weak, than that means, that you have to rise your Vitality Value of your character more. Status Valus are an essential part of Character Builds, which make characters more unique and INDIVIDUAL. Because only someone uses the same skills, doesn't mean, that the character uses them better, than yours, because of maybe an other Status Setting. The Stats of your oppnent could be setted maybe more stronger on Magic Defense, than Magic Offense, while your setting is vice versa. This is exactly the point, which would make characters more individual and it gives the game a better feeling of traditional RPG Flair and some long term motivation, when you can see step by step, how your character becomes stronger and stronger. Its this nice feeling of, as if you play a simulation like Sim City and you see over time, how your city grows, but here in GW the city is just your Character ^^
-------
  • Skill Training & Learning:
ANet stated, that GW2's Skill System will be much different from that of GW1. The Skills will work differently with other new effects, than we know them from GW1. I find, this is a good decision. Skills for GW2 simple need alot more depth, and there should be alot more Skills, which players should be able to use in the persistent world interactively. The first interactively Core Skills anyone could think of would be the simple interactive moves, we will get in GW2. Becoming able to jump, swim, climb, creep, fly?, a better difference between sly, go, run and sprint hopefully implementing perseverance system to the game and a breath system for diving. But also Skils will become in the persistent world to use, whenever you want. Characters becoming able to swing their weapons, whenever they want and not only, when foes are targeted. This will enable us ,as to to use skills more actively and interactively with the environment.
Imagine a fallen tree lies and the road and it blocks the way for you, then you have to find out a way, how to ged rid of it.
As Ele it is easy, you just use some Fire Spells at the location of the Tree and burn it away, as Warrior you would cut it into pieces with your axe or sword, but that would take more time and when you don't want to hack & slash for long time, ten the Warrior has to search for some helpful material to create at the tree a fire ^^ That is interactive working with the environment. Or like mentioned before with the bridge and the rope, bridge gets destroyed and needs to be repaired.

However, that was not the original point, which i wanted to point out with this list point. I think combat skills ect. should come in also with "Levels"
These Levels should be some extra slightly bonus power boosts beneath the system of increasign Skill Power through raing Attributes.
These levels of skills should be maxed at 3 and the whole thign should be based on the simple fact, that no one can use skills like Fireballs from the start on "perfect" Characters hsould have to gain first experience in the usage of skills, to perform them one day perfectly
Level 1 is the Core Stage of Skills, when you reach Level 2 of a Skill, then you have mastered it's usage and when you reach Level 3, then your characters is a true elitist in using the Skill, that reached Level 3. Say, every additional Level, so level 2 and 3 will add 10% more Power bonus to Skills.
This system will reward then players, hwich play for long time with older skills and don't swap instantly to every new implemented stuff, only because its strogner or more interestign than older Skills. Also it will give the game a better RPG Flair and for PvP will be all skills then so or boosted to Level 3, to keep pvp balanced.

    Example:

Fireball Lvl 1 would do with maxed Fire Attribute 100 Damage, with Lvl 2 then it would be 110 Damage and with Lvl 3 it would be 120 Damage.
To reach Fireball Lvl 2 a player's character would have to use the Fireball Skill
in battle 5000 times. To reach Lvl 3, the player's character would have to use Fireball Lvl 2 in battle 10000 times. I find, this would be a very nice Skill improvement system that adds to the game also some passive long term motivation and the effect, that you can make your characters over time still stronger, when you reached still Level 100, after that you can still train then your favourite Skills to become elitist Experts in their usage, because never has fallen a master from the sky...characters should have to train their skills, to be able to get the best efficience out of them. Without training there are also no muscles, so I think its only logical to give the game such kind of Skill Level System.
The next point is the kind of how characters should learn new Skills.
GW2 should have many different ways, how to learn new Skills, hwich should be also from Profession to Profession DIFFERENT.

