GW2 Suggestions Thread

Couple of random things i've been thinking about
-Mouths that move.
-More ways to interact with the environment. An example being that me and my old guild used to have guild meetings, and we'd all just kind of stand there, which looked kind of awkward and fake. IF there was a table with chairs to sit on, for example, It would be nice
-No insta-porting from city to city
-Make characters individual, with the ability to join different guilds (ME and my brother used to share an account. I joined a french guild. HE dosn't speak french. I do. It drove him crazy :] ) Having all characters to one name also made me feel like my characers were more part of an account than a part of the game
Oh yes and give female rangers female voices. I dont know if everyone has this problem, but whenever theres a cinematic with a female ranger as main, the voice is that of a male

One thing I love about GW is the environments and their visual qualities, and although many of them seem rather "manufactured" and non-natural they still have a great level of detail and wonder for explorers.
This thread is designed for you, as players, to give input on what kinds of terrains etc. you would like to encounter in GW2. Who knows, you may just get what you want.
Personally I think that Anet should take a page from The Discovery Channel and look up some terrain ideas from many of the programs they have. For example: Man vs Wild - A show based around navigating and surviving in some of the world's most unforgiving and perilous terrains.
I personally would like to see more "open and detailed" terrain types. The Ring of Fire island chain is nice for volcanic plains etc. but unless you count the oddly shaped rock formations you never reach, it is rather bland and could be spiced up, if they use Volcanic areas in GW2.
Open sunny snow covered areas are also another one of my favorite areas to explore, such as Mineral Springs.
The vast desert terrains of the Crystal Desert certainly outweigh the demented volatile areas in its southern Elonian counter-part. Deserts with full mesas, ruins and possibly tombs or caverns would be a nice touch.
GW1 seems to be really lacking in underground and indoor areas. In exception to the Dungeons of EotN (which I don't include because basically each dungeon is just the same as another one, just re-arranged or with a new door open.)
Those are some examples of what I would love to see more of, what are yours?

I'd like to see more of what they tried to accomplish in Prophecies. Different areas having different terrains, like snow, field, charred earth, molten rock, jungle.
The artist of GW is absolutely amazing, but after Prophecies, the maps just seem too dragged on, dull and stretched. Factions itself was a nice starting area, which led to a LOT of enclosed twists and turns that was all a brown maze. Nightfall was mainly desert, sand and very little eye pleasers to seperate the areas.
What I'd really like to see is a world. A world like Prophecies was. That one map got you your mountains, your volcanoes, your jungles and even your country with rocks and waterfalls.

Horseman Of War
I read in the 'future lore' that both the luxons and kurzicks clans have been pretty much wiped out.
That alone is somewhat disappointing...
FACTIONS has the most unique landscapes/areas in the game. JADE SEA 4EVA
Desolation = ++! Especially with the return of Palawa Joko?? Sulphur yellow is a very nice color imo.
That, and the Ring of Fire Isand Chain style is key.

Prophecies/Factions landscapes at EotN quality.
That's pretty much the gist of what I'd want.

I would also like to see what they were trying to accomplish in Prophecies. Also I have to agree with Horseman Of War when he said that the jade sea is unique becuase it is. I believe there will be better landscapes in GW2.

Can't beat the Charr homelands and those types, also, maybe the terrain should be more open to movement (not like limited pathways like so many areas in the game)
Operative 14
The one thing I found a bit annoying is that the landscapes in Prophecies seemed more like FPS shoot boxes; a terrain manufactured to make you go from point A to point B using one or two designated paths. This got better in each subsequent chapter, though it would be nice to have an area the size of an entire present day instance that is nothing but open grassy plains, or making it so that the Crystal Desert is just a sea of dunes that has no obstacles.
At the same time though, as Darkobra said, Prophecies seemed incredibly creative compared to the later Chapters. The sheer mix of different landscape types was astounding when compared to Nightfall where it was one vast desert. The bad thing about that, however, is that the singular desert of Elona seems far more detailed than any one area of Prophecies.
One other thing that's bugged me a bit; I want to see whats in the distance. Like if the Shiverpeaks are supposed to be as epically tall as they are made out to be, it would be nice to just barely see them from Ascalon city. And when getting closer you can see them rise up until they seem realistic to their scope, and then walk up and into them.
The transitions areas also need to be feathered out a bit. When transitioning from the frigid Shiverpeaks to the tropics of Kryta, it would be really nice if that transition was spread out, instead of being a difference of this side or that side of the portal. Or even in Factions, the transition is usually just a change from a snowy texture to a grassy texture.
And it would also be nice if the mountains were realistically higher than the rest of the map; when entering from a neighboring zone, to me at least, it looks like the entry in the Shiverpeaks brings you down much lower than the rest of the map so they can take you back up and give the illusion of a higher elevation. And in Factions the mountains that were supposedly high enough to have snow all year when surrounded by lush tropics seemed like they would be way to short to cuase such a differentiation.
GW:EN did address these issues to a certain extent though. So I have faith that, following the development curve expressed in the game already, they have made an attempt in GW:EN, so GW2's expression of these will be significantly better.