First of, every profession should learn their Core Skills through Leveling. WHenever you level up, at certain levels, for example every 10 levels should the character learn a new Profession Core Skill. This will ensure, that later all professions will have Core Skills and not only those, which GW2 had from begin on, but not later implemented professions.
This would mean, that all professions would receive 10 Core Skills through this.
After that players would have to search for other ways to learn new skills.
first off, there should be again Skills from Quests as rewards, like in GW1 Prophecies and this concept should STAY ever, it was one of GW's best concepts and Anet made a terrible retarded mistake with it, to remove this concept for Factions, Nightfall and mostly EotN, where only PvE only Skills were rewards, but not also the few new normal Skills EotN brought us >.<
Once characters have learned all Skills they can learn through ways, that aren't limited on your choose of profession, then come the Skills, that only specific professions can learn through specific ways.

Caster Classes for example should be able to learn new Skills through Magic Books (Tomes), by reading and studying them. So i meand with studying really it serious. players should not just click the books and et voila there you have your new Skill - NO !! There should be then a progess bar in a "Skills to Learn-List" for your Caster Class and you receive then a Quest in your Questlog, what will tell you, what you have to do, to study the Skill (Spell) you want to learn and so more things you fullfill of this quest, so more raises the % of the progress of learning your new skill. Reaches it 100%, then you finished studying your new skill and the character learns it Core Version lvl 1.

While this for Caster Classes, melee ones like Warriors would have to go on training to train their fight style and stats ect. For this a Warrior would need to learn new Skills a "Master", so a NPC will will teach you new Skills. Same way as casters once you get your Master, the master will give you quests that will show show, how you have to train your Character to learn new Skills.
But for Warriors it is different, a Warrior has to train specific Skills on specific levels first, to learn new Skills.

    Example:

To learn "Cross Cutter" a Sword Skill, you would have first to learn:
    Jump Attack lvl 2
    Spin Blade lvl 1 and
    Power Slash lvl 1

Once you reach these requirement's the warriors learns its new Skill "Cross Cutter"

Every Profession should simple have different ways to learn new Skills, to make them look more unique and different, than other professions.
To learn Core Skills and an amount of Skills, they have all the same possibilities for to learn them is god, but for the main amount of Skills should have all professions their specific unique kinds of how to learn them.
One through traing with master,s one to reading books, the other again through making private missions and working for guilds, the other through spiritual inspirements and talking to spirts, theother again talks with animals whatever, I'm sure that ANet can think of for all professions unique way how to learn new skills, other then buyign everothing for stupid npcs for 1 platin each >.<

Looks like, my posting is too long, or it can#t handles so much lis,t so I've to split it into more parts XD

PART 2:
  • The Environment:
Should becoem as said alot more interactive with the gamers, but also ALOT more filed hopefully with LIFE. The game needs alot more NPC's with move around, do somethign like fishing, mining or whatever or simple talk to each other. The game receives hopefully a Day/Night Cicle, which changes every 3 Hours for example. 3 Hours Day, 3 hours Night, ect. This way we have daily 4x Day and 4x Night, if this is not enough, then change to 2hours rhythm, then GW2 would have daily 6x Day and 6x Night.
Also the game needs like mentioned before its own INGAME TIME, so that players can organisate events on this time and it won't be irritating anymore about the time differences of the real world. The environment should be also then interactively based on the Day/Night Cicle, This means simple, that players should find ingame at Day other monsters and animals ect, than in the Night, where the night active creatures and animals come out. At night the game should then show really its dark and scary side, where you really have to expect like in a resident evil game at every moment the worst case scenario XD Also don't please make the game again for 12 years. Give the game the option to active Blood Mode !!! This way al0ne the game will be rated for 16 year olds and we can be sure, that GW2 will be filled with more mature people
    • Mounts:
Please give us Mounts, but not only as ugly useless gimmick like junundu Wurms or Siege Devourers. No, I want real Mounts, to own an own Mount, that i can use, whenever i want to explore with it freely then the persistant world to enjoy with it on a Solo Trip the Game World and especiaslly the travelling without getting annoyed through Monsters maybe. Let the idiots whine about WoW, who cares, i would love it to be able to hatch a Dragon Egg and once my little Dragon has grown up then (this would be a real big and good perma money sink too, because raising a Dragon means, that you have to feed it ect.) my character would be able to travel withit fast and comfortable to any place, where i want to be. traveling with your own Dragon would be like Map traveling, its only more expensive therefore that you have the prestige to travel with your own Dragon and to receive tha fantastic RPG Flair you get through it, when you can personally fly your Dragon self to engoy the game's world in a bird pespective. And when the Z-Achis will be high enough, they Sky will be then high and large enough for all players, which have an Dragon.
But mounts would/should be also then LENDABLE at NPC's for a small Lending Fee. You would be able to lend for example for you for say 100g a Grand Moa Mount, that you could ride then for 1 Day (it gets bonded to your account for 24 hours), once the 24 hours are over, the Mount will run back to its NPC and you have to lend it again for a new 100g fee, if you need a Mount.
Thats the most simple Mount System, with that work so many other MMORPG's, its easy to program, it works perfectly, its a good little gold sink and many other games show anet, how it works, so why not for GW2 too >,>?
But oh ya, i forgot all those whiners ... meh, which believe, mounts would be an unfair advantage for traveling, when there exists map traveling lolz >.<
      --------
      • General Traveling:
GW2 should have hopefully more options for travelling, than only moving by feet or using Map Travel. Thats silly and made the game looking ,like made for the most uber lazy people of the laziest ones >.<
There are so many different ways of traveling, which would give GW2 also nice additional RPG Flair, whe know from Offline RPG's of the PC or Consoles

        * Traveling by Ship
A really easy thing. Either players should be able to buy tickets for a Ship Travel, that would be also a nice gold sink, or players create their own Ships for prestige to become independent from the NPC Captains or Sailor players, which would charge fees for ship traveling to places, where the NPC Ships would not sail to...
Gives the game wonderful rpg flair and lets the gamers enjoy the sea, when you travel manually you ship from port to port, like in Suikoden 4, where you can control your own ship and sail it to where you want to be with Sea battles ^^ Sea Battles is so or so a gameplay mechanic i'd love to see in GW2 fighting Corsairs (Pirates) and to shoot down their ships with your cannons *g* Again Suikoden 4 shows a nice little tactical way to make such a gameplay and it is very nice for multiplayer, because in a sea battle, every party member should have its own role... some, which use the cannons, one which sails the ship, one on the tower which spies for enemies location and gives the orders, others which fight the foes, if they enter the ship.

        * Traveling by Mount
Mounts would give the gamer 2 options for traveling, Either you use an on earth based mount, tha can't fly. something similar to a Chocobo, like big Moas or 2 legged Drakes like we know them form a picture of GW Concept Arts (don't know, if it was for utopia or GW:EN or a campaign, but there was one), or for the prestige, a mount, that can fly, unless anet gives us not a race, that has the ability to fly by themself, so a winged race, like Sylphs (Wind Nymphs) would be cool, but then I'm sure would people all whine about Aion and Perfect World only XD, so lets keep the flying then on Mounts, like cool Dragons and GW2 will be based so or so sterongly on Dragons, so who says, that all Dragons have to be evil in GW2 ? There can also be friendly ones, especially when you hatch your own one, your own one doesn't know, what is evil and what is good, unless you as their "Mommy" teach them it XD

        * Traveling by Magic
One thing, that could be combined with Map Traveling to give the game a better RPG flair, would be to give all professions the ability to learn how to use Teleportation Magic through using magical Rune Stones (teleport concept based on the Gothic games for PC for example) These Rune Stones would be buyable at NPCs and would be a a 1 time buy tool, which would be able to teleport you x time,s then the player would have to reload the magic energy in the rune stone for a small fee. But this System would require also, that GW2 hopefully receives for its persistent world a coordinate system, like X264:Y95.
When you use then the Runestone to teleport you thriough its magic, players would have to give in first the locations coordinates to get teleported to the place.