Attributes: Dark Supremacy(A Combination of Shadow and Deadly Arts), Bladering Mastery(increases damage with bladerings), Blaze Mastery(Pyromaniacs dream attribute), Immortality(Excellent Set of Defensive skills to make one immortal )
basically the opposite of the derv, instead of being all holy, these guys are like they are like the firey warriors/dervs/assassins from hell For those of you who have played Kingdom Hearts Two, Axel is the basis of the class, with fire spells, shadow stepish movement, attack skills and using the dual bladerings like axel, which they twirl much like a dervs scythe if you get what im saying. the bladerings work a lot like daggers in that they take both hands. Post any comments if you think of anything to make them better

Factions does have absolutely beautiful terrain. The jade sea and echovald forest lead to incredible scenery that was out of this world.
Just like in WoW the transitions need to be fixed, but I hope the great scenery carries on.

With all the nice sceneries in GW, im quite surprised that GW doesn't allow houses. RPers would love it, L33T peeps can show off their loot and it'll even fix the economy! GW can sell the house in exchange for in-game gold or real money perhaps! (please dont flame me!)
Any thoughts on this? Would you want a house that you could call your own (persistent or instanced)? The technology is there, whats keeping ANet from doing it?!!!!
So would you want one or not?
-Loki- ... corrected. Nazi. :P

No, we don't.
The grammar nazi in me wants to point out that they are not being kept from not doing it - because they aren't doing it.

Sims isnt medieval enough and 124 people stated places in the GW world where they want to live in (other thread). I mean a lot of MMOs have housing features ... (sorry, old Ultima Online and Starwars Galaxies player here)
Abedeus
Want a house? Buy a barbie house and play with dolls.

I love this idea... This was implemented to RuneScape a while back when I was still playing it and I loved it... Maybe make skill levels. As you develop more levels in house making or whatever you can build bigger houses and add more stuff to it, maybe even change location, etc... I love this idea
EDIT: If not a house, then maybe a dorm in your GH (Imagine 100 dorms in GH) or even make schools where you can learn and have a dorm with other members - sounds good for me

Okay, if you played UO, you'd remember how freaking CROWDED the places that allowed housing were. It was ridiculous. Thus, /notsigned.

and for those who say "if you want houses, go play the games that allows you to have houses." That is just stupid. This is a suggestion to put it in Guild Wars. If I suggest that I want to fish in GW2, will I get an answer like "If you want to fish, go play a game where you can fish".

HOUSES!!!!!!
Gw just inst GW anymore.
Gw just inst GW anymore.
Proff
No, we really don't want houses.
gremlin
Irrespective of should it be done I doubt very much if it could be done.
Yes if I could have a house or even a shop in the game I would want it, no questions or doubts in my mind there.
It would have to be in a town or other player area otherwise there isn't any point, I wouldn't want it set up like present guild halls.
Every town and outpost in the game would have to become huge just to accomodate the building of these houses.
If anyone can get round the problems then great I am all for it.

The Hall of Monuments is a great addition and is as close to anything resembling housing that is needed.
Making housing would be a waste of developers time and game resources so much more exciting things could be done with that time.
If a player really wants to use their imagination and play house anyplace could be suitable to imagine the house is there as well.
Its great people share their ideas but I don't think this one is fitting for Guild Wars.

Well, technically it's entirely possible to implement personal houses without the world turning into a urban sprawl, in an infinitely compressible instanced universe (multiverse?) all you need is one house, just like HoM.
However, what's the point? Do we want an outhouse, too, just so that our intrepid heroes can answer to nature's call when the going gets too exciting?

We may have multiple personallities, we may not. But, we as a whole, do not want houses. As we are not homeless. Besides all a house would equal is an over abundance of storage space. We, see a problem with that as there are retards who collect crap non stop. then would drop all of it into the economy crash the economy, piss off people who care, even if We dont, and then We would have to listen to them bitch and moan about it on GW2 guru.