        * Traveling by Asura Gates
Asura Gates would be for GW2 also a sweet kind, to give the game a great network of travelling routes from gate to gate through their Warp technology.
Would be super funny and a wonderful homage to the Star Gate Series, the whole gameplay reminds on, if players would also have to give in fisrt coordinates on a little tower through pushing symbols (glyphs) to activate the gate, to see then short a strong power revert pulse like in SG to go then through the gate, game loads then, hwile we see, how our characters move through the wurm hole to the other side and when game has loaded, then we see, how we move out on the other sides gate and the wurm hole closes behind the players

        * Traveling by Air Ship
Who knows, what in 250 Years happens in GW's Technology, when asurans have their gate,s I think Humans can invent Air Ships, which work with Steam or so XD or also with help of magic (runestones again) Could be maybe a nice middle way, for those people, that don't have enough money ect. for the prestige to have own Dragons or for people, which love more technology and want to upgrade their own Ships into Hybrids, which can transform themself also into Air Ships again as a litle homage to the saga about "The flying Dutchman*g* which was a ship, that could also fly...
--------
  • Dungeons:
Please give us again Dungeons in GW2 from the Start on, placed all over the world, not only in the areas of EotN. Cantha, Elona and the Arwea of Tyria (prophecies) have sure also lots of possible Dungeons. Also please give us in GW2 LARGER dungeons. More ones, with higher amounts of Stages, like the Frostwurm Dungeon with its 5 Stages. Dungeons with only 2 Stages are lame, these can be maybe Beginner Dungeons, but so more difficult the Dungeons should be, so more Stages it should have.
I want to seee for example in GW2 some large Dungeons with like 10 or more Stages, Dungeons, like very deep Caves, or really high Towers or what would be very nice, a large Tree Dungeon, somethign like the Tree of Life Yggdrasill would be sweet as large Elite Dungeon with 10+ Stages. Also hopefully make Dungeons in GW2 all warpable, once you've played them through, there should be a way to travel to them faster, like using the asura gates, which could warp you to the inside of the entrance of the dungeons. Every dungeon could have placed an asura gate at its entrance, which is deactivated (destroyed), when you enter the dungeon for your first time, and when you beat the dungeon, than you will see the next time you enter the dungeon, how some Asurans repair the gate for you and after that , then you can warp diretc into the dungeon from the map by usign the gate icon, or using the gate ingame, if you want to have the RPG flair
---------
  • Storage Space:
Really, absolutely one thing, that needs to get solved for GW2.
Give us more Storage Place, a good organized Storage Chest, that handles it, if a player is a Collector. With organized i mean, that the Storage Chests should have for everything its own Tab and that items won't be limited again on 250 only, also stack everything, will stack and not that we iwll see again, that lots of thigns don't stack ,which should better stack...stuff like Runes, Upgrades/inscriptions, that are max, minipets ect.

GW2 needs from the begin on hopefuly a good Armor Storage, Ranger Pet storage, so that Rangers can tame multiple pets and hopefully wil have in GW2 also the ability to be played as real beast masters with more than 1 Pet at their side.
There should be a Tab for Minipets, one for all kinds of consumeable items, like DP remober,s alcohol ,sweets, party stuff and all the other stuf,f that you consume and don't stay forever... so also keys for example, That are all items, which never change someho or have different versions, to that it could give problems with them to store them like materials. The material tab shows best, how anet should handle everything in the storage chest, that is handeable like this.
--------
  • Trade System:
The Trade System of GW1 is simple horrible, everywhere where you look at, you see in GW only Trade Spam and this sucks.
What GW2 needs there to prevent this bad concept of GW2 is an iname auction house and the ability for players to create private shops in special Trade Towns where in each trade district can be a certain amount of private shops created. Private Shops allow players like in RO then simple to create a clickable Mini Shop List over the head of your character and when others click it, then they will see, what your P-Shop has to offer. You draw then they stuff you want from the shop into yourinventory, clikc the buy button, the buy gets its stuff and the seller his money automatically, when the buyer is able to pay ...otherwise the buy gets the info box, that he has not enough money/mats to pay the seller.
And in special trade towns with disctircts, which are only for P-Shops, where the chats are diabled, no one will get disturbed there then by AFK-Shops, when they are also limited per district to keep the lag as low as possible and the districts overviewable and districts are also only instances, which are unlimited....
-------
  • Mail System & Private Chats:
What GW2 really needs is a Mail System. it was really disappointing, that GW1 never got it, a way to send to other players messages, why stay also over time, as long they don't get readed and deleted by the one, who receives the mail, or to send others through this system birthday presents or whatever you want to send others for items, so that you don't have to run to other characters to click on their trade button.

Also very annoying about GW was ever the fact, that its chat system is horrible. Whenever you use it, douzends of others will be ever able to read, about what you talk, you have never anyhow any privacy, when you want to talk about somethign with someone other alone under "20 fingers" . i hope, we will be able in GW2, like in RO to create private chats, where only those peopel can enter the chat, which know the password for the chat and where the player can set the limit, on how much people should be able to enter maximum the chat. This way you can chat with your frinds or with other people about thigns then finally, where you don't want, that every asshole and every retarded idiot ingame should read it ..., only to see then maybe seconds later, how some childish morons make jokes about you...
--------
  • Account based customized Items:
This point is a simple one. Every item, that is anyhow customized, should not be customized to a certain character of yours, but be customized to YOUR account, so that all characters of your account stay able to use the costomized item
--------
-------
  • General Weaponry:

I hope, that GW2 will have enough professions, together with an Evolution System to ensure, that there iwll be enough different professions based on the core professions, that GW2 will receive lots of the missing Weapon Archetype. I want to see in GW2 Professions usign weapons like 2H Swords/Axes (Great Swords/Axes), Claws, Whips, Lances/Halberds(Naginatas), Staffs being used as Battle Staffs and not only as Magic Staffs, Nunchakus, Maces, Morning Stars, bare handed fightstyle (gauntlets), Chain Sickles (Kusarigama), Boomerangs/Chakrams, (Fuuma)Shurikens and Kunais, instead of Daggers, Assassins should use Katars, because Kunais are already Throwing "Daggers", Tonfas ect. but also dual wieldign swords, axes and maces should find their way into GW2. Some stuff of that can be maybe simple reskins, but lots of the mentioned stuff is it worth to be an own weapon n GW2, that gets used as weapon by an own profession
--------
  • Professions:
For them just look to the CC section at the latest Sticky of MC... there you see a 4/5 th finished vision of how I'd love to see the professions in GW2 together with an Evolution System, instead of the 2 Class System, which is imo a terrible system, that caused over time only more and more unbalances between professions, than it caused balance between them ...

I'm in the process of getting the Black Moa Chick and would like to see use of materials and crafting and such like this in GW2. I don't necessarily mean a treasure hunt, but a little more legwork in the process that adds some sense of involvement when making items.

Perhaps something to go with the idea of how to implement Dual Wielding one-hand weapons *like swords* into GW2. Make it so that you can wield a shield/focus on either hand, that way you can even dual wield shields *could happen, but people shouldn't*.

If the level cap is to be maxed to a 100 or so, an anti-power-leveling system needs to be introduced.

I propose the following:

Below the exp bar, is the stamina / focus / watchamacallit bar.

Ranges from 100% - 5% and depletes exponentionally as you play the game.
Meaning, for the first few hours of play, the bar will be between 100 and 85%, whereas playing (fighting, gaining exp) for over four hours in a day would result in a 60-ish or so %, five would drop it to around 30%, etc.

The bar replenishes when not gaining exp / fighting.

The depletion / replenish speed should be tweaked so that everyone can play for up to 2-3 hours daily with an >90% efficiency, but still punish the power-grinders.

None at the moment :(

I have an Idea on how to remove the constant WTS/WTB in public chat:

Implement an auction house feature, similar to warcraft, where users can put there stuff on sale, but also buy stuff. But then also have 2 titles tied to this (Merchant Title Track/Customer Title Track), where If you complete a sale, you gain 1 point, or if you buy you get one point, the max rank being 1000 points or so, also, its not based on items sold, but transaction, which will stop people from selling 1000 low cost items to get the rank instantly...

What Guild Wars is missing is a sort of Risk Vs. Reward balance.

Right now all the high-end items, armor and titles (PVE obviously) are achieved through simple grinding with no risk! no fear of losing something in trying..no penalty what so ever if you fail in what you're doing other than having to do the mission/quest/vanquish again.

No risk = no reward...just a lot of wasted time.

How to add this risk? Add penalties for failure!

Games like EvE Online have added risk by adding freedom of action...get your ship destroyed in a non-policed sector and BLAM you start all over again (if you're not insured and bla bla bla): open world pvp.

Open world PvP with even a symbolic gain on the winners part (see chopped ear from diablo 2) like a dog tag (see the last battlefield) of the victim would be nice and perhaps a random item from the loser's pack...

But there are other ways to add risk. Again in diablo 2 each time you "save & quit" and relog in the monsters respawn at a higher level. This is harder to implement in an MMO but i'm sure you get the idea...fail now? it will be harder later. RISK!

High risk High reward...BLAM baby! BLAM!

Some of them are, yes. Does it matter? No imo. WoW has some good things, why not to add them to gw2? As long theres no freaking grinding. I totally agree with phoenix tears except bout some lvling things (5000 fireballs used etc.) which sound too much like grinding.

Some of my random ideas:

There should be more cool fantasy looking weapons. And not just melee weapons, caster ones too. Another thing bout weapons, atm most monks (other caster too tho) use shield & martial weapon as a defensive set. Thats just too unrealistic to me. Martial weapons & shields for physical characters, caster weapons for casters as it should be.

No hm! Hm is just one stupid lame idea Just add easy areas, harder areas and so on.

Day and night sounds like a good idea but 3 hour cycle is too often. Make it like 5hours or something like that.

Phoenix tears said pretty much everything else

yeah, I know, not very original but those are the 2 things GW1 lacks that are sorely missed imo.

Some less conventional suggestions:
Since the level cap will be high or non-existent, I'd prefer characters to be able to switch primary professions (if it involves them, magically, shifting their body type and/or facial characteristics then so be it). I'd prefer this because I personally like the variety available with GW1's multiple professions, but in GW1 if you spend time exploring the variety of professions through PvE then you encroach upon the time available for of developing your favorite character(s). If a single character could explore multiple professions it would eliminate that drawback to exploring multiple professions. Primary profession switching would also be helpful for ensuring your character could play end-game content (as it's well known that many professions aren't readily chosen for some end-game areas, unless they use Ursan blessing of course)

Other than that, the things that I'd like have been pretty much confirmed to being actively developed, and I'm cautiously optimistic about them getting it right (while not perfect, I believe Anet got many things right with GW1).

Oooh how could I almost forget: I wants more storage space!!!1eleventy

I didn't bother to read the entire thread, only the OP, so I don't know if this has already been mentioned.

I am now on my 4th day without internet connection at home due to ISP problem and I miss GW already. So, I think it will be a great idea if there is an OFFLINE MISSION/QUESTS for GW2 that players can play while they are travelling or have no access to internet.

Just a thought that may be interesting to add to GW2.

INGAME DIET:

FAT:

If you eat too much food in the game you can get fat

so if you stay in town and all you do is spend money or beg for money then buy groceries with the money and eat it your characters body will change over time and get fat

WEAKLING
If all you do is hunt hunt hunt and not eat your character will grow weak, if all you eat is fried banana chips from the local marketplace you will also grow weak, a balanced diet is required for your character to remain strong and ability to hunt well....IF all you eat is meat and protein then after awhile you will also start to shake and grow tired and fall over and crawling on ground looking for carbs to replenish the body for energy use

It could be a good way to get people healthy also in real life getting all this knowledge and Guild Wars 2 could start a trend

* Traveling by Ship

* Traveling by Air Ship

I agree with you on these, My favorites is the ships . But Wouldn't the humans need help from the asura to make an air ship since they made the mechanic like golems and asura gates and supposed to be the smartest race in the game?*Got something against asura?* And you forgot to mention grapple hooks and walking boards because how will you get on the other ship? I know you can swim to other ships, but for airships you need to fly or tie up the other ship to your ship so you can raid their ship.
